Regarding the Michelin, it definitely wont last long as its a softer compound. Dont even think of 20k on that. Cuz when i changed my from Michelin it had run only 8k+ and it was already deteriorating. What you say might be the case with car tyres(not sure though). Whatever, its your personal choice, at the end of the day you are gonna live with it. As far as from my experience, choose the same brand & compound for both front and rear tires as it would make a lotta difference. I didnt know that until i recently switched to radials from same brand.

Re: 7000kms+ review of MRF Revz on CBR 250R!
Saar!!! The cbr takes speedo reading from inside the crank. How can there be speedo error just by upsizing of tyreOriginally posted by sman999 View Post. The calibration has gone worse. When the speedo actually shows 100km/hr you actually do only 90km/hr.
please.explain.
I have few problems :
1. The horn goes weak while riding and while the blinkers are turned on ( alternator and battery
)
2. Bliping the throttle at higher revvs just shuts the engine off (i guess the ecu cuts off, but wait. I don't blip the throttle at redline. I do it at 5-6k rpm.
3. The bike gasps for breath near 4-5k rpm after I start riding when the temp gauge bar is at 1. After the temp bar reaches 3 points there is no hiccups and it works pretty fine. Its not a 1 day monitoring. I have been witnessing this behaviour since 10-15 days. So I am sure something is wrong or a bit out of place. I have checked the air filter though it has dirt accumulated on it but not so much that the air filter should be discarded.
4. theironhorse99 (aman), I spoke to few guys on FB (cbr international group) and got few pointers from them to fix the conset. Now I went to that guy to get it fixed, he charges me 500rs to.just remove the conset, grease it and then put back again as the conset did not had any physical damage. After he fixed the conset with his pathetic tools, the handle bar makes thud noise but at low level. When asked to the guy who fixed it he said "yeh spring ka aawaz hai itna aawaz toh rahega hi":banghead:. I said in my mind "chuti@# samjha hai kya" and then drove off. Please somebody from.pune help me so that I can get the conset fixed, I am really desperate for it.
I have checked Yug Honda Pune. As of.now they dont have a CBR mechanic so they can't fix the conset. I also contacted sterling Honda and the mech there is just not interested always a procrastinator

Yeah, i never thought of that. Sorry for being dumb! I know the speedo of the CBR and some how what i mentioned did happen. It came up only after changing the tires. Some body could clear that info.Originally posted by sanjaysangar1990 View PostSaar!!! The cbr takes speedo reading from inside the crank. How can there be speedo error just by upsizing of tyre

Could somebody read the speed from a GPS device/app when cruising at 100Km/hr and post it for reference?
1. Ur battery is weak i guess. Cuz the indicator is direct to the battery and when it sucks out 21w of power the horn cries if the battery is weak.
2. Might be because of bad fuel. Try draining the fuel and fill it with new fuel and check. We had discussed this few posts back please check.
3. How is the idling? does it gasp during idling with auto choke? (the first time you start the bike for the day)Ride Safe!

For obvious reasons there will be a conflict between speedo indicated speed and gps.indicated speed. What are you trying to.put across..?Originally posted by sman999 View Post

-->Will get the battery checked
--> using shell normal petrol and occasional shell v power ratio is 3:1
--> no gasping during idle, the gasping remains for few minutes when riding for the first time in moring and then it goes away. Will try removing the old fuel and fill in new. Lets see how it fares.

Sanjay, My bikes cone set was first replaced within 11 months of purchase under warranty, then again in the next 4 months the handling was bad again, that's when I procured the roller type and got them installed at the ASC. The problem with the stock / OEM bearings are that they are of very poor material, they give way in no time, our road conditions only worsen the situation. Secondly because the OEM bearings are ball type the area of contact between the two races is far less as compared to the roller type, hence when impacted due to road conditions starts to deform. A picture of the two races after just 11 months of use are as underOn lubrication & other issues refer this link http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...ml#post1026986
Replacing the cone set is a lengthy procedure and should be done at the ASC only as the tools required to knock out the old and knock in the new bearings are job specific, else the stem may get damaged. Rs 500 to remove, grease and reinstall both the bearings is a very reasonable price considered the amount of effort and time needed.

