Hey guys, my bike refuses to go above 145 km/h on NH4. Tried shifting every gear at 10.5k, no luck.. On my next run, tried shifting at 9.5k, again no luck. Bike stopped accelerating at 145 before I ran out of road. Accelerating 0-100 is very fast, but I felt the bike struggling to achieve 130. Even 145 came with much difficulty and that too, on a long straight patch. Especially surprising since I had touched 152 km/h relatively easily on the day I got my bike back from the first servicing.
It's done 1500 km now, with 1st servicing done at 850. Haven't lubed chain since then. Will that make enough of a difference if I lube chain before trying again? Also, I'll try slightly over inflating the tires before I make my next run, though the tire pressure is 29 psi in both tires, nitrogen.
I'd like to hear from those who have posted speeds in excess of 150 km/h, especially @thefastestindian who had posted 165 a few pages back.

The chain on my bike runs dry quiet quickly. You should definitely lube it, might make a difference.Originally posted by sunkenpirate View PostIt's done 1500 km now, with 1st servicing done at 850. +1; same here.Originally posted by BladeBoy View PostThis is what I was exactly talking about :O :O :O
Isn't this C250R ownership thread? Why bring RTR discussion here?Originally posted by abhiwar View Posthey aargee please explain the bold part i mean on many times i got close to 58-59kml even 60kmpl on my RTR-EFI but there wasnt any issue with the bike.
No need to apologize; you've done nothing wrongOriginally posted by ankss View Post.. apologies from my end that i interpreted wrongly
The only places it will shoot up more is downhill or flat straights. I've been trying for last 2 days & have not been able to; and this is after clicking 5800+ kms. Talk to Honda representative OR ASC NOW & get it resolved. Theoritically, the bike should do 10.5K RPM & make 168 (but did anyone notice? The rev limited kicks past 11K RPM, atleast for me)Originally posted by sunkenpirate View PostHey guys, my bike refuses to go above 145 km/h on NH4.
Same here, including 145Originally posted by sunkenpirate View Postbut I felt the bike struggling to achieve 130
May be the ECM went into safe mode; talk to ASC or Honda engineersOriginally posted by sunkenpirate View Postsurprising since I had touched 152 km/h relatively easily on the day I got my bike back from the first servicing
A big NO!!! BTW, Sunkenpirate...why didn't you make to Saturdat night meets at Motocafe? We could've caught up & checked your C250R!!!Originally posted by sunkenpirate View PostHaven't lubed chain...both tires, nitrogen
In addition I want to know the weight of these people!!!Originally posted by sunkenpirate View PostI'd like to hear from those who have posted speeds in excess of 150 km/h
It will not!!! Trust me, the bike runs at the same speeds, just that without lubing there's lot of squeaking noises & with lubed, not anyOriginally posted by pr4nav View PostThe chain on my bike runs dry quiet quickly. You should definitely lube it, might make a difference.
Something interesting happened today & made me very happy to have bought a C250R.
So, after riding for over 4500+ Kms, the chain has become loose & dry; spraying motul helped lube the chain, but, I didn't have a paddock to tighten the chain. And this happens about 100Km before Ahmedabad. So I still keep riding & after crossing Ahmedabad, say 10-20 Kms, all of a sudden I see a HMSI showroom on the highway. I walk in there (around 6:00 PM) & tell them, I've a C250R & want to tighten the chain; they didn't object & they not only tightened the chain for me, but didn't charge anything. WOW!!! forget the charges, I'm so happy that I made a choice of a vehicle with wide spread ASC, which was one of the key point to have choosen a C250R & today I realized it
Talking about FE, I did 2 runs today which was the same style of riding but...
1. Kept the speeds max upto 115 Kmph only; for 161.1 Kms from Manor to a little before Surat
2. Kept the speeds max upto 120 Kmph; for 231.6 Kms from a little before Surat to 100 Kms before Ahmedabad
Anyone wanna hear the outcome? Anyone wanna make guesses?Last edited by aargee; 09-05-2011, 11:34 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I dunno, 35 km/l...?
Another thing, how do you recognize if the chain is loose? Dry, you can check by observation, but I dunno about the loose part.Last edited by sunkenpirate; 09-05-2011, 11:34 PM.

Let's see what majority of people has to say!!! We need some fun hereOriginally posted by sunkenpirate View PostI dunno, 35 km/l...?
Simple; the play of chain is more than 2-3mm. Read the owner's manual or the swing arm; its mentioned at one of these places.Originally posted by sunkenpirate View PostAnother thing, how do you recognize if the chain is loose?
Nope; you get a squeaking noise when the chain is in motion.Originally posted by sunkenpirate View PostDry, you can check by observationSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Due to the heavy rains, a few bridges in the city were closed off as they were under water. Unfortunately, I live right at almost the other end of the city, and need to cross the river, so I didn't want to get stranded on the wrong side of the river. Sorry man, would have loved to meet you. Are you going to go through Pune again on the way back to Chennai?Originally posted by aargee View PostA big NO!!! BTW, Sunkenpirate...why didn't you make to Saturdat night meets at Motocafe? It often takes a humiliating overtake to understand that an early jump off the red light won't help them lead the pact. All I want to say is - Go after green.

I agree man. Day before yesterday, I spent an hour cleaning my bike. Then after that, within 20 minutes and 5 km, it was back to a mud splattered, unclean bike with no hint of a shine..Originally posted by titanic4u View Postmy horse is mud bathed, uncleaned standing out there
I seriously hate the rains.

Hehe, awesome. What about some pics so that we might look at our 'unclean' bikes and marvel at the comparatively pristine condition they are in..Originally posted by aargee View PostNone of you guys would even puke at mine as your puke would become dirty!!!
