    • Colour options

      Hey,...

might be a silly question here but i was trying to figure out the colour options available for the CBR 250....

I do know that they have a red & gray, Black & Gray and a Silver & Grey

I have also seen pics online of a pure black CBR 250 .... is that a an available option or are those bikes been customized ?

Doc, slider here costs Rs 125, even with 14.5% VAT its hardly Rs 144; BTW, I remember your challenge posted sometime back here stating spares prices were damn cheaper at your ASC

Regarding K&N, I'd suggest - STAY AWAY; reason stated in post #8200

Edit - See one more menace of it, one real time experience - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/813560-post.html. Should be really Thankful to ROCKRZ for sharing this incident, though its on a different rmotorcycle.

Fellow CBRers would remember my project to improve the riding posture of the CBR. The aim of the project was to make the bike a better tourer than she currently is.

The tension bar mod is a temporary solace; I will be training on odds and ends of Perspex with a heat gun with the view to change the shape of the upper part of the windscreen.

I have asked a friend in Thailand to get me a nifty accessory - a smart helmet box. Now before you guys start loading your guns, this is a completely detachable one and need not be an eyesore/thief magnet. It is available at thaimotorbox.com. Just go thru the site and the pics of some CBRs with it and most of you would be aggreeable.

Pics of the mod and the box included.

                Initial riding impressions

The front has lightened up quite a bit. The pressure on the inside of the palm, the wrist and the lower arm has reduced perceptibly. The posture is now a bit more upright than it was earlier. Strangely, the bike has given up the hesitation (as has been pointed out by a number of online fora) to turn in and now is able to bank into a turn much, much better than it did earlier.

I am planning a trip with a small load to Jamnagar in the coming few days and will update the highway experience accordingly.

                Regards,

                Maneesh

                • Test Rode a CBR 250r....

I did my first test ride of the CBR 250 and was not thrilled.... felt the engine was ruf .. the gears were changing smoothly either...

When I got back to the showroom i asked about the bike and came to know it was fresh out of the store and it still needed some service before its delivery to the new owner.

Just needed to know .... is that actually true ? Does a bike fresh in to the showroom needs to under go service or was the bike i rode the actual feel of CBR 250r ?

I know it wouldn't be fair to compare the smoothness of other honda two wheelers (Activas, Unicorns, Dazzlers ) to the CBR but did expect a lil more refinement.

Showroom rep did tell me he would get me a better bike, both the 150 and the 250 for a test ride next sunday so I guess i will have to wait for that.

One last thing i did notice was that the back plastic (tail light section) was just flimsy plastic... a let down from the rest of the bike. Almost felt like all the money was spend on the front end !! Any issues with rattling from the back end after extended use ?

                  • Answering your query from end....No there has been no rattling from anywhere, i have ridden my bike for 6.5 k till now.

Yes expecting Activa like smoothness from this machine you are not gonna be happy.

Yes a new machine from stock will never be smooth like a machine which has been run in. A one stats using the machine it becomes smooth a compared to when it was new. This is true of any engine, any bike or car.

I will post a reply only when I get to know as to how is it that a "Guest" with "n/a" previous posts is able to post in this forum wherein, postings can be done by members only.

Would the moderators be kind enough to educate me on this strange case?

I might have got it wrong though.
                        Dear Mik,

I have not understood the "shortness" factor. Does it feel short at the bead or at the diameter?

The rim dia for both bikes is 17 inches so I presume that you have found the bead to bead distance as lesser by one inch on the 150 as compared to the 250, right?

Are you sure about this point? Have you done this or is it just hypothetical? If you've done, please put up the stretch where you've done.

I have put whatever I know about the bike... If anybody, in reality, has acheived anything else, you can correct me..... I have not done this test in real, but then I beleive you dont actually have to do it to know the truth... what are the experts for after all...

Is it the case with CBR 250R or with any other bike like R15, Ninja 250R or CBR 150R?
Error in tacho on the meter is a very common thing and is on almost all the automobiles... So R15, Ninja 250 are no exceptions...

Yes, i meant the rim width (from googling i guess thats what is meant by bead to bead distance)
By the way - i partially paid for my CBR 250R today(to be used for the ladakh ride next month) - Will be taking the delivery on Tuesday - will ask the mechanic there if this swap can be done :-)
