Don't race, especially in traffic.Originally posted by strikepackage View Postok folks....this is for those of u who race in the traffic...I want to know how to shift gears to get max power from the wheel to the tarmac....i ask cause my friends 6yr old karisma almost beat me......in the quarter mile!!..but i did catch up with him in the end...so either i dont know how to shift or ....pls bring some light in to QUARTER MILEING...
As for those moments when you have an empty road in front of you. Rev high, pull in clutch and at the same time roll off the throttle, up-shift, release clutch and roll on throttle.
Or if you don't care about your gearbox: Rev high, put pressure on your shift lever, roll off throttle quickly, feel the gear shift, roll on throttle again. (Never do this for down shifting.)
For the rest, practise, practise, practise.

Seems to be PrinceOriginally posted by princesirohi View Postguys i wanna ask, this spare parts shortage is still a problem?
1. Its due for my SHIMS to be replaced (after 155xx odd Kms) but looks like the SHIMS aren't available over the shelf
2. HMSI has to replace the underneath cowl & side shields under warranty as they're turning greyish white. Despite placing the order during mid Dec, HMSI hasn't acknowledged or got back to the dealer despite following 3 times so farSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

the dealer is giving me a helmet and a teflon coating in 2000 rupees. obviously, i will not take that helmet, but what about teflon coating?
is it a good thing to have-teflon coating?
does it only protects from scratches or it can also protect the paint from getting dull, when parked in sun.
which color has least problems-red or black.
my office does not have a covered parking, so any suggestiions?

There's no such thing as teflon coating for automobile parts. They'll probably wax the vehicle mutilple times, thats about it. Personally i'd advice no1 to avail such dupe service.
Coming to color, all the 3 look great!!....Red is more common though.sigpic

So, you finally decided to stick to 2 wheels, anyways, get the Silver one. Dust is less visible on silver colorOriginally posted by princesirohi View Postthe dealer is giving me a helmet and a teflon coating in 2000 rupees. obviously, i will not take that helmet, but what about teflon coating?

. The black one will have the most maintenance(though it will look the best).
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

..it does not help especially on plastic bodies. these r just money making tactics.
x2..you can keep your color and shine if you clean the bike urself atleast once a week, cause if you have a cleaner he will not be cleaning in detail. all the best.

hi prince regarding the colour choice Antz.bin is right silver is the colour on which dust will be less visible,in fact my 2004 silver Honda Dio still shines like a new scooter, but my black CBR ..even though i love the colour is very hard to keep it shining all the time (i think ur pulsur is also black so u already have the exp with the colour)........ as far as teflon coating is concerned hope this link will give u some info....**********.in/teflon-coating-bike-guide/.Btw

The black one will have the most maintenance(though it will look the best).the thing is ...i am going to purchase a bike of 1.6 lakhs, the whole world is against me..thinking i am a fool. only my wife is with me...even my parents are shouting at my wife for supporting me....anyway.. i am very cautious and lot of small small problems about cbr and parts availability are making my mind having an argument with my heart.Originally posted by aargee View Post+Million times!!!

ok ok...... regarding that stupid question........i will tell you frankly, i have a habit of "not keeping anything in my mind, which is not useful to me" and for last five years i have been riding my P150 never thought of teflon coating, so never researched about it.
sometimes it happens ...guys...you know all the answers to all the difficult questions in exam, but still couldn't answer the easiest one.
and i am not an expert who knows all, i am just a biker and a bike enthusiast, and i am never ashamed of asking silly looking questions, and always eager to learn more.
coming to the topic-- i don't like silver at all. never gonna buy it, whatever the advantages.
black i have and red is what i always desired. only problem with red is that i have seen quite a lot of indian red colored bikes like CD100 or similar ...the color getting faded when parked in sun daily for 8 hours. so i need some advice on this....regarding red gets faded in sun?
don't worry about dust.
other thing is regarding paint getting peeled off - happens most in red or black CBR?
ok so coming back to teflon coating..

, i will not do it. so any other coating available/suggested.
i have gone through the 1st 300 pages of this thread...found some weird information like "no water wash" and things like that.
so asking what are your suggestions regarding wash and or polish and or coating etc.
@antz.bin: ya, buddy....its 2 wheels now....no small car...after say 2 years may be i will go for a car..something in the range of 7-8 lakhs...
i would love to be seen on a CBR rather than on a puny looking nano or an alto.Last edited by princesirohi; 02-24-2012, 10:10 PM.

^^^ Prince - Be it Nano or Ninja, issues are bound to happen. Issues crop up when you ask too much questions
Stop asking, start buying!!!
Get the bike from showroom & start riding; keep us posted if there're any waiting period, here in Chennai, they're available off the shelf. FYI, I'd spoken to the service manager from JSP & he confirmed that engine oil (10W30), engine oil filters, air filter box, chain sliders, headlight bulbs & shims are available off the shelf, atleast with them.Last edited by aargee; 02-24-2012, 10:22 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
