      Exactly!
This can happen to any bike. Not fair to always blame a manufacturer for all the issues.

I've heard that its not a good idea to hot press the wheels back to shape and use.

      • My ceeber too had its first hit 2 weeks back. An old rusted bullet could not brake in time and hit my ceeber at the back. The rear fender/mud guard broke. Although it looks better this way, it throws a lot of water on the people behind me. So, I decided to replace it. The part was not available. I have asked the dealer (silicon honda) to order one and it would be coming by this weekend, hopefully.

I was also told during the first service that the the oil filter need not be replaced, but the SA replaced it after I insisted and showed him the owner manual where it is clearly mentioned that the oil filter should be replaced during first service.

Does that happen even after letting the engine to cool?

Suggestion is, listen to the engine; if you feel its roughened up a little, go for an oil change WITH oil filter & you can immediately feel the smoothness. It should happen somewhere around 500ish & then do the periodic service at 1000. It should all be fine.

+1; If I were him, I would certainly change the part & not fix it. It costs a few thousand more to change, but it gives a complete peace of mind.

@chicmagnet - Appreciate if you can share the details of the incident.

U were wondering what happened to ur bike back then when the engine failed on you.
A guy at the bullet thread also went through the same and explains what went wrong. Maybe u had the same problem?

            • But Nitesh, both are entirely two different breed of bikes. Though, we can take it as an information but not for comparison. Going through his case, it was dislocated tappet, while mine had a piston shave, again two different outcome.

Tks Nitesh for sharing the info Tks.

Is the black CBR a metallic? I read in the brochure at the showroom that Black & Silver are Metallic. However it doesn't look like.

We can understand your frustration even if you'd sounded in milder words. Taking out your frustration on HMSI over here is not going to help.

And again, don't jump to conclusions without actually seeing what has happened. If you need suggestions, pls state clearly what kind of burning did you notice. May be some good pics will help understand over million words.

What do you mean by metallic? The paint should be metallic & not the fairings.

                  • I realise when my mag could have been bent. Went over a pothole at 60kmph at Jogeshwari on the western express flyover, Mumbai. This happened Sunday night as far as I know.

The only reason I am complaining is because I have been over similar sized potholes at similar speeds on my Pulsar but never had a bent like this in my mag. It could be on off though I do know people with bent alloys who are riding as usual as the bent doesn't exactly hamper riding the bike.
Lets see what the service center guys have to say about this.

Edit: Just checked my mail and the Honda guys replied and I quote:
                    Dear Mr. Nishant Singh

We thank you for visiting our website & sharing your concerns. We are looking into the matter and shall be getting back to you shortly. We request you to bear with us till such time.

Thanking You and assuring our best attention always.

                    • ^^ have you compared the build quality of the pulsar mag to your bike's??? In the event of a crash ( i hope it doesnt happen ), The wheel is designed to crack/break to absorb maximum impact. If it remains stiff, and does not bend/crack, then the shock of the impact will be transferred to the rest of the bike, in turn you.

Ride it carefully. These bikes were made for good roads. Doesnt mean that they cant take a thrashing, but not the kind that we can subject them to on bad roads.

OT - Offlate I'm witnessing too many ppl getting aggressive on the forum, call it whatever, due to inavailability of spares, poor ASC, poor build quality. I can certainly understand the frustration; what concerns me is, if this is the kind of aggression people vent out here, what would they vent out on road

                        • ^^ Honda has been playing catch up with demand and supply for god knows how long. But the primary thing that was there on bajaj's mind when launching the ninja was spares. And they were made available if not at the dealer in 3-5 days. This will go a very long way in ensuring good sales of the bike.

It started the same with R15 also, spare panels were not readily available, and now there is a flood of spares with every dealer.

Im hoping the situation gets resolved soon. Or honda wouldve shot themselves with an excellent product.

Time to start stocking up it seems??? eh aargee??

                          • ^^^ JD - there's nothing to panic, I'd say. See the recent experience of redrage, he was treated well. Sudeep's bike is running fine, DK's bike is fine; IMO, we're either over reacting because the spare's inavailability is over the entire planet.

A local dealer says Honda USA hasn't shipped them workshop manual yet; since they've a mechanic who's working with SBK's for quite few years, they're not too concerned about the workshop manual & they only stick to owner's manual.

                            • My CBR Engine is Rough -Need help

I bought a Honda CBR250R C-ABS model on 27th June, 2011. After first service, I noticed that engine smoothness has gone completely. Every time I open and close throttle, I can feel that engine is not moving smooth. It feels like sand in the engine. Also I noticed vibrations during run time.
I contacted my dealer in Bangalore (Dream Honda), the CBR technician told me that it was due to tighten chain and he adjusted the chain. But the problem is not resolved.

Is there any problem with the engine, I mean is it requires any kind of tuning?

Please let me know your suggestions.

                              • There is dearth of spares at most dealers. For my spare Oil Filter too i had to really nag them to get it. But the dealer said this issue will be resolved soon, with their second plant in Rajasthan up and running, they say they could address this issue to an extent. Only time will tell.
