I don't see any harm in dismantling the wheels. You can get it removed at the SVC then take the rims to the paint shop and get the job done. This is the only way you have to do it. And even if you order new rims, you will have to remove the wheels and tyres as well to accomodate the tyre in new rim. There won't be any harm.

I am able to hear a kind of knocking sound from engine post 6000rpm.It slowly starts once crossing 6K rpm and sound is not so loud. I can hear it only when I ride it with helmet visor open or half helmet. My bike is 6 months old 5k kms on odo,I noticed it post run-in time onwards. but Engine is smooth and no vibrations. Is that the behaviour of this engine? I didnt ride any other CBR to check it

Did you go that fast or are you saying that the speedometer is faulty?

Folks, Does the Petrol tank lid close the opening completely and rest flat on the tank surface or is there a difference in height between tank lid and tank surface after locking the lid?

Conditions could be in the bike's favour, like tailwind, your weight, downhill and less wind resistance, engine breathing more freely due to the air filter. The number is not shocking.

One request to all the forum members, whatever you have achieved as a top speed please keep it to yourselves. There isn't any point discussing the same. All you are doing is setting a benchmark and then all top speed crazy folks are going to try and end up in the third world.

Nobody is against top speed, but refrain from.sharing those numbers.

One fellow in the 150r thread achieved 150kmph on the speedo dash and when he tried again it was struggling to go past 135kmph.

              Cheers,

The speedo is alright, i was trying to tell that the bike is capable of doing 160, although not easily. On all the previous attempts, i was not able to cross 158. I am not able to understand why people are not able to cross 135 because i cross 145 easily everyday.

It is normal a bit of uneven gap is acceptable, until you are able to lift the lid even when its.locked.

135 kmph is a real world figure considering average conditions which includes average THINGS.

And you are doing 145kmph everyday. May god bless you and your ride.

What do you think, nobody is gone past 150. Nobody is discussing top speed runs is because IT DOES NOT MATTER.

If I tell you the truth, few people have achieved what your speedo said but nobody shares it because, lets say maturity kicks in.

Please stop the top speed discussion as its not a productive discussion. Period.

that knocking can be multiple things. as your engine is relatively new

                      bad gas
                      foul spark plug
                      wrong valve clearance.

change fuel bunk and rest get checked at 6k service.

it does close and the gap might be an mm or 2 nothing more. take a pic from side angle

All speedometers have a 10% tolerance.
Hence the reading is never perfect.

I would suggest you to refrain from going so fast just to test the top speed of your Bike.

Don't worry I do it responsibly wearing all the riding gear i can and only on empty stretch of roads. What i was trying to say is that there is something wrong with the bike or the driving style of the guys reporting max speeds of 135 only.

smaller engines due to less torque are hugely affected by even slight wind or load change. even 10 kg lesser load can show you speeds you have never touched before. on a cross wind day with a 80kg rider cbr 250 will never cross 135. i can bet. however remove cross wind and make the rider 70kg and it will hit 100MPH on speedo.

cbr speedo in asian models is supposedly 6-7% over optimistic.

and yeah rim exchange idea sounds good
wanna take a almost 40k done rim ???

Well the bike is rated for 145 but all that depends pn test conditions.
                              1. If you are a bulky guy then the bike would not reach its top speed.

I have red-silver colour and was thinking to change it into red-black. (Fairing red & rear panel + rims black) using the parts from latest CBRs.
Though it is just asthetic point of view, i have not taken this mod seriously.
