Re: Honda CBR 250R
That's hanger pin. First remove the stopper pin pulling it out by pliers. Use a small nail which is used in furniture works (I use Allen key), put in the hole as indicated in below-mentioned picture. Hammer (tap) it gently, the hanger pin will come out from other side.Originally posted by leech View PostHow do we remove those slider pins on the brakes? Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello all,
I am new here and this is my 1st post. I have gone through almost every thread that is related to Honda CBR 250R, the reason was to gain knowledge and to know the bike as i haven't got a chance to ride one. I am from NOIDA and Ceeber is not available for a TD.
I bought a P220 in 2012 after visiting Honda for every single day for complete 1 month, in the end they refused to give me a loan because of my age whereas Bajaj agreed and i got my hands on Bajaj Pulsar 220F. Now it's been 4 years and i am confused, heart is still on the Quarter Litre Ceeber.
So i need help, i have gone through more than 2000 pages of all threads combined and i learned a lot about the bike.
Now, not much riders i found do redline riding all the time. Ceeber is a good cruiser and one can ride it all day long for hours. But, i rode P220 @ speeds between 135-148 Kmph for 160+ kms on Taj Expressway with 2 stops and that was for the Toll, maximum i did was 900 Kms in a day and applying brakes or de-accelerating only when there is no other option. So, the bike did served me good and never asked for too much of maintenance excepts for the tires(Currently on 3rd pair, 2nd Chain Set Total ODO - 47000 Kms).
I understand being a Quarter litre and 25Bhp i will be getting better acceleration but i am looking at similar top speeds.
I will get a bigger looking bike, but a heavier one too(Can be easily managed- No issues)
So not confusing you all, i have a question.
I redline my P220 everytime i ride it, even if i am going to work which is 8 Kms from my house.
Can CBR handle extreme torture(I mean real extreme)
My riding:-
Mixed-
I am one of those who ride 75 Kms to eat at Subway or Ohhh! Weather is good, Let's ride.
It can be 120 Km or more of bumper to bumper Delhi traffic, where one rarely get a chance to reach 3rd-4th gear.
It can be Noida - Gr. Noida ride(35+35 Kms) using all the gears up and down(Red-lining, Top speed runs)
Non-Stop Top gear rides, full on throttle - Taj Expressway(165+ Kms)
Hard acceleration - Until the engine refuse to take anymore and then give it another gear(Clutchless Upshifts)
Extreme hard De-acceleration(Engine Braking).
Sometimes in traffic i hold the revs on 4-6K rpm on 2nd gear and given some way to get past, take it all the way to redline change to 3rd and do sudden de-acceleration.
I rely more on Engine Breaking than the Bike's brakes.
My P220F does take all that beating and still never goes heavy on my pocket neither it lets me down. Though i have faced wheel locks(1 out of 100) when down-shifting extremely hard.
Last thing is that i need something that as if i am typing this(In the office right now) and my Boss says go home and i am giving you 2 day leave. I just gear up and leave for someplace far not even knowing the kilometers i am going to travel, stop when i feel a need and start riding again.
I ride solo most of the times, so there is no way i can afford to stand on an highway in the middle of the night as my bike failed.(I ride mostly in the night)
Now if i do ride this way, what maintenance cost am i looking at, Normal service every 6 -8 months, cost INR 2500-3000.
What else should i expect to go bad and will need replacing soon or again and again(Please also mention no. of kms)
For eg. - How much will the brakes last(Non-ABS), chain set, Engine Oil, Shims, camshaft, tensioner etc.
I will be going for Non-ABS, just for the fun of it.
I am pretty confused whether to go for the Honda CBR 250R as it will be a 2nd hand bike, so i will have to add money after i sell my Bajaj Pulsar 220F or i should just call up Joel(Race Concepts) get every upgrade he has for my P220 and make it beat a stock Ceeber on Top Speed run.
My Pulsar 220F has never let me down.
So , need something that just need a single turn of the key and can be taken anywhere anytime.
