And which fuel do you generally use ? HP / Bharat Petrolium / Indian Oil
I use Normal petrol from Bharat Petrolium pump (24x7 Emergency pump) which is near my home since 2001 all my vehicles in General ,Rarely I use to top up my CBR another BP pump which is just situated at Airport at VIP road & Jessore Road more. If CBR need fueling at Kolkata I use Theater Road's HP petrol pump (only exception) which is situated at near Kolamondir Bus Stoppage where the Shakespear Saroni begins (near Audi Showroom).

Once I also top up from Female/Ladies operated BP pump at Bhagaha Jatin at E.M Bypass.

Not all pump stock good petrol, I usually avoid any Highway Pump where Trucks are standing, They usually move Diesel in good quantity but not Petrol...so when if we refuel from them it already old degraded in quality. (Well that's my theory).

hmm.. one more time proved that CBR is sweet on road with decent power but not for track.. BTW you got a nice experience.. I wish someday I get some similar opportunities too..

Or am I mixing two different things here
Can some one clear my doubt regarding the tyre pressure... Just for the information am currently using 40@ rear and 30@ front.

40 at rear is too much.
Manufacturer recommends 29 psi in both front and rear for single
And 29 psi front, 33 psi rear with pillion in cold tyre.
Since on a track, tyres go through repeated assaults that too at faster pace and get much warmer in a short time as compared to road use, it is common practice to run anywhere from 2 to 6 psi less depending on how heated the tyres get as the track day progresses

Yes I have said to the mechanic that I follow 30 on both tyres, but he insisted that 40 should be kept at rear and 30 in front. This just happened yesterday so I will revert it back to 30 now.

cmon bro... duke is a 45 bhp machine compared to cbr 26 bhp.. there are no two thoughts that it will ower power cbr anyday.
the whole deal is the engine refinement and ample touring capability....

get system G. use it 1 ml per litre. will keep the tank and lines and injector in better state...

40 is going over board however company and manufacturers mention cold tyre pressure.
so if you fill in daytime after riding a fem km... doing 34-35 will be fine. but nothing beyond it.
as it will adversly affect the riding and tyre life and balance of the bike...

mechanics dont know crap... see your tyre.. on either side of the walls you will see the max psi rating..
for dunlop's it 40 however thats MAX.... so if you fill 33-34 during mornings with considering that tyre hasn't warmed up.. and then ride for long distance it will eventually reach 37-38..

at 30's i always feel under inflated... for front 30-32 is fine.. rear 30 is just too less..

personal opinion.. dont start a war on this folks..

I agree, CBR cannot be compared with Duke/RC 390. CBR is designed for comfortable touring whereas Duke is a street bike which can tour and RC is an out and out track focussed bike.

                • Honda CBR 250R maintenance Schedule: Workshop manual

For those who may be interested:

                  1) Maintenance Schedule as per the workshop manual: For the international CBR there is no special fuel filter whereas for the Indian and the Asian models(as per the workshop manual India), they have mentioned that the fuel filter should be replaced @ every 48,000 kms interval for consistent performance. I cannot verify this whether the Indian models actually have a fuel filter. If so, i guess following the workshop manual should benefit the riders

                  a) The international workshop manual maintenance schedule:

                  b) The indian workshop manual maintenance schedule:

Fuel filter: specifically mentioned on the physical workshop manual, India to be replaced @every 48,000 kms for optimum performance. It is located right next to the fuel pump on CBRs:

                  2) Engine Lubrication System general Information:

                  3) Oil Strainer: This is something which was interesting. The manual supplied with the Honda CBR 250R has no mention of this strainer whereas the workshop manual has specifically talked about this item which needs to be cleaned periodically. But nothing sort of specific interval is mentioned over here. I am just guessing for those bike which have crossed over 25k kms, perhaps following the cleaning procedure mentioned below will ensure better longevity of the engine. Senior riders can verify the same:

                  4) Cylinder Head & valves and clearances information:

                  5) Camshaft inspection, especially for bikes which have crossed 80k kms:

                  6) Valve Clearance information:

                  7) Chain Inspection and lubrication: Now this is the bit which intrigued me the most. The excerpts above are from the workshop manual for the international model. So as per the international model the chain lubrication should be done with recommended chain spray. Whereas on the indian workshop manual (I have the genuine physical copy), it has been mentioned that the chain can be lubed with SAE W 80 or 90 grade oil which translates to picking up any of the El Cheapo gear oil available locally at any petrol bunk thus, significantly reducing the cost of maintaining your CBR's chain. To put this into perspective, Motul chain spray is around 480 to 500 bucks whereas a SAE W 80/90 grade oil is just 100 bucks for 450 - 500 ml bottle which will last you atleast 15 - 20,000 kms based on how you use it.

                  a) The first pic below is from the international workshop manual:

                  b) The second pic below is an excerpt from the indian workshop manual, note the highlighted mark indicating use of gear oil in SAE W 80 or 90 rate:

                  8) Front wheel and general tyre pressure information on the workshop manual for Honda CBR 250R:

                  9) Recommended fork oil/fluid to be filled in the front forks:

Hope this benefits the ownership thread

                  Cheers,

Shv18 - Thanks for sharing the details bro. Would surely be helpful to understand and maintain the bike.

I have been using Motul cleaner and lubing my chain too with Motul every 400 kms.

Lot of ASC here in India do not educate the customer about the proper schedule and methods to maintain your ride so its in our interest to learn, share and be aware of the best ways to keep our ride in the best shape.

                    Very useful info. Thanks again.

                      Hi,
Am a newbie to xbhp forum.
Am contemplating on booking cbr 250r or duke 200/390. I have posted my query at what bike section. Since this is a ownership thread of cbr 250r, I would like to know the real world mileage of cbr 250r, both in city riding conditions and the highways. Also I would like to know about heating issues if any when ridden in bumper to bumper traffic. Am from Bangalore, currently located in Hubli for another 6-8 months.

                      TIA

Standard FE of CBR 250R is 30kmpl approximately. Depending on riding style this varies. I got a best mileage of 34kmpl so far during my city ride with good handling. For heating issue will say keep a blind trust as this bike equipped with a Radiator and moreover its a Honda.

For city riding sometimes you may feel the bike weight in low gears, but overall its a VFM, Trust worthy and Comfortable ride to have.

What is the service interval (Kms and time period) for indian CBR250? And how much a paid service cost?

Iam getting a constant 30-32 Kmpl with mix of Seriously rush City traffic to Open smooth Highway. You will never get wrong with the milege in this bike.
Wait till the new 250R comes up, then you can buy. If you cant wait, I recomend you to take the Duke.

Does that include labor and service charges? That seems relatively cheaper to maintain :P Because i pay the same amount for paid service of my current fz v1. Including semi synth oil, filters service charges, chain lube etc. and i have to get it serviced every 3000kms/70 days

i am still a student so maintenance costs are important for me.

Cost will be more than these as 2 bottles of Engine oil costs 1200 or so. If you have bought 1 bottle and used it with your last remaining one then the cost might be this.
