Re: Honda CBR 250R
Apart from what theironhorse99 has mentioned, just ensure that sufficient engine oil is present before you start her up. Hope you did not drain the engine oil during storage..and the oil should be at normal levels before you fire her up.Originally posted by hypheni View Post

I belive the engine oil is okay but still will have to check it before I start the engine, and then will change it once I reach SVC.

So I should take the battery to any charging point and get it charged before starting the bike? And regarding the fuel pump priming I don't have much knowledge. Was searching on the web but not very clear to me.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Fuel pump priming is no rocket science, its just the engine kill switch. When you switch on the engine kill switch the yellow Pump light glows on the dash board. Thats called fuel pump priming. I am sure you might have done that many times in your 10k kms ride.Originally posted by hypheni View PostAnd regarding the fuel pump priming I don't have much knowledge. Oh ok!. That means once I filled the tank with 3.5L of oil and battery is 12+ V charged I need to toggle the engine kill switch 2-3 times before buzzing the self-start button?Originally posted by sanjaysangar1990 View PostFuel pump priming is no rocket science, its just the engine kill switch. Re: Honda CBR 250R
finally i have my d-day
it is a 2014 january make standard version with hrc colour showing 5250kms at the time. a initial check up n a test ride of 2-3 kms shows the signs of a good kept bike. as the owner went abroad, it was laying in the parking by the owner. so deal was finalised at 1.15 lac and now she is resting in my place.

after enlightened by the heavily dispersed knowledge
from this dedicated thread to honda cbr250r, i shortlisted some of the primary workings on my ceeber which needed:
1. changing OEM engine coolant to engine ice or motul motocool whatever is available. reason: as already on low level and need to get top up. i feel, engine ice or motul will be the best in serving the purpose as the engine temp reaches very soon to 3 bars within 1-2 kms ride(not beyond 3 even after 275 kms of continue riding at 85-100 kmph).
2. giving it shell rimula 4 15w40 treatment for 1000 kms so as to double sure that the engine if suffered in the past, will be taken care of.
further switching to shell ultra advance fs 10w40 post 1000 kms.
3. changing brake pads. i observed a pattern formation on front rotors thats why. however they have a good bite n dont have screeching sound (like rubbing of metaalic pieces rubbing). but as a preventive maintainence. also topping of dot3 fluid.
4 going for a 3m treatment. the very idea behind this is to make her to her former glory.
if i am missing any thing please let me know. your valuable inputs are highly desired.

also on my returning journey of 300kms, i stopped my bike for a small puff break
. after getting relaxed
i just for the curiosity, take a walk around of my bike to check any abnormality, when i discover the ticking sound from the rear wheel near rotor. the engine was off inspite of that the sound is coming. tried hard to locate the source but couldnt find one. please help.

that's the exhaust cooling down, pretty much present on most 150+cc 4 stroke bikes.Originally posted by road_shredder View Postalso on my returning journey of 300kms, i stopped my bike for a small puff break

thats the cat-con contracting when cooling down. as mentioned almost alll 150cc+ makes that sound and more prominent when new.
prime the pump multiple times before hitting the starter. this will ensure correct pressure in the fuel lines all the way to the injector.Originally posted by hypheni View PostOh ok!. unsure on the issue with side stand please explain with more detail and i will try to help you. yes get the battery charged completely and then toggle engine kill switch few times.Originally posted by hypheni View PostThanks both. What about the side stand?

i have never seen anything beyond 3 bars in 35k km's neither other fm's even twice my ODO hence engine ice at 1300 bucks a L does not makes sense.
unless you are riding in heavy traffic all the time.
2. giving it shell rimula 4 15w40 treatment for 1000 kms so as to double sure that the engine if suffered in the past, will be taken care of.
further switching to shell ultra advance fs 10w40 post 1000 kms.
yes can be done, get rimula 15w-40 run it for 1k and then shift back to Shell Ultra FS then change every 5k.
3. changing brake pads. i observed a pattern formation on front rotors thats why. however they have a good bite n dont have screeching sound (like rubbing of metaalic pieces rubbing). but as a preventive maintainence. also topping of dot3 fluid.
the pattern formation is pretty normal for any disc and 5k is hardly any usage for the disc. just inspect the pads. also NON-ABS cbr came with DOT3 hence flush old fluid and replace with DOT 4 (tvs girdling, motul , KBX) anything. and follow this flush every year.
4 going for a 3m treatment. the very idea behind this is to make her to her former glory.
i am unsure what 3M would offer however any good detailing job will do. on a side note if there is no scratch marks or deep swirls. buy products and check out the motorcycle detailing thread and DIY detailing. over a period of time the machine will be back to how you want it.
if i am missing any thing please let me know. your valuable inputs are highly desired.
air filter change , oil filter change , start using system-G. use up the old fuel and make sure new fuel is in the tank, tyre conditions , chain cleaning and lubing , battery condition etc.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi,
I was going to get a new CBR250R, but got a good deal on a used one, done 8100KM on odo, with each service records maintained on paper (6 timely services including 5 free ones) with KM mentioned. It is 10/2011 model, registered in January 2012, still has extended warranty valid till January 2017, and the motorcycle is in great shape. Rode it, went to ASC and had a full check up at Prakash Honda, sector 10, Noida. The technician changed the coolant, radiator fan relay, and front brake pads. All done. There is a quite minimal chik chik kind of noise coming out of engine only when it's hot. When I start the motor in morning, there is no sound at all, but when temp gauge reaches upto 1 to 2, a chik chik or kich kich kind of sound occurs at low revs. CBR technician said it's shim sound and is normal, almost every CBR has it. I asked him to replace, but he said there is no need to get these shims replaced now. Your bike is more silent than others here. It will be replaced, but not now. It has good power output. No issue with power output at all.
My only concern is should I get these shims replaced now or follow the advice of that technician? I heard other CBRs too, those were having more noise than me.
I will appreciate your valuable suggestion on this chik chik...Last edited by arvstreetracer; 09-03-2015, 06:12 PM.-----

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thank you, Road_Shredder!
I was combing OLX for last few months. Visited some owners as well. I prepared a check list and was checking every vehicle according to that. I found this perfect as per my budget for a used one. And more of, the owner is a genuine person. He demanded 1 lakh. After multiple trials of negotiation, he was brought down to 85K and the deal finalised. This is a standard version. It has been more than a week since I brought this vehicle home!-----

Re: Honda CBR 250R
You mentioned that you got some parts changed. So was that done under warranty? It means that warranty is valid for the second owner as well, right?Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostThank you, Road_Shredder!

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello Tanay!
The parts replaced were consumables i.e brake pads, coolant, and radiator fan relays and are not covered under warrantee. I asked the Honda dealership regarding existence of warranty in case of owner change and yes it is valid. The warranty details would be transferred on my name soon. It's just a myth that warranty goes void on change of ownership.
Thank you!-----