Please help and suggest.Last edited by Honeybhalla250; 03-16-2016, 07:39 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Bhai first the CBR's top end is restricted at the 6th gear in stock form, I touched 160 and Still had a good 1500-2000rpm left in the rev range because of the detuning in the 6th gear for better FE. I bought NY CBR on Sept 2014 and have 19500km on the odo and still going strong, not faced any issues. Coming to usage in traffic , I never had any problems apart from the mirrors while filtering. My fuel efficiency came upto 30-32 in the cities and 35-40 in the highways, note this is a rough figure on my use, a full tank in the city would get me 310-330kms on the highway I'd expect anything between 350-400 depends on how u rev and ride obviously. Overall from experience extremely reliable as Honda always have been from me, I upgraded from a Honda unicorn 2004 forks model, which was one of the best Honda engines ever. Now coming to you , U've been riding p220 for a while, but its just 7-8 bhp lesser than the CBR, my question why not upgrade to a twin or bigger bike? Im not saying don't go for the CBR, it is one fantastic ,reliable bike but u rather upgrade to a bigger bike in my opinion, that's all :3Originally posted by Honeybhalla250 View PostHello all,

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Bigger bike doesn't fit the budget my friend. My budget is 1 Lakhs after selling my Pulsar. Will go for 2nd hand CBR 250R.You got the point, the power i am seeking. And RC390 actually fills all my requirements, but then again.. THE POCKET.. You know.
I have always loved the CBR 250R. Thanks for the information provided. But what about the revving of the bike. Can it handle high revs all the time, how often will i have to get the fearing mounts changed or tightened. And if you say top speed is 160Kmph then i am asking about 140-160Kmph long runs. How friendly is the bike with revs?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I read your post. First of all Bro riding at such speeds in Highway is not safe and advisable. At least we hope you are suited up with proper riding gear when doin so.Originally posted by Honeybhalla250 View PostBigger bike doesn't fit the budget my friend. From your post, you seems like a very demanding rider.
As per my view, the cbr250 might not tick all your boxes. It is a capable machine and can take the high revs easily, but you are not going to get much with this bike in high revs. It is more towards relaxed tourer.
And the con of high rev riding will definitely reduce the engine oil life which will otherwise have 4-5k kms of life on mixed use. So you will be looking at frequent oil change intervals than expected.
And regarding the speeds, you should also have a look at the stopping power when the need arises. So you have to take a call on what you need to compromise.
You can look at either rc or ninja to fulfil all your requirements l, but you need to extend you budget a little.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks a lot to all, and yes i ride safe. Geared up with almost the best. And no matter how hard i try, i just can't cruise. Some disorder in my brain maybe. This has been a real help, guess i will have to wait and save some more. I will still be active here as its good to learn and maybe i can be of some help to a Ceeber rider sometime. Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.
I don't mind changing oil at 2500-3000 Kms. Bike should be good at lo revs, Top speed coming in slow is not an issue. It's the number it achieves.
Thanks again.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
My advice keep those top speed runs for deserted stretches, still risky, I ride a non abs model, I did the top speed run like 4-5 times, changing the oil every 3000 km is good for that sort of use, but changed the oil 1000km back keeping the speeds below 110, don't feel soo safe after hearing about accidents, always have to wear full protection, still no guarantee ull be OK. I did these runs will full protection and in the early morning on a empty Bangalore highway stretch from Chennai, this was a phase of the chai sutta ride. But u can tune the bike , get a airfilter changed and a free flow exhaust n ecu remap I think it will hit 170 types , I rather not pass the redline, it will destroy the engine.

Yes it does everything i need, I am looking for more power as the P220 feels like a toy now, i need something that should be tough to handle with my riding style, so that in whatever time it takes, that other bike become a toy and then i will look for something big again gaining skills to ride, ride hard and brake. I cannot explain it in exact way, but being a rider with experience you all can understand what am i pointing to.
Also if anyone can suggest, will it be worth getting the P220 Joel'd rather than upgrading to different bike?Last edited by Honeybhalla250; 03-17-2016, 02:01 PM.
