  • Re: Honda CBR 250R

Hi, I came back to this thread and want to share my opinion about it too. I really appreciate all your photos and points about Honda 250R and I think, I should agree that this model is good. I became eager to ask my relatives' opinion about Honda 250R because I find it cool for teenagers, aside that I have known Honda brands for its reliability and popularity all these years. Foremost, I have known that 250R is super fast to those who have tried it already.

a 250 is just apt for new as well as seasoned riders.it can give a run for money for higher cc bike owners if in right hands. it can happily do 70 mph on interstate highway all day in legal limits and still give over 80 mpg.

I have only a little riding experience. The first bike i rode being a passion pro and the heaviest being a Harley Davidson Fat Boy. I have ridden Royal enfields a lot my cousin has a 350 Classic. But Royal enfields are heavy and I want something with a little less matal and vibrations. I am concidering a Thunderbird; though it will be a weekend bike which will stay at campus so i can use it when I dont go home. But when travelling home i need a lighter yet powerful bike and i personally feel that the CBR 250R fits the bill. Only without the fairing.

I am 5'8" I have a hefty body suitable to Harleys. I love the cruiser posture but on daily and long riding i dont mind nakeds.
Power to weigth ratio of Duke 200 and CBR are almost the same, if not higher for Duke 200. So, 200 should not be less for you, unless you consider Cubic Capacity of the engine as the benchmark for your purchase. Give D200 a try.

I did like the duke a lot and I love the way it looks but yes my basis was on CC. I forgot to compare the power to weight ratio. I will test ride the Duke soon. Lets see what happenes. Thanks for making me realise this.

One thing though... one of my friends has a Duke 200 and CBR 250R. He says that the duke is nimble but lacks quality. Is that true?

I am talking all this about these bikes but I might end up buying the Avenger or Bullet. Lets see which bike I feel the most comfy in....

Anyone has any idea on the Hyosung 250N?

Duke is generally a good bike but few customers have received bad apples
Most of them are coolent leakage problems you can see them here

I bought my bike & ride home less than 60KM... Found oil leak & lots of white smoke from exhaust ...KTM Quality or parts issue? KTM smokin hotzzz ... Suz.... :(

If you find good supporting service center then it can be fixed or else better sell it

Any bike especially 200 cc & above has one problem Finding Service guys whom actually have an idea about what they are doing.
Let it be CBR, Hyosung or Bullet... Good service center makes all the difference.
I have 2011 CBR 250 ABS model no major problems at all small wear and tear kind of stuff only And it always goes for servicing with only service center Didar in Egmore Chennai that too around break of 5500-6000 KMS .
Best part today also the bike starts on cold morning with just push of button even the throttle is not required.
Only problem is if a part needs to be replaced you might end up having heart attack because even the freakin side mirror replacement costs 600 bucks in SVC.

I was kind of like you did used to think that fairing is pain to use in traffic but that changed when I started using CBR. I commute around 30 KMS everyday and I do have FZ also when but somehow I feel less strained on CBR because of two things there's no opposing air because of fairing and the suspension just works very well for me. Its not track ready machine like R15 but I don't do racing either.
Also I have seen you never mentioned that you took test ride so I would recommend go for test ride feel it then make your mind this goes for any vehicle you buy rest of your life Always remember "MACHINE CHOOSES YOU NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND"

Well, you cannot say it lacks quality, but sometimes the bajaj parts tend to give away. For instance, I had a huge crack in tank cover. They changed it under warranty alright, but these things should not happen otherwise.

On the other hand, my friend has a CBR 250R, whose left and right fairings are dispropotionatly mounted and svc guys say it is normal. So, it can be precieved as part and parcel of it.

Well, I want a bike which will not cause too many problems. I will also be doing most of the service myself. I have access to a fully equipped garage in my college. Also my trainer who runs and maintains the garage is amazing with bikes. Any problems I hvbe will be looked after by him and he is very friendly.

Another thing i asked about was the hyosung. The college i am at has been donated 7 hyosungs because it is in partnership with them so I can even recieve a discount from the college and support for the bike.

I think I have mostly made it clear that servicing is not a problem. However I cannot afford to fix the bike if it has some major problems. ( I spent about 12k on my Dio in the first six months and my mom says this should not happen as none of our other scooters had this also I paid about 800 per service is that normal? )

                        Hey nagoo,
this happened for me too, with the first rear tyre, which also had collapsing of one side of the shoulder and then replaced it under warrenty and now on the current rear tyre too, but for me there is no air leaks, more like surface cracks but with pretty deep cuts.

A very good replacement tyre would be the Michilin Pilot street radial tyres, comes in the stock sizes for the cbr and costs at 5k for rear and 4k for front , inclusive fitting and all charges should cost you around 10k.

Option 2 would be the duke 200 tyres the rear would be a upsize by 10mm but the bike handles well with this tyre. I would strongly recommend michiin though.

                        Cheers

CBR250R has a tube frame and the CBR150R uses a truss frame.. both have different mounting points and also just by looks we notice that the cbr150r is smaller than cbr250r hence I don't think the fender eliminators would have the same mounting points.
