I am 5.7, no problems. Just wear shoes and keep your feet spread apart on the ground while idling. I have dropped the bike 3 times at standstill, though, in the early days, coz my feet didn't reach down fully, plus the cbr250 is my first riding experience. [emoji23]Originally posted by judebrent View PostI am 5.7 and have my mind on the CBR 250R ABS, would I be able to manage it? Hi all, would also like to know whether it makes sense buying the CBR 250R at this point? Is it outdated when compared to newer bikes like Pulsar RS200 and The RC 390 etc? I am looking forward to a smooth ride with the best upright seating position. I also prefer something with ABS, hence had shortlisted this one along with the RS200! Hope the CBR250 would receive parts & service at least for the next 5 years. I am from Mumbai & have heard that at times getting spares can be an issue and maintaining this bike is actually an expensive affair! Is that true? Also read articles that the new graphics are just to clear old stock which haven't been selling well off late due to increased competition. Purchase would be imminent! Advise would really be helpful! Thanks
About cbr250 vs rc390, I feel the cbr has an edge in quality, and looks. The rc looks and feels like a cheap toy, IMO. On the features and performance block, rc beats cbr250 hands down. Please text ride both and make your own decision.
On upgrading from zmr, the cbr is only slightly more powerful. Not worth it. Rc is better bet. Mojo has top speed of 150 as per some reviews, plus the acceleration timings are similar to cbr, iirc.Last edited by leech; 12-21-2015, 11:06 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Depends on ur needs, CBR is a highway machine/pretty decent commuter, rc is a track tool plus used as a commuter as I'm not very aware of that of ownership experiences as per commuting, obviously in terms of power CBR is beaten but the CBR 250rr will beat rc390 all over if it comes out next year, that aside, i can make my CBR give me 40+bhp power with some severe modding cause I have the resources, like bigger piston, boring work, ecu tuning, and exhaust, I jus put a temporary custom exhaust pipe and immediately I noticed a big difference in torque atleasr, didn't open her up as I'm on rear 140/60 tyres temporarily .Originally posted by leech View PostI am 5.7, no problems. Re: Honda CBR 250R
It is possible to power ur CBR to 40+ bhp then that's a track focused CBR with new clipons n other mods like bigger bore, piston, exhaust, ecu tuning, etc, but it's not too compare with the 390s, comparing with Rs200 I'm not sure, still bajaj's quality is questionableOriginally posted by wasim.wassu View PostI am 5.8 and I own a CBR 2015R STD 2012 Tri-color, no issues in managing it.
If you are focusing on Engine refinement then CBR 2015R is better of the three. Also, you can cruise with 3 digits all day long
.
In terms of power it is no match for RC 390 but it is better than RS200 at any given day.
Service: so far never face any issues like unavailability of parts.

Better to update to a twin cylinder motorcycle than single tbh, I'd personally say go for the ninja 650r or benelli 300 ,r3,ninja300, 600i, are better step ups depending on ur budgetingOriginally posted by leech View PostI am 5.7, no problems. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello @judebrent
The CBR250R is still a brilliant bike, specially the Red one.It absolutely justifies its price till date and even if i had an option for Mjo,RS200 i would go for CBR amyday. Its a reliable bike and an engine so sweet.Every bike has some issues but then its how you grow with it and fix those issues.Ita a machine meant to ride in our terrrible India roads and yet it withstands just fine. Its comfortable and a well deserved sports tourer tag.
Regarding RS200 i would say no>its Bajaj and i can say you that you will have to visit ASC petty often.I own a AS200 and its not much diference wrt RS200(Its just that RS has extra 1bhp and FI,but also weighs almost 10Kgs more).I would say stay away from RS200 as no doubt its cheap but then you get what you pay for.parts are cheap and you will have niggles here and there.
Give 250CBR a try ,take for a TD and see how it fares and see if it needs your requirments. If it fits then yeah you can buy it eyes closed as its a very very reliable machine.
DDuke390 is a monster and frankly speaking it suffers a lot of quality issues, specailly the recent batch.one of my friend took and his bike just stopped for no reason until he saw couple of wires are out and spak plug is gone(had to replce it actually while bike was new and 2481 Kms on the ODO).Now that doesnt mean all dukes are like that.I have seen dukes which is in awesome condition even after 30000 Kms.
The difference between the two is the QC done .I am sure Yamaha ,Hondas have excellent QC and thats why you see recent CBRs being very less faulty from factory compared to the Bajaj.
Hope this info helps...Last edited by xplod566; 12-23-2015, 08:10 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
CBR has exceptional quality, I had a few unfortunate standing falls n 1 accident, bike frame n parts were fine, only side fairing was damaged but replaced it cost me 1900, it was fine, overall I'm pretty pleased with the bike barring the exhaust note n low end torque, otherwise couldn't have made a better jump in 2014 from my unicorn 150 2004 forks modelOriginally posted by xplod566 View PostHello @judebrent

. Duke on the other hand is mad power but, a full tank on touring would give 220-230 max n that too highway, my CBR gives me a good 250-300km almost comfortably, if I keep the revs below 5k rpm, highway only can imagine 300-350 -400 easily!
I like to add another thing, CBR is one of the best bikes to mod up, I mean its got lot of space for upgrades, like bigger, bore, piston, crankshaft, basically increasing size n cubic capacity of the bike, from personal exp, I changed my stock exhaust to a custom pipe, n immediately noticed a big difference in torque n higher smoothness in all the rev ranges, also there is ECU tuning too, what I'm saying it possible to convert this bike into a track beast n easily an output of 40-45bhp is possible, that is as powerful as the duke n rc 390 if not the same figures

