In the beginning i used motul clean+lube but now i have started cleaning with diesel followed by motul lube and my can lasts for about 15 applications. I only apply the lube on the inner side of the chain.
Cleaning process: Firstly i apply diesel generously by a brush(used for painting purpose) followed by scrubbing by a tooth brush. After that i rub the chain using a cloth and then water pressure. After sometime i again rub the chain with diesel dipped clean cloth. This procedure leaves my chain absolutely clean and shinning like new.

What about b.u. Bhandari?? I gave my bike to My Wings honda (Near Kothrud depo ) for repairing .. Left 1 scratch on my tank fuel
. But rest was upto the mark i mean treatment ... They have sms scheme to inform u when the bike will be ready ... Nd they treat u like king (if its free service as true in ur case ) ... Tell them that U R a WALK IN customer and wants to give ur bike for serviceing ...
NOTE : GIVE BIKE AT UR OWN RISK IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SCRATCHESI respect the threat.

See what i observed is that diesel gives better results but you have to do more hard work. In my case it removed rust marks to some extent but not completely. Even motul chain clean didn't remove rust marks completely. Honestly speaking i dont care much about few marks on the side of the chain. The part which stays in contact with the sprockets should be clean and lubed. And also as we all know that these o-rings are designed to be of low-maintenence.Last edited by Mail2vasant; 05-01-2012, 12:13 AM.

Engineers from Rolon told me specifically not to use Petrol, Diesel or Kerosene to clean the chain; they asked to use the chain lube for the very reason the Orings get bulged & the chain looses its longevity.Originally posted by Mail2vasant View Postdiesel gives better results but you have to do more hard workSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Aargee even i had this confusion but once i got a chance to meet oldfox and he told me that diesel is the best option and even kerosen is fine but not petrol. In my opinion a set of chain+sprockets would cost around 2-3k. and if using expensive cleaner like motul will increase it's life by about 20-30% i would still not use it because i would have used at least 5-6 cans of motul cleaner on it.Originally posted by aargee View PostEngineers from Rolon told me specifically not to use Petrol, Diesel or Kerosene to clean the chain; they asked to use the chain lube for the very reason the Orings get bulged & the chain looses its longevity.
This will always remain a controversial topic.

Err...sureOriginally posted by Mail2vasant View PostIn my opinion a set of chain+sprockets would cost around 2-3k. and if using expensive cleaner like motul will increase it's life by about 20-30% i would still not use it because i would have used at least 5-6 cans of motul cleaner on it
1. I've used one can of Motul cleaner so far from 16K, right now its nearly 22K on ODO; even per HMSI, the chain needs to be lubed & cleaned for every 2K kms & a can lasts atleast 8 times which is 16 times.
2. You are going to or will be using...congratulations
I've used Diesel before & now switched to Motul chain cleaner (or keep it any chain cleaner for that matter) & I've EXPERIENCED both of them & know the world of difference that a chain cleaner can do (even if you discard the life of the chain)

That's your opinion. And that was mine. Actually i also keep a can of motul cleaner with me and use it if i am feeling lazy or don't have time for diesel clean.Originally posted by aargee View PostErr...sure

Motul takes less than a minute while Diesel takes...hold your breath...solid 15-20 minutes to clean with tooth brush that can be used only once & several small pieces of cloth to wipe out!!!Originally posted by Mail2vasant View Posti also keep a can of motul cleaner with me and use it if i am feeling lazy or don't have time for diesel clean.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
