Guys,
Met with a minor accident the other day. No scratch whatsoever for me. My headlight got broken and few cracks in the fairing
Yesterday i bought a new headlight assembly from Medavakkam Maansarovar Spares for 2550Rs. Now headlight assembly will be fine and back to its shape. I am very much worried about the fairing (mostly the right cowl). These cracks might even get worse if they open the fairing for installing the headlight. Worst case: might change the fairing cowls depending upon the damage involved. And we know that getting these fairing spares will take ages. :/ Any alternative fixes? or centers where i can get them?
Very painful to see my bike like this

Regards,
Sumanth.

Fairings are very low cost and you can get them soon enough, depending on where you are. If you have one of the older colours, it will take longer, but Honda will definitely get spares to you, just have an order placed for the damaged parts.

You can use Araldite as a temporary fix for the cracks, but it won't be a long term solution.

Sorry to hear that! But at times S*** happens. Here is the number of Didar Spares, Egmore - 044 45546444. I always used to get spares from them. They even had the silver grey color parts for my CBR250R. Call them, check whether they are available, Take a scooter and go grab all the spares. I remember the side fairing costs around Rs.1300. If you dont want the fairing replaced i can suggest a good mechanic in Anna nagar. Ping me if you need the details.

How did you guys resolve it?
I faced this issue twice in a week after recent service. I thought adulterated petrol or the pressure washing might be the cause. Before this service, there were no such issues at all. I have refilled petrol from another pump to see if the adulterated fuel was a real culprit - and stalling hasn't occurred till now (have rode to 30 Km only after the refilling). If it occurs again, will go ahead with earth-wire mod.

Thank you!

Has happened to me as well recently, Twice or thrice. I also doubted the same, the fuel. Also after a recent service(3 days back), the mechanic at the Honda service says the fuel is bad and smells weird. I had the same feel before i took her to service station. Cuz when i warmed up the engine at morning before riding, the fuel smell out of the exhaust was weird. I thought it might be due to the cold weather these days. So now after the mechanic said so, for precaution, i sucked out all the fuel from the fuel tank using a tube and added fresh fuel now.

Is it sensible? Fuel going bad? Is there Any thing else i must do?

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Got the cone set changed 2 days back and now the front forks when fully compressed makes a noise. I guess its tighten to a greater extent than required. Am i right? Is there anything i can do at home to mend it myself without taking it back to the service station?

Also they managed to take the rubber bush on the side mirror screws and throe it some where. Bl**** morons! The one mechanic who can properly handle a CBR 250R in Haritha Honda, Madurai is now gone. I cant take her to chennai as of now due to floods there.

Do update your experience on this new refill. I hope the issue would be resolved.

Usually cone set bearings get set within few days of ride. The gap makes a "thud" kind of noise on sudden braking or in potholes. You need to tight it again within couple of days. That is what I have experienced on my other motorcycles, especially RX. I am not sure if CBR cone set does follow the same trend. Experts may opine on this issue.

Thank you!

good that you removed old fuel and refilled fresh one.
new coneset does gets loose a bit sometimes and its common across all motorcycles. it will need to be tightened to the proper spec and i would you to go to SVC again for it. if overtighten it will adversly affect handling and also kill the bearings sooner.

as for the rubber cap for mirror they do have it in spare. ask mech to find one.

• Weird sound from engine (CBR250R)

Hi,

I have a 2011 model Honda CBR250. It makes this very loud and weird noise from the engine. It is so loud and weird that I feel embarrassed while riding
I went to Honda ASC here to get that checked and they changed the chain tensioner, both rocker arms and installed shims of the correct size. All went well till 1000-1200 KMs and it again started making that weird sound. I again got that checked by the ASC and they installed new chain tensioner once again. After another 500 KMs, that sound returned. I went to another Honda ASC this time and they checked the sound and informed that timing chain is faulty and they replaced that.
With the new timing chain, the engine got very smooth but that sound again returned after another 1000-1200 KMs. I went to that second ASC again and they were now clueless. They checked the clutch but couldn't find any issue, checked rocker arms again and tried replacing them for testing but no luck. They then called an engineer from Honda. The engineer advised that the sound is from cylinder. They are now asking to get the cylinder changed which would cost around Rs. 25000. I am a bit skeptical now and need your advise as I am not sure if this is going to fix the issue. They have already changed a lot of parts and now this cylinder

Thanks in advance
mods: I am not sure how I should attach these 2 audio clips so I attached this Onedrive link. Please let me know if this is not as per the forum rules and I will remove this link but please also suggest how I can attach these clips.

Hello fellow CBR owners.
I am Pushkar from Pune.I am new to xbhp.I have recently bought a CBR250R full black with graphics. My first service is due in the next week and I would like to have some suggestions from you all on what are the things to be kept in mind for the service.

So far i have completed 600 kms on the bike keeping in mind the run in procedure. I have never ridden her above 5k till now. Will complete around 850 kms before the service.

One more thing i would like to know is does the service centre give us a report of valve clearances after the service? I don't have any valve issues but to be on a safer side i would like to know.

Thanks.

Guys any idea how to get the shine on the black fender and other black plastic parts of the bike. It has a slight whitish haze and looks a bit old.

But after a nice Teflon coating at the SVC, it becomes dark black again for some time. Any other solution ?

Hi all,
Last week I gave my bike to a nearby mechanic to fix my headlight. But due to the flooding in Chennai and merciless rains, it has taken a toll on my bike too.. The bike's engine or the exhaust was not submerged, but was under rain for 2 days..now my instrument panel is not working. It starts perfectly, indicators working fine, horn is good and so are the headlights. Pass light switch is not functioning. But i've noticed that once the headlight is switched ON, the instrument panel lights up, but it displays a blank screen. Neither the speedo is working. I went to Velachery Maansarovar Honda SVC today just to check what was wrong ( i suspected that to be issue with the fuse). He checked the fuse and said it was fine. This is supposed to be Instrument fault and i have to change the whole instrument panel itseems. He quoted some 7-8k for it, but told me to claim some using insurance. Please help me get through this. Should i proceed with what they say?
I have lost my helmet, now this...Just don't wanna hurt my bike anymore :/

So sorry to hear that Bro. If I were you I would dismantle to do some pretty usual jugaad that "may" fix the instrument panel. It would be badly due to the water getting on to the circuit board. Are the other lights glowing? Abs, neutral, indicators, highbeam?

If the fuse were out then you wouldn't be able to start the bike. And if you happen to change your instrument cluster all the kms clocked will be gone.
