Hi Everyone... I bought the CBR on 6th June and have ridden it for 1400 kms now. Haven't faced any major glitch so far and the CBR has always brought a smile to my face.
I came to know about this thread recently and have gone through each and every post made here (yes i have read through more than 3k posts) Would like to thank all the xbhpians here who have shared some invaluable information, specially PSR, Aargee, Youngking, Sudeep, Amlan, Kurtrules (sorry if i missed someone)
That being said, yesterday I found a squeaking sound coming from my front suspension/wheel. When i apply some pressure on the front and move the handle to extreme left or right there is a squeaky sound (something like a dog crying in low pitch
) I suspect it's something to do with the cone setting. Please share your opinion on this. I would get that inspected at the ASC tomorrow morning.
But other than that, it's been a pleasure owning the ceeber so far.

Is it? I am able to do 140+ in the fifth before redliningOriginally posted by Binoy View PostYes @aargee for me the bike touched 10.5K with 137kmph and the moment it touched 10.5K i shifted it to 6th.......
. Tempted by the posts here tried touching 100mph mark last to last night on nice ringroad.
It was very difficult to reach 150 when riding towards banarghatta, But with determination and hard try was able to pull out 156 on the return run. I am 70 and was with atleast 5kg weight. I guess suspension also plays a part here i was on full soft setting, while I was in full hard setting I was able to do 158. Unfortunately I lost my cybershot last sunday while riding
, When I try next time surely will post a video or pic (from my mobile cam
)
It must be the cone set issue if you hear the sound only when you are turning the steering, as planned visit the SVC and get rectified.Originally posted by i.donn.giv.a.damnnn View PostWhen i apply some pressure on the front and move the handle to extreme left or right there is a squeaky sound (something like a dog crying in low pitch

Two reasons for squeaky sound from front. Either the rusted/faulty cone set or some dirt in the disc brake pads. Both faced by my CBR..Originally posted by i.donn.giv.a.damnnn View Postyesterday I found a squeaking sound coming from my front suspension/wheel. Someone also had such sound due to loose front number plate bolts.
As you say the sound is when you turn the steering, it may possibly be the cone set (it can be declared as a common issue now
)

Booked a silver Std..........exptd delivery in nov 1st week....
Guys try power shifting......CBR goes like rocket....i meant shift at rpm where maximum power is delivered.....do this after you reach 3rd gear.....and also the road plays a major role......Mumbai guys go on NH-3....i did a 134kmph on odo on a GS150R...though it was a slope......i am sure cbr will cross 170 mark there

A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels,scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

Let me put my two cents in here, I kept shifting the gear around 5-6k and reached 140 Kmph on 6th Gear (though it took some time in coming) The bike still had some juice in it but I ran into traffic so had to slow downOriginally posted by aargee View Post
- If one keeps shifting the gears around 5-6K RPM at every gear, the top speed is about 135-137 Kmph on 6th gear & it takes lot of time to achieve that
Would try shifting at 8.5 - 9k rpm and let you guys know the result

Finally She comes Home.....
Hi guys I received my Black CBR 250 R ABS yesterday, what a beauty she is!!!
Overall the experience was good. Bought the bike from Pressana Honda, Coimbatore. The sales guy Sridhar know the bike fairly well and quite a helping guy. They have two mechanics trained on CBR and both of them were also seemed to be ok, as my not knowing tamil was a big hindrance while interacting with them.
I had done a mini PDI kinda thing the day bike was unloaded and was also there when they finally did the PDI. Actually nothing much other than putting the RVMs and adjusting the clutch, which had lot of free play and finally cleaning the beauty.
After delivery drove her for 60 km and man what fun she is to be with!!!
Though I was not exceeding 5000 RPM in any gear she was fantastic. No vibrations, no abnormal noise she behaved perfectly fine.
I plan to complete 500km at the earliest, do the 1st service and planning a trip of appx 4000km immediately afterwards. Detailed report will follow as WE log few sizeable miles together.
And THANKS to all who have posted in the thread as this helped me a lot to decide me for CBR when I was really divided between CBR and Ninja 250.
Keep writing guys and HAPPY MILE MUNCHING.Once a Biker ....Always a BIKER

Yes, most likely the issue is with the steering race cone. Many have this problem including me.Originally posted by i.donn.giv.a.damnnn View PostI found a squeaking sound coming from my front suspension/wheel.......I suspect it's something to do with the cone setting.
The Spare Part dept of Honda is soo pathetic that its been over a month since the order was placed and it has not arrived yet.

CBR handle bar mods
Guys,
I had posted a feedback about the CBR in the Tourer section some time back. A special grouse with me was the riding position in main due to the low set clip-ons.
A solution was posted as fotos of the CBR handle bar (clip-ons) mod (initial work) that I have engineered.
The final job is done and here are the fotos.
The result is much lesser loads on the fingers and wrists. The riding position has improved dramatically. A spinoff of the tension bar is that it affords a nifty place for securing a map sheet or GPS device or even a cell fone. I have sent the bar for chromium plating and will post the final pics on its arrival.
Let the touring begin!
Regards.
