He primarily owns a tz 250, lc125, rd350 track spec, rd350 normal, a couple of aprilla 350 frames, and many more. Well he's gonna put a tz engine on the aprilla frame and use for the track. He did all the Suzuki gixxer sf bikes for the Suzuki cup, soo making parts is not a issue, but I will heed your advice, I'll be honest , I hate the stock exhaust, I wanted something more gruntier and something which makes the bike feel free to ride. I'm planning on a custom made exhaust system, after that I'm only taking into consideration of ecu re mapping, but obviously I'll do all the necessary research, beyond that I plan to rent out my bike that is the conversion of a track bike, but not overly extravagant changes, jus drop in weight and some power increase. But for now exhaust system is in the pipeline and any other do's or dont's ya recommend for slight modding, for city riding and touring?

If price/money/budget is no bar then:

    1) This has already been discussed in the earlier pages... You may refer to Fuelmoto: Fuel Moto - Motorcycle EFI Tuning, Exhaust Components & Performance Components or else Dynojet: Dynojet Automotive and Powersports Dynamometers, Performance Fuel and Ignition Products for aftermarket piggyback fuel management system and an alternate ECU with custom tuning options. What these after market system do is fool the stock ECU into pumping a bit more richer AFR (air:fuel ratio) thus making the vehicle run on a richer mix and generate a little bit more power. Due to OEM stock gearing and rev limiter, no matter what you do: the top speed will never increase but then the way the vehicle would accelerate to reach there will reduce drastically. Rough cost: 25-30K

    2) Lighter mag wheels: Marchesini or equivalent which reduce the overall rotating mass thus reducing strain on the engine. The vehicle will accelerate better.. in a lay man language it is like wearing sneakers for a 100 mtr dash instead of heavy steel toe army boots... you can imagine the outcome.. But then they do cost a moon! Roughly: 1- 1.5lkhs

    3) Full exhaust system: Technically gains are not that much with a full exhaust system but due to reduction in restriction of exhaust gasses at higher rpms the engine would love to rev quickly. Downside is the powerband will also shift to a higher range which may be good for a track day but absolutely a pain for daily city riding. Also the loud noise emitted by the exhaust is an absolute NO NO for anybody wanting to go for a long ride as due to harmonics, the exhaust will tire you out.. not to forget it makes your bike liable to be caught and fined by a traffic cop as they are deemed illegal. Plus with a full exhaust system you will also need aftermarket piggyback fuel management system to compensate for changes in exhaust back pressure which will result in leaning out the AFR with stock ECU. Rough cost (branded exhausts) 30 - 50k.

    4) Ohlins/Racetech Suspension: For better tractable feel and custom suspension tuning capabilities.: Rough cost 60k - 1+ lkhs (for front and rear suspension system)

WARNING: I donot advocate/recommend/promote any of the products mentioned here. It is the sole discretion of members to make an informed decision based on their research.

If you do the math for cost per bhp Vs the gains you have received by going for the mods above: on a practical note, it doesn't make any financial sense. It is purely for a performance enthusiast or someone who is dedicated to racing where every ounce of weight saved may lead to a tenth of a second faster lap times etc.

Instead if your budget permits: in a year or two start hunting for a well maintained used Ninja 650R (70+ bhp) which should be available in your state for around 3.5 - 3.8 lkhs and can do 150 - 180 kmph all day long. All the performance you want without losing on reliability or longevity.. Common sense would make one route for that instead of spending equivalent amount just to gain a few bhps. But then again not everybody is same right?

    Good luck...

Yes, so many myths about engine oils going around - one major doubt I have is - does smoother engine mean better oil? And what are the Jaso and API standards for, if only synthetic oil is to be used.

