I'm sure its THE CHEAPEST in India. Reason being that, Honda cannot compromise the quality for the rest of the world & cannot compromise on the cost in India.

My only question is, does HMSI get the same standard on their parts made by any Indian vendors, as what they get from Thailand?

If they don't get the same standard, then the mistake is not on HMSI, but on our local vendors. Because a similar case is proven on R15.

    • ^^ thats what i said initially. The quality control is lacking here than there. Also difference in metallurgy, processing etc, however how so minor, make a huge difference. It will be sometime before they iron out the kinks.

Yamaha went for localization to save money and improve profits. We were expecting a drop in the price of the R15 after localization, but nothing.

in all manufacturing process where parts are outsourced, there is a separate dept for Vendor development. Apart from this there is always the inward QC check before acceptance in to stores.

Probably HMSI is accepting lower standards? Well let try to relate what I'm trying to think...

Honda Japan says, XYZ standard for certain parts from the point of automotive ENGINEERING, when it comes to actual production from the vendors, the local QC guys look only from metallurgical point & not from automotive engineering.
          ^^^ Is this right?

Bang true; I hoped HMSI would also adopt the same strategy!!! Sigh!!!

          • CBR IN MY HANDS NOW.had a call on friday that my black abs model has arrived so went to surya motors on saturday for the pdi and payment.went up to see the machine.there were one black and one red.i personally felt i made right decision by goin for black.BEAUTY LIES AT THE EYES OF BEHOLDER.checked everything was fine .they told that i can take the bike by evening.so made the full payment.rs 191335 as vehicle cost,240 for no plate,300 for rto.total of191,875.was asked to come by 5 in the evening.but had a call from them by 4 that after test driving the vehicle there is some clutch tightness that has to be corrected and hence can take delivery on monday evening. .called them monday morning for the status and the response was very clear that i can take the delivery after registration on wednesday.i told them i can even take delivery after a week also but please correct all minor issues .suddenly by 2 30 afternoon i recieve call that the vehicle is ready and i can take it monday evening itself.when asked about clutch issue they told it was just a minor adjustment ,they had initially thought that would be huge work but that turned to small one.so went to showroom by 4 30 with my friend.after the process the vehicle was brought down my the mechanic.THIS WAS THE MECHANIC FULLY INCHARGE OF CBR HE HAD SOME CLASSES IN DELHI REG CBR AND HE IS ONLY AUTHORIZED TO TOUCH CBR INCLUDING WATER WASH. he scolded the watchman who was checking the chassis no because he was wearing watch and that could lead to scratches.they are strictly instructed not to wear watches while servicing cbr..had asked them to remove the saree guard so it was given in hand.he did explain quite decently regarding dos and donts.the odo had already run 18 kms .when asked about that he told they road test vehicles before delivery as sinstructed by HMSI.was happy to see foldable mirrors somewhere in some post i had learnt that cbr does not come with foldable mirrors.IMPORTANT THING MENTINED BY HIM WAS THAT I SHOULD NOT IGNITE THE ENGINE TILL THE VIBRATION IN THE TANK STOPS AFTER SWITCHING ON .so happily took it home around some 15 kms from showroom.

            • after driving rx135 for almost 13 years it was tough for me to drive this one.not used to the bulkness, disc brakes etc etc.the gears were smooth but the engine i felt was not smooth.did feel pain in my wrists but i knew its because i was holding extra tight.think should get used to it in near future.braking was too good.definitely so much of road presence.maintained 4k rpm.to be frank i was not confident to drive it the first 10 to 12 kms.did some pooja in temple near home.parked the vehicle near my ANHC with so much difficulty .tueday had some short rides felt reasonably ok.today took it to the registration to annanagar rto.met the other owner who took the red one on saturday.while talking he SHOCKED ME that he had booked vehicle on friday and got delivery on saturday because of some rto influence..............registration process over was told i ll get my number tomorrow.

              • One thing that's really sad about this thread is that the recent owners(the ones who bought the new lot) never came back to report any problems they had after first servicing. It would be interesting to see how many people are still affected by the quality

                  • Today while returning back from work, my bike made muffled "boom" kind of a sound. Kind of like as if it misfired. Or probably, it actually did. Does my bike need help?
It's about 10 days and 300kms old and I do not cross 5k on the tacho, normally. Have touched 7k twice though, but then sanity took over.

Edit: If you have heard a FFE attached Royal Enfield misfire, you'd understand the kind of sound I'm talking about.

                    • Defenitely after going through these threads anyone new who has plans to go for CBR will be let down. Even when I took my delivery some 1.5 months back I was not much excited but only with lots of doubts after following this thread.

And Everyone here instead of only reporting the issues within here why can't we try taking all the issues collectively faced by everyone here to HMSI directly? Atleast then they would get some seriousness. As customers we have every rights to get a proper explanation and attention on any quality issues.

Mine is now due for 2nd service after 5900kms (Couldn't do it on monday since i was lil busy). And obviously there are signs of it like few loose nuts resulting some noise, engine little rough and little chain slackness, which are understandable.
Whenever I go through this thread I feel like I got my bike imported from Mars . I am totally in love with my bike after clearing few serious doubts.

Here are few numbers and things which ensured me that mine is fine.
                      Best kmpl - 41.7
                      Best Kmph- 158
                      Longest ripping - 120(appro) kms btw 100-145 on NH7
Longest gone - 380kms in around 5 hrs (atleast 5 times)
Handling ? - Knee gaurd scrapped without any drama. And over 140 little hard to manage around curves.

And few things I find like not ok and have to adjust with it as it is the character of the bike.

-Always I have to maintain little high rpm in lower gears than my prev bikes.
-And definitely not liking the exhaust note .
-Little unfriendly side stand and absence of centre stand.
-Not upto the mark paint quality, fit and finish.
                      Explore the unexplored!

                            • HDFC loan hassels

I booked my CBR ABS with Dream honda in bangalore in early june. First they told me they will give me a call for d loan formalities. i waited for 1.5 mths, n after seeing nthin happenin gv them a call only to find out i'm supposed to go n do everything.
Once i got all the docs n went to submit my application, they tell me they can't process my loan because I'M TOO YOUNG. Apparently HDFC has a special condition for CBR loans, you should be 26 and above. It was such a shock that a 24yr old cannot get a CBR loan, when everyday they call me to give various kinds of loans. Anyway for now i've escalated the issue to his manager and awaiting a reply.
On the other hand, i've realized that the loan that HDFC is offering in bangalore for the bike seems to be expensive than Personal loans (as per my understanding, i can be wrong too )
For 3 yrs, they are asking for a downpayment of 61k, and then EMI of 5412 for 35 mths.
From my calculations the extra comes to 53k(over the on road price).
For personal loan, i got a quote of 1.6lc loan at 17.5%, EMI 5473(about)
with extra amount 46500(includes 3500 taxes n fees) for 3 yrs.
So i really am not sure if i should fight and get the bike loan or go ahead with a personal loan. Is there anything i should look at with the personal loan guidelines ?
                              Help me out guys !
(n ya this is my first post at X-bhp )

Please let me know as I am planning go long drive on my bike. Did you get wrist pain while riding this bike?
