Re: Honda CBR 250R
I don't know if the display itself is not working or is it due to the water between the polarity screen and the display. Did you try pressing the console around the display? To get a better idea you should remove the console..Originally posted by Sergeant_DawG View PostRide Safe!

Re: Honda CBR 250R
What I'd suggest is remove the console, remove the excess water with mild compressed air, and let it dry up for a while using heated air and then see if it works, if it works, you can consider yourself lucky. If it doesn't, then it's better to get the console replaced. In the case of LED, you can try tinkering and replace with able hands as members like sman999 and another member had done it with success if I remember correctly. And do NOT PRESS an LCD screen, you might induce a crack on the polarity films inside, and if you do, you're cooked for good and chances are very high on a LCD that has been wet.Originally posted by Sergeant_DawG View PostYeah, other lights ( indicators, highbeam and neutral ) are working. The panel lights up...but blank.
Remove the console, give is some moderate compressed air spray, let the stuff dry, blow mild heated air, evenly and then see how it fares.
P.S. Discretion advised, do it at your own risk.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I think he has already heard from the SVC guys that he is done with the console. Lazy pathetic idiots they are. If he tries this he might be lucky else kaboom.. The only thing is he has to put in back properly to get the vehicle started and take it back for insurance claim.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostWhat I'd suggest is remove the console, remove the excess water with mild compressed air, and let it dry up for a while using heated air and then see if it works, if it works, you can consider yourself lucky. Sergeant_DawG One big question though. Did the SVC guys open the instrument cluster? Im asking this because if they did they would have already tampered the warranty seal. If not you better get replaced it and claim insurance as they might say that it was tampered by you and can't be covered in insurance. If claimed hopefully 50% will be reimbursed.Ride Safe!

Re: Honda CBR 250R
No luck. Just made the SVC guys to take the console out and blow it mildly with air gun. After the console was completly dry, then tried plugging it back but no luck. Then used another console that was lying around just to check. It worked. So happened to change the console fully. Then told them about front brake which was not stopping the bike as it was before. He told the front disc is a bit greasy, so he took it to the water wash bay and water-gunned the front disc. Finally when i got my bike, i could see the fins were damaged. I insisted him that, this was his mistake and told him to fix it. He refused and assured that nothing will happen to my bike. Such lame cowards these people.Originally posted by sman999 View PostI think he has already heard from the SVC guys that he is done with the console. Lazy pathetic idiots they are. Bad luck. Anyway you changed the console and that's Ohk. Just curious about what happened to the odo readings? Any warranty for the new console?Originally posted by Sergeant_DawG View PostNo luck. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Bad luck Sergeant_Dawg, hope that the bike does not gives you any more issues and keeps you happy.Originally posted by Sergeant_DawG View PostODO is starting from 0 again.
I always thought that the odometer is updated in ECU or something. But with this, it will be easy to tamper with the odometer reading right?
and if its the same case with other digital console(as most of them are digial today), then it will be impossible to trace back the actual reading unless its revealed by the owner
..
Little OT: even most cars have digital odometer, and even in that changing the console resets all the values to zero?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys.. My cbr console has some water condensed on the inside, between the plastic and the LCD display. Everything works fine, except that I cannot read the odo from certain angles. Is it worth taking the console apart to rectify it, or will the chennai sun do its job and vaporize it?

You can probably wait for a couple of days. As its going to be few dry sunny days ahead in Chennai. If the moisture still exist, then take it to SVC, and tell them to open the console and blow dry it using Air gun. Its actually a DIY if you are an expert, but still. All the best

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Use a micrometer to check if the disc is in spec according to the service manual. If there are severe grooves (due to brake pads not being replaced on time), you will need to replace the rotor. A new one costs about ~4K to 4.5K.Originally posted by backlash4u View PostGuys. Any idea how mucg the front disc brake disc cost? Mine is worn a bit too much... Abs version

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Earlier, the Contigo tyres were to be inflated to 28psi (front) and 30PSI(rear).
I changed my tires to michelin (stock size),
on the tire, The company has recommended to inflate it to 41PSI for both front and rear set.
So, the question is " Should I inflate it to 41 PSI or leave at 30 PSI ?
and since the tire dimensions are same, how come companies are specifying different inflation measurements?"
Thank you.sigpic

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Though I'm unsure, but probably as Contigo uses harder and thick component it needs less pressure as its having lesser space inside the tyre and opposite for the Michelin. May be someone can correct me.Originally posted by Avenger88 View PostEarlier, the Contigo tyres were to be inflated to 28psi (front) and 30PSI(rear).
