This is a query regarding service checkup lists.

ODO is 7.2K in last 14 months. All 3 free service done. Now going for paid service. Could you guys please list me the things to checkup. Engine oil will be changed along with oil filter. Apart from that some handle bar loosing (very minor) issue I'm facing. I have listed some work to be done, but not sure what more to be done.

    1. Wash, Chain lube.
    2. Engine oil change, oil filter change.
    3. Air filter clean.
    4. Coolant checkup.
    5. Break oil top up is not required as I checked the level is quite good.
    6. What else ?

Last time visited SVC for a wash, lube and paint of exhaust muffler, they ridden the Bike for a test and told me some check ups need to be done for swing arms, but I didn't understand exactly what was the issue, as I didn't feel any problem. I told no need to do anything apart from wash and lube, and I came back.

Could you guys put some lights on this ?

      6. Look for brake bite.
      7. Front wheel wobble in case of hard-braking. Might need wheel alignment
      8. Check for front suspension oil-leak, since the sealant tends to wear out after a while
      9. Ask for Rubber-mount on Fairing if you are feeling the vibes, it wont eliminate, but reduces significantly. you can do it by yourself by putting a double sided stickers. This dampens the vibes to an extent.
      10. Check the back break oil as well
      11. Disk pads, check for any screeching sound.

        Forget to update

As I post in this thread here the false engine crank problem now solved for the time being and I hope it may not be back again, Didn't able to ride bike much till now as the festive season already begin and due to heavy traffic it is very hard ride around unless it is Highway which I'm going to stay away just now, Don't want to stuck miles ahead from the Help.

Here is the expenditure & servicing.

        -- 24/09/2014

        1. Tank wash & Injector Cleaning Service Charge - 600/- (This solved the problem hopefully)

        -- 28/09/2014

        2.Oil filter - 270/-
        3.Air Filter - 293/-
        4.Honda 10w30 Engine Oil -1322/-
        5.Bolt & Drain Plug Washer - 40 /-
        6.Chain Wash & Lube - 250/-

        7. CBR Service / Labour Charge - 500/-

As this new SVC try to sign some AMC book which I strongly denied, According to them if I buy AMC, CBR Service charge will be down to 250/- for 3 service and one free wash for an year.

P.S:- I'm little bit stunned when I found every spare parts which is essential for CBR 250 readily available off the selves, Reason may this facility a new start-up.

I am a newbie here, almost read all the posts. I am looking forward to book a CBR 250 but I am confused with all the rumors (or truth :P) regarding launch of new CBR. Is it right time to book a CBR 250. I am posting here in ownership thread because I guess you guys can help me out.

              Thanks in advance

Wait till end of this year / starting of 2015. Probably dual headlight new models are in pipeline.

If under warranty or extended warranty you can get it replaced FOC. Else they will ask you to replace the entire console costing over 6K. Any radio/tv mechanic could do it for Rs.100.00

                  • Honda CBR 250R: Changing LEDs on the instrument panel Video guide

                    Hi All,

It seems quite a few CBR 250R owners have had the unfortunate experience of their MID (Multi-function Instrument Display) panel's blue LED light either flickering or eventually dying, leaving the owner frustrated. In this case if the owner's bike is under warranty then the panel is usually replaced free of cost by Honda, if not then the SVC recommends to replace the whole instrument panel which costs somewhere around INR 6,000/-

I was doing some research, looking for an alternative instead of the "bank balance breaking proposition!!" of losing 6k on a new panel: whether one can replace the LED bulbs inside the MID at the third of the cost. I finally managed to find an amateur video explaining the whole process of how to replace the blown LEDs with new ones and that too at a procurement cost of just 200 bucks. I am still trying to find out about the exact details of the make and voltage ratings of the LEDs used on the instrument panel but hopefully, if one simply shows the damaged LED to an electronics shop as a sample, the guy should be able to match an equivalent rating LED for one to do this DIY.

I believe this will also allow the owner to customise the colour of his MID unit by choosing a similar rated LED with a different colour instead of blue ones thus, changing the overall illumination of his/her MID panel and the glow behind the speedo unit.