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hey guys another problem here :/
Recently my cbr was running on low oil for quite a while and i could feel more vibrations throughout the rev range, and i thought it was because the oil had worked for 4k kms and my bike had chain tensioner issue.
But last week engine check light came up when i started the engine!
So i topped up the oil it was like 400ml less than it was supposed to be and fixed the chain tensioner issue with the DIY suggested by sman999 ( thank you mate it worked )
Now after everything sorted again at times the engine check light comes up while starting the engine and the revs fluctuates until the light is on ( 2-3 secs ) it goes as low as 1k rpm!! ..
Can a low battery cause that ?
Any suggestions on what could be the problem or why is it happening??
Note: The engine check light goes away after the few secs check up made by the engine after turning the kill switch on and comes on again at pressing of starter button and it doesnt come up on every starts only like once in every 5 starts.
Addition: Today early morning i went for a ride, Took her for like 15kms and back and now when i checked there was some coolant leakage from my bike, the underbelly had like 10ml of coolant.
I check and there i saw a hole from which the coolant was leaking it is under the oil filter! Is it the screw for coolant flush loose or something causing this to leak!?

Thanks.

Re: 7000kms+ review of MRF Revz on CBR 250R!
i was on a 15 day south india trip hence could not respond.. saw the posts now.. dont worry. if any more issues we will figure it out.Originally posted by sanjaysangar1990 View PostSaar!!! The cbr takes speedo reading from inside the crank. How can there be speedo error just by upsizing of tyre
please.explain.
I have few problems :
1. The horn goes weak while riding and while the blinkers are turned on ( alternator and battery
)
that's pretty normal... do not bother.. 2 indicators together suck 42 watts (21 watts each).. its gonna be like this..
2. Bliping the throttle at higher revvs just shuts the engine off (i guess the ecu cuts off, but wait. I don't blip the throttle at redline. I do it at 5-6k rpm.
fuel filter seems to be the culprit here. it did shut down on me a few times.. maybe 2-3 times a year...
3. The bike gasps for breath near 4-5k rpm after I start riding when the temp gauge bar is at 1. After the temp bar reaches 3 points there is no hiccups and it works pretty fine. Its not a 1 day monitoring. I have been witnessing this behaviour since 10-15 days. So I am sure something is wrong or a bit out of place. I have checked the air filter though it has dirt accumulated on it but not so much that the air filter should be discarded.
that's again normal. between 3-4k rpm when not at 3 bars the engine feels restricted. once warmed up in a km or so it gets normal. its been same with me since day 1
4. @theironhorse99 (aman), I spoke to few guys on FB (cbr international group) and got few pointers from them to fix the conset. Now I went to that guy to get it fixed, he charges me 500rs to.just remove the conset, grease it and then put back again as the conset did not had any physical damage. After he fixed the conset with his pathetic tools, the handle bar makes thud noise but at low level. When asked to the guy who fixed it he said "yeh spring ka aawaz hai itna aawaz toh rahega hi":banghead:. I said in my mind "chuti@# samjha hai kya" and then drove off. Please somebody from.pune help me so that I can get the conset fixed, I am really desperate for it.
I have checked Yug Honda Pune. As of.now they dont have a CBR mechanic so they can't fix the conset. I also contacted sterling Honda and the mech there is just not interested always a procrastinator
are you talking of prasad's workshop ? 500 is pretty reasonable charge man.. coneset overhaul is a lot of work. that thud sound can be just a minor loose coneset. just get it tightened a bit. after a overhaul and a few 50-100 km its normal for a coneset to get a little loose as it sets in again...
Cheers,
Sanjay

Re: Honda CBR 250R
That's the coolant leaking from the coolant weep hole. Usually, coolant leaking from this weep hole is an indicator that your pump seals can give away at any time or already working over time. Poor coolant replacement schedule, high engine temperature can cause problems with the oil impeller seal. Get it checked ASAP, it is only progressively gonna get worse, if not looked upon, this being the heart of the cooling system. That hole is there to let us know about the condition of the pump seal, it isn't supposed to leak, if it leaks (as in your case, it does) replacement is necessary.Originally posted by Zaid77 View PostAddition: Today early morning i went for a ride, Took her for like 15kms and back and now when i checked there was some coolant leakage from my bike, the underbelly had like 10ml of coolant.

Regarding the engine oil, can you be bit more precise. How much oil did you fill, any idea of the oil present in the engine before the top up? Clear us a bit here, so that we can probably get our arms around the issue.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Nopes. The coolant overflow tube is routed the left, as you see those three grey tubes clumped, one of the tube is drain and even if does overflow, it is is supposed to be from there. This is clearly from the weep hole as I can see, this is an impending pump/seal failure.Originally posted by sanjaysangar1990 View Post^
Can it not be coolant overflow ?

Do you think it will be under warranty!? as my bike is still in the warranty period.
About the oil now.. When i check it wasnt showing any oil in the inspection window when the bike was straight, it only showed when i tilt the bike towards the right side.
As per me im guessing the oil in the engine was around 1ltr before the top up and after the top up its now slightly exceeding the Higher line on the oil inspecting window.
So it should be like around half a ltr of oil i had put for top up.
My bike has done some 28k odd kms.
Thanks

Guys I want to know if its possible to fit a aftermarket abs on your bike? The service centre obviously says u can't, u either get standard or abs, I want to thoroughly know if its possible? Abs is vital on highways n should be made compulsory for bike with 200cc plus, I jus want to know any such option of aftermarket abs is available?
