How about everyone else? How much has your second brake pads lasted?
Yes I accept it varies according to the riding, traffic etc. In any case a 3.5K life is too bad which I can't agree

Well my 1st rear pad got changed at 5k kms and since 700rs for rear pad which could stand only 5k kms, i believed it wasnt worth it so got P220 rear pads for 192 which was quiet affordable if i had to change it every 5k kms and also now the byte of the brake is as good as the stock ones.

          • I am planning to gor the CBR, went through the 650 pages on the thread. Got scared of the defects but got inspired by the good performance.

Have a question though. Heard that changing the tyre wud hamper ABS functonality. So my question is what if we replace the 140 spec rear tyre to 120 and 100 front tyre to 120 as in P220. Would that effect Abs? The thought of changing tyre specs because i am more of straightliner than cornering. Would love to increase the accelaration of the bike without major mods. And hope decreasing the tyre specs would help.

            PLease advice!!!!

If you'd gone through, then, you should've also learned that, there're no such defects posted in recent times. The newer batches have better build quality.

I'd first suggest, you buy the bike & think about replacements later rather than thinking about replacement first & buying the bike. If you're interested in such tire sections, then opt for a bike that offers that tire sections in stock condition.

Whatever be the tire sections, you cannot really improve straight line acceleration to noticeable by changing the tires.

You will not gain anything as far as acceleration is concerned by downgrading the rear from 140 to 120 and upgrading front to 120. The bike's handling will obviously be hampered with such experiments.

Best bet is to wait for the CBR 150R then.

                  +2 for the post

Best bet will be CBR 150R if you do not like the 140 rear section of 250R.

                  • One must keep in Mind that while the 250R sports a 250cc mil it does not mean the bike was actually meant for racing. There is more to it than just race everyday, for eg: the ability to cruise without redlining all day in 5th/6th on National Highways doing an average of 100-120kmph without stressing out the engine.

OT: This is very random and on a personal experience level i noticed the people who dont complain about the CBR's lack of flickability are the ones who are below 6 feet and weigh under 80kgs
The "Above average sized" guys absolutely love it because of the fact that the bike pulls with all the weight they put on it with ease

Is it because people with more weight find it as flickable as lightweight people on lightweight bikes?

P.S Am i the only guy who always rides with his running lights on?

Went for a spin early morning today. Theres a long stretch of road where she touches 140 in 5th :/
I somehow didnt notice the bike was well over the red line until i noticed the power being cut from the rev limiter?
Luckily i noticed it before i would permanently damage the internals

What's this flickability means? Can someone help understand? FLICK literally means quick; and in what terms CBR is not clicking to flick? Acceleration? Maneuvering? If it's in terms of maneuvering, then that is something close to zigzag riding & I don't have a say on this anymore!!!

test drive the R-15 to experience it in a way words can never do.

Have done that 2 yrs ago on Apar's 1st gen. But the point is if its not flickable its not. There's no point comparing two bikes from 2 different segments right? Either the rider should change himself or get R15 for flicking.

                          • Flickable is amount of ease the bike shows while changing direction.
It is a function of Steering geometry, Weight, weight distribution, unsprung weight on the front wheel and width of read tyres.

R15 is inherently more flickable primarily due to its weight (or the lack of threrof) , and steering geometry.

CBR is not as flickable mainly due to its longer wheelbase and weight. However international magazines note that CBR is sharp, but not very stable around corners (as compared to Ninja).

Please note that Bigger CC bikes tend to be less flickable, primarily due to weight and wheelbase. So, when you get your 600cc bike, you would notice that it is far less flickable compared to the 150 and 250's.

True, but when someone upgrades from say the R-15, the "lack" of flickability will obviously be noticed because his riding style was built on the R-15. Its always relative. So his style needs to be changed, or if its too big a red flag, don't upgrade

                              • This weekend, went over the ASC for regular check up(after each 1000kms)
With the ODO clocking in at 14000Kms, got my front and rear disc pads replaced
(first time ) and also the chain set. ( total bill came to 3800)

Also asked them regarding paint coming off near the engine , but nothing fruitful yet. Will follow up with them again and update if anything turns up on that front