Due to Different diameter of tyres. A smaller tyre (in terms of diameter, not width) will give lower speed at same engine speed. Since speedo is connected to crank. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks for the input Bro! I did some googling too.Originally posted by hgps View PostDue to Different diameter of tyres. A smaller tyre (in terms of diameter, not width) will give lower speed at same engine speed. Since speedo is connected to crank. It will indicate higher than the actual speed
So the formula to calculate tire diameter(not the rim diameter) is
Tire Diameter in Inches = Rim Diam Inches + [ (2 x Aspect Ratio x Section Width) / 25.4]
My Tire 150/60 R17
Tire Diam = 17 + [(2 x .60 x 150) / 25.4] = 24.086"
Stock tire 140/70 R17
Tire Diam = 17 + [(2 x .70 x 140) / 25.4] = 24.716"
The new tire's diameter is less than the diameter of the stock tire.
So the actual speed is lower than the speed indicated in the Speedometer. As the speed goes up the variation goes up. Error is directly proportional to the speed. Usually there is speedo error in our bikes, say +4km than the actual speed, now added to that, this makes a huge difference. So i was approximately right. When i was cruising in 90/91KMH as per the GPS the speedo reads 100KMH. When i go higher speeds the error gap increases gradually.
I noticed it cuz, i know the feel when i cruise usually at around 110KMH but it felt little slower than that.
If im wrong please correct me.
Ride Safe!

Simple. Forget the complicated formulas, bigger tire, slower speedo reading, smaller tire, amped up speedo reading.
Sanjay, actually I think the VS Sensor as it is called it isn't from the crank, it's bolted to crankcase but I guess it reads the speed from the transmission output shaft, do not confuse this for the CKP sensor which has a different purpose.Originally posted by sanjaysangar1990 View PostSaar!!! The factor is the tyre diameter and not the tyre width.

Precisely, Maneesh. I am talking about the tire diameter, not the width. Consider this even too big a width and too thin a profile can affect speedo readings.Originally posted by sman999 View PostYou mean bigger tyre, slower actual speed than the speedo reading, smaller tire, amped up actual speed than the speedo reading.

Re: Weird sound from engine (CBR250R)
Regarding this, I am unable to remove the chain tensioner as of now and show you how step by step. So what I did was I consulted with my mechanic and he claims it can be done with out removing it. If you had just put on a new tensioner the spring would be just fine. All you have to do is keep it tensioned by putting the 10mm bolt until there is no noise from the tensioner.Originally posted by sman999 View PostI had a similar problem. What they said was that the noise was because of the chain tensioner. So it was replaced and it was good for some 200kms. Then again they asked me to replace the chain tensioner for which I did. It costs around 636Rs. I was pissed off. I examined the old one it was good.
I gathered info from local mechanics and read many articles online. The spring inside the tensioner tends to gets loose as the bolt holding the spring doesn't have enough groves or the bolt is loosening frequently. So finally I decided to replace the chain tensioner bolt with a manual DIY. I bought a 10mm bolt that is long enough and replaced it. You have to remove the tensioner check the spring and then install the new bolt. I'll post a pic sooner for clear idea.
Now finally that noise is gone. Did this some 4 months back. Try and let me know if it helped. Get some help from local mechanics of you are not sure of what to do.
The 10mm bolt. It's roughly 1.5inches in length.
This is how it looks after fixing it.
Just unscrew the center bolt in the chain tensioner with Allen key 5. Then screw this bolt until it's just hard enough to screw anymore(do not over tighten) and close the nut so that it doesn't loosen again. Adjust a bit more if you could hear the noise yet.
I'll definitely post a detailed write up regarding when I find time to take off the chain tensioner. As of now I don't have the liberty of time to do that. Really sorry! Please bare with me guys.Ride Safe!
Cheers,
Maneesh S

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi All,
I am new to the thread, hence ignore my ignorance about the review points that has already cover in the thread. Just pointing to the section will work.
I have ZMR for list 4+ years completed 50K k.m. and now planing for upgrade or change of bike. Hence short listed CBR 250 R as one of the option along with Thunderbird 350 (though I am more inclined towards CBR and wife towards Thunderbird).
Can some please let me how much is the maintenance cost of CBR 250 R per service and how does common parts (disk pads, chain kit, air filter, etc) cost, heard that it's too high with Honda bikes. I being a ZMR user has one of the highest maintenance cost in Hero stable.
I just love the new colour and graphics that CBR family comes with.
Thanks in advance.