FAIR WARNING: It requires some understanding and basics of opening, cutting, soldering and how to treat/handle an electronic board. If you are not confident about the same, you may approach a local Radio/DVD/TV/mobile repairing shop where the guy is locally known and is reputed to get this job done. So unless you are an electrical engineer with hands on experience or an enthusiastic DIY'r who doesn't mind taking risks should things go south, i would advise to choose the latter option. Since, the source of this information is third party, don't blame me if the TV/mobile repair guy screws up your MID panel... it is indeed a possible risk you are taking but nonetheless if at the back of your mind, you are anyways prepared to shell out 6k for a new one, trying this method shouldn't hurt you one bit.

Hope this adds a little more something to learn from in this ownership thread.

                    Cheers,

                    • Hey. I am in the market for a new bike and I am a Honda fan. Both with 4 and 2 wheels. Dad had an accord and I loved it because it was reliable. So I figured my first two wheeler must be a Honda. And it was a Honda Dio at age 15.

Now almost 3 years later. The only problems I faced were created by me ( 3 slip and fall in total [ never above 20kmph ]) except for the tyres getting 18 punchers in the first 6 months. After which I got Ceat gripps.

Then in the last two years I never had a mishap. I never thought of replacing the Dio but now I have a commute of 40 kms to college and I will need something powerful to take on the journey every weekend. So I turn to my trusted brand, Honda.

Problem is I love the CBR 250R but I am most comfortable on a cruiser. Also I hate fairings, to me it just is a bit too bulky up front. So you may say I like nakeds. But Honda does not currently sell a quater litre naked in India.

My plan is to buy a CBR and convert it to a naked. Or at least remove the fairing and stick a headlamp up front. However it is a little tricky since the warranty will mostly be void and I will have an extra fairing lying around.

This type of a conversion has been done though I have lost track by whome it has been done. So I request you guys, my fellow Xbhpians. Help me in my problem.

I forgot to mention one thing. I am a student so finance is dependant on dad. He is not very keen on letting me ride that far on a motorcycle ( parents I tell you ). Since he will be funding it, it cannot go over 2 lakhs or he will buy me a Bullet. Not a problem but just a bit too heavy and powerful for now

                        First the Good bit-
I measured the milage twice and was amazed.
In heavy city traffic- 33Kmpl.(That too during Durga Puja)
                        On highway- 36kmpl.
Last time I checked 3K kms back, it was around 30-32 kmpl.
I think, the Mileage is increasing in proportion with the ODO.

                        Now the Bad part-
                        1. During cold start, bike wont start unless you rev it hard. Earlier the cold idling RPM used to be 2000, which used to come down to 1.5K once the engine is warm. Now it starts at 1.5K. Does the FI needs tuning?
                        2. Every time after starting the bike, it produced irritating "fhad fhad" sound as if the silencer is cracked or somthing. After about 1 minutes, it dies down, and everything is normal.

Can anyone please shed some light on this??

for me FE has been consistent 33-34 for the past 26,000 km.. till today...

however now that you stated that bike wont start unless you rev it ???? this seems to be an issue. maybe a choked injector and if so you are putting additional pressure on fuel pump. get the injectors cleaned. also reset the ECU..mine did not miss a beat even in ladakh after being parked outside in snowfall overnight and as the first crank it always came to life...

places to check and improve :

                              clogged injector : cleaning
air filter : check and replace is needed
dirty fuel : start using system-G. works well. my personal opinion.

now coming to the "fhad fhad" its pretty normal if you are using a thicker grade oil. for me it did not do the same when i use Honda Engine oil however once i moved to Shell ultra which is 20-40 and is thicker.. it does make the same noise for bout 30 seconds and back to normal. just idle for a min and then start riding...

I did think inazuma but i am not fond of Suzuki as much and it is a bit too expensive for me. Duke is also a good option but 200 is too less and 390 is a tad too much.

I have only a little riding experience. The first bike i rode being a passion pro and the heaviest being a Harley Davidson Fat Boy. I have ridden Royal enfields a lot my cousin has a 350 Classic. But Royal enfields are heavy and I want something with a little less matal and vibrations. I am concidering a Thunderbird; though it will be a weekend bike which will stay at campus so i can use it when I dont go home. But when travelling home i need a lighter yet powerful bike and i personally feel that the CBR 250R fits the bill. Only without the fairing.

I am 5'8" I have a hefty body suitable to Harleys. I love the cruiser posture but on daily and long riding i dont mind nakeds.