Doesn't protect the engine that well.
Fs- fully synthetic.that's the engine oil you should look once your bike completes almost 7000 kms.gives your engine full protection from wear and tear and you can rip your bike with this engine oil.it's smooth and meant for bikes above 200cc.
You can ask your friend not to use mineral as its not helping much .
First of all oil change ,depends on the rider and the manner the bike is handled, for very rough use riders 1500-3000, for very mixed condition riders every 3000-5000km , for very calm, progressive riders 7000km or more

What I meant was when to switch to fs oil wrt to a new bike.since he already crossed 7K kilometers a long time ago so suggested him to change to fs oil

Any CBR 250R owners from Ahmedabad?

Looking to have lots of work done on my CBR, and also trying to figure out a good service centre to start off.

But most urgently, need a battery to start my bike, it was under transportation for 3 weeks ( from Chennai ) and upon landing here, found that the battery has gone kaput !

What are the specs for the battery?

Battery generally lasts up to a year, 12000-15000km , atleast the stock one , I got in my bike... I think u can get a more powerful and better battery but not sure about the brands.

What work do you need done on the bike?

I would recommend Universal Honda followed by Punjab Honda for service.
See if the battery can be charged, if it's an older battery (3 years or so), get it replaced with the Amaron 7ah.

Also suggest you read this entire thread and the CBR (my story so far) thread to know your bike better and get a proper perspective of what you need done.

What is the price of OEM silver clutch lever and left bar end weight (black)?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I tried to search but found prices of aftermarket/adjustable levers only.

Full story incase someone's interested (will take some anger off my mind maybe)

My landlord's housekeeper took my bike for a joyride in my absence (they have a duplicate key to my room). When i returned, i found a lot of dirt on my bike's left handlebar, fairing and footpeg. Upon a closer inspection, i found that the clutch lever was bent and there were scratches on its tip, on the tip of left handlebar end weight, on the foot peg and on the fairing.
Neighbor's guard saw him taking my bike for a joyride. That guard told me that my landlord's housekeeper almost dropped the bike when taking out of the driveway, and had trouble finding correct gear before starting off.
I am extremely p***ed off as i never dropped/crashed a bike in my life and this d*****bag dropped it. He's denying that he ever took it for a joyride.

Any suggestions (maybe i am going OT) on how to deal with this will be highly appreciated
There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

                    Honda CBR 650F / CBR 250R ABS Repsol (Sold) / Yamaha FZ-S

Damn, CBR is one strong bike, had a few instances where my bike has dropped from a standing position and 1 crash where only my side fairing got damaged but I replaced it and bike was normal, no fender bend, nothing. Build quality of the CBR is one of the best in my opinion.

Guys, What would be a ideal price to pay for a 2011 Model CBR non-ABS with 30k on the ODO? Seller is asking for 1L. Condition of bike is decent.

I would also like to know what are the points one should keep in mind before buying a used CBR.

Very unfortunate to hear this, you can take the bike key with you where ever you go. I can only think of this as the best option.

Coming back to the spares, I have no knowledge about the price, but regarding the lever you can try to remove it and straighten it by beating with a wooden log/hammer.

Once my bike fell down when my dad tried to move it out of the stand. The frond liver almost took an U shape, but it came back when I straighten it with hammer. Make sure you use a wooden log else keep a cloth on the lever to avoid damaging it.

for bar ends you may need replacement.

About 5 years of running and only 30K on odo?.

That is what the seller claims. Don't know if ODO on CBR can be tampered.
                              Any comments on pricing?

Take the value of the abs model and calculate depreciation for 4 and a half to 5years from the purchase value. Main things to check is fairing, service intervals, single owner or?, is the frame intact, check the engine health, make sure the odo is not tampered with. Check for any bends or dents. Check the tyres and also find out when was the last tyre change, oil filter, air filter, battery, radiator, coolant, find out what engine oil was used. Also see how the engine was run in, if the owner was a sensible rider, u can expect a mileage of 30-32 in cities and 35-40 on highways but the expected mileage is 27-30 in cities. Check the suspension, brake pads, abs. Its ideal to take a known mechanic to do a thorough check up too
