    1. Poor quality - But, is HMSI so dumb enough to compromise quality on such things? I doubt
    2. Worn out brake pads

Kill switch worn out at 100K on ODO that's all I can think off. I think engine kill switch is something cool & use it from day one, its nearly 16K on ODO now.

Can't really think of any issues; sorry; but just remember to keep it switched OFF for prolonged periods because, the fan might get turned ON consuming battery power. I was told the fan consumes considerable power.

Yes its one of the coolest feature but when I used it on my FZ16 this FI pump on/off was not there. on cbr each time FI pump on/off puts me in doubt.

Ok thanks for the info. After the riding from Bglr-Chennai and back I am getting huge rattling noise from the fairings. But its more visible only during the idealing, maybe on the move I can't differentiate rattling sound with engine sound. Need to check with the svc. BTW what about your bike. got it after the Service?

          • @RG you are forgetting me.. My bike had the shim problem since the time it was delivered. . You are aware of the rest of the story. Even after the head assembly replacement, the shim problem was still there. Eventually they replaced them. My ride style has been the same as yours. Since the replacement of shims the bike is super smooth. Would like to mention my bike was giving 21-24kmpl initailly & now the worse what I get is 33kmpl.

By the way since the time I bought this bike the following thing have been replaced with 4 occassions of the bike getting stalled in the middle of the road (3 times within the city & once out of the city):-
            1) Shims
            2) Alternator (If I'm not wrong)
            3) Head assembly
            4) Coneset

The SVC guys give me a royal treatment for being a regular there. I've made some good friends over there to kill some of my time when I'm there.
My bike has hardly done 3k kms & I've made n number of visits to the SVC.

ASS people have no answer.... i have reported this problem on every occasion ... but all in vain ... if any one can help me it will be very much helpful for me...

              1. SHIMs due for change; ask ASC to check the valve clearance & give you a report (if you ask, they're supposed to give it for you)
here in my ASC the two words are some kind of ban for CBR owner i,e "Tappet Noise" & "Valve clearance"....wish here service is as good as Chennai.

Heard about switching off the bike using clutch ??
i do it most of the times [all the times], hold the front brake and slowly leave the clutch while on gear ... engine will switch off itself

doing it from past 3 years on my R15, don;t faced any considerable prob so far

No idea on the cost of cone set.
Non ABS brake pad costs 625 + tax, total of which will come close to 700 INR. Cost of brake pad is same for both front and rear.

Ya that's why i put the rear disc pad of P220's. its around 200Rs/- and still in good shape. Stock worn out in 7K. Lets see how P220's will last, now its already 3K+.

                              How much was the installation.

One thing that always pops into my mind is anything new to be installed on the bike generally needs to go under the cowl and that means removing the same.
If its not reinstalled it may severly cause integrity... cause vibrations as lot of people have been complaining...

There is a video of how to remove the engine cowl and install it back on the youtube website. In addition i was able to draft a detailed manual(not the tiny book HMSI provided) from data on the internet, forums, HMSI wesite and youtube channel. What became clear to me is removing and reisnatlling the cowl is not a piece of cake and theres is a lot of room for errors.

@all fellow CBR owners.... just a note .. whenever you have anything non-stock installed on your bike... and the engine cowl is taken off please make sure you stress-test the bike once it has been reinstalled or best get it done from a HMSI ASC and pay the mechanic something extra as he has been trained to do things correctly.

I have been seeing a lot of CBR owners installing P220 brake pads on their bikes instead of the stocks by giving the excuse of cost which is a difference of around Rs. 500.

Now please note that care must always be taken when fitting non-standard brake pads, as operating temperature ranges may vary, such as performance pads not braking efficiently when cold or standard pads fading under hard driving.

The reason why P220 brake pads are cheaper is because they material used in them is probably low metallic or semi metallic where as the ones on a CBR are ceramics or Non-asbestos organic pads. These are not as loud as the metallic ones and are a little more heavy duty.
