Brother Man Avidz,
Like aargee said, use your warranty and get the parts replaced. But i dont think you followed the instructions on the bike manual, its quite categorically mentioned that you need to use ample amount of chain lube when bike is unused or stored. Problem here is that most Indian mechanics apply a lot of grease on the chain which usually prevents rust, but a new bike coming straight from the factory needs to be lubed etc if you've riden it for 500 k in the dust and the prevalent humid conditions in Odisha. Besides this bike needs proper chain lube not grease so the mechanics wouldn't have applied that layer of pig fat grease. The Honda dealer in Bangalore gave me a starter pack which has a chain lube, i was specifically told that i need to lube every 1000k at the least, even lesser in dusty conditions (according to the manual too).
Keep ur chains lubed boys...
Cheers.

Exactly. I havent been riding around much due to college and exams and such but ive always ensured that before i store my bike away for a week or so, i would get my chain lubed at the ASC. Never noticed any rust to date. Its just a 5 min job for them and its free(atleast for me it is)
Also now that it is monsoon, get all ur bolts/nuts and other rust susceptible components sprayed with WD40. The ASC will do it if you ask them to or just get a can from outside and spray it urself.

And besides, the right way to check oil levels on this bike, would be to start the bike, keep it on idling for 3-4 mins, switch engine off, let it rest for 3 mins and then check gauge (according to the cbr250r manual).
So basically a one min warm up is absolutely no prob IMO. I'd say avoid idling for over 4-5 mins, that's going to cause unnecessary heat gen and strain cat converter.
Cheers mate.
Thank you bro!!!!!!!!!!!
@aargee can we update this info at the post 7800 (i cant recall the exact post) sorry correct me on this

Cheers mate.Start motors are usually designed to last a good while. In the lifetime of your bike you are gonna use it alot of times. My dad's 3yr, 30K kms old, city ridden honda shine's starter is fine even though my dad cant use kick start and he is very finicky about FE and switches off at every signal.Originally posted by Galactus.prime View PostThank you bro!!!!!!!!!!!

I ride a P220 and i follow a 15sec rule, if the signal is longer than 15sec i switch off. considering bajajs "reliability" issues with its starter motors i've never faced a prob.
Also idling for a long time is bad, and considering FI bikes, which can reach optimum temp very fast (which can be identified as a steady rpm) 1min idling is still long unless ofcourse its very cold.
According to this
IWillTry.org How many seconds of idling is equivalent to starting your engine
starting an engine consumes as much fuel as idling for 7-10 secs.
I follow the 15sec rule since i read somewhere that its the best between saving fuel/time/wear.
Since i cleared your misconception on starter motor wear and fuel consumption i guess idling for 1min is way too long especially considering petrol prices and that such long signals are very few.
p.s. it also saves CO2 emissions.

Yes indeed you did clear some of my misconception. However, Our CBR's when started have an ECU that pushes the rpm to around 2k before taking about 10-15 secs to get back to a 1.5 or 1.6 rpm depending on engine temps. I agree with mostly whats said in the link you provided, but there he measures with wave pulse which doesnt measure fuel/air richness while starting or ECU compensations which surely kick up at every start up, especially on this bike, doesnt with my activa though.Originally posted by yellowspunk View Post

So what i do is basically anything above 40 secs on the signal i switch off and put the engine back on Standby so the fan can run and the ECU kept ready. I start engine just before the signal turns green and most often than not, exit slowly to aid the start up to be smooth.
Anyway, thx for the link and info.

Yup, one ffrom r&g or something costs 4k. Here is d link of d guard I got done for my bike. It Stoppes stones and prevents bending of fins without obstructing airflow or there is minimum obstruction. http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/do-yours...tor-guard.htmlCBR 650F <02/2017>

Had a query..
If the timing chain is kaput, is it advisable to undertake a long trip of say 3000-5000 kms?
Asking cause mine is kaput and is making a weird noise. This is the 2nd time this has happened and I am disappoint that it happened so soon (less than 10k done before I replaced the last timing chain) - though I am unsure how long it is supposed to last on the CBR.Last edited by chicmagnet; 07-02-2012, 02:17 PM.

Advisable? I'd get your bike to as good a condition it can get to before undertaking a journey of over 3k kms. With the timing chain?? Get it set man, understand that mechanical parts are linked together on an automobile, if one part makes a problem and you knowingly set of on a long ride, you're asking its fellow mechanical components to adjust, and when they do it'll either be your bike getting screwed or worse if you're at high speeds.Originally posted by chicmagnet View PostHad a query..

I dont know about the life span of timing chains on this bike. Kindly advise people.

protecting radiator
Hi guys,
I got a HRC std this june 11th. Been following the thread since it started but never posted anything kinda lazy.
To everyone worry about the radiator fins getting damaged. Here is what i did to protect mine.
Just below the radiator there is a rubber mat that just protrudes a bit under the radiator. I took a piece of rubber and stuck to this existing piece of rubber so that it extends about an inch or inch and a half. The idea to block the trajectory of the stone that is being kicked up by the tyre. I know it is not a permanent solution but done almost a 900 kms with it works perfectly fine.
What this does is no real modification needed and it is completely hidden and you won't even notice it
Will post pictures if anyone is interested. I just cut up an old floor mat intro strips and stuck a strip of cardboard in between to provide some stiffness and wrapped it all in tape
and used fevi quick to stick it to the existing mat.

Are you sure? Because the duke takes around 3-4 minutes to reach optimum temperature when started in the morning after having been parked overnight. And this after the bike having a reputation of getting hot very soonOriginally posted by yellowspunk View PostAlso idling for a long time is bad, and considering FI bikes, which can reach optimum temp very fast (which can be identified as a steady rpm) 1min idling is still long unless ofcourse its very cold.
