another one.. i checked with my svc too and they said no more option for duplicate key but get it done with the car guys and they will do it...
I bought a key blank from the Service Centre for around rs 225. Then got it machined by a local key maker using the original as template.

      Hello all,

I got my CBR250R tricolor 2 weeks before and I did 300km on the ODO and I am loving it! Yesterday after riding 22km I came and parked my vehicle and then after 2hrs I started the ignition to ON position (I didnt start the engine) and only switched on the headlight in low bean for about 30-40mins (with the engine kill switch in RUN position), after that the display in ODO (the background blue color) started to get dim, also the headlight beam started to get very low and then I tried staring the bike with normal staring procedure (ie holding the clutch and pressing the start button) it just wouldn't start! It would give me some weird sound like some sparkling sound. I had read the manual so I thought the engine might be flooded and I did the procedure as mentioned in the manual (ie opening the throttle fully and pressing the start button for 5secs) and after that when I try starting the bike it just wont start and it produces that sound when I hit the start button and also the PGM-FI light would glow and go away every time I try to start the bike and also the horn sound became less! So i thought it might be some battery problem, then later after an hour I came put on my key turned the ignition switch to ON position and tried starting the bike and boom it started! I started giving a little throttle and I maintained it for sometime and then I took it out for a spin and it worked fine.

I have no idea why it happened and my next service is due on 9th September.

Could any of you people shed some light on why this happened and did any of you people encountered this kind of problem?

Any little information regarding this problem would be very grateful.

        Hi warlord,

The issue you faced is due to the battery discharge from running the headlight for 30-40 minutes without starting the engine.

It is possible for battery to regain some of its charge when left idle. That's why it started after some time.

Do not worry about this too much as there is no serious damage done. Just make sure that batter is not discharged to such level again.

        Enjoy the ride..

            1. Is there any way to prevent a broken ankle next tym i fall. if its abt the frame sliders... then will it actually be long enough to protect my ankles /atleast any part of MY body ( i dnt want to wear boots to my college :'( )

            2. what do u guys think abt small ( but, unsual ) mods ..like duke's / ninja's alloys on cbr ?

            3. is ther any way to get an upside down forks for cbr in our country ..for the sake of cbr 600's on our roads... again will hav to depend the dukes ri8 :/

First thing first get well soon bro and drive carefully actually you would from now on since you had experience .

Coming to your questions the frame sliders are designed to protect body of the vehicle especially fairing I don't think they well help in protecting the rider.
The only way I see to protect yourself is to let the vehicle take the fall bike is always repairable human body is also but not in all cases.

Coming to Alloy mods is something very serious because I know for sure duke's alloy breaks very easily just google this "duke390 wheel cracking" you will see tons of pics and articles. On other hand Ninja alloys might work but I wont recommend them as the alloys are not designed specifically for cbr and it might give troubles in Highspeed and ABS is caliberated with that specific size of tyre and rim so it might not respond well. You can go with something designed specifically for cbr.

Why do need Upside down forks ? And pls stop taking reference from duke as it very light bike weighs only 130Kgs and CBR weighs around 160-170Kgs.

& thanks for the info on alloys bro. i never knew!.The reason why i went for ninja's & duke's wheels is basically because i could'nt find any alloys for CBR except for the one its having already . BTW i have a standard CBR so no worries about the ABS part .. But,Yeah! maybe i should try googling about the speed high speed problems hmm...

& this image below made me think about the inverted forks . Well just because it looks soo sporty especially low ride hight ( even though i am not sure about the consequences )Click image for larger version

                • Re: Honda CBR 250R

                  Hello All ,
I had joined xbhp in 2010 , one of the first few I guess , it was very small community back then (Compared to now). I have seen it grow , and have been a silent spectator all these years. This will be my first post . Recently I purchased CBR250R -ABS version (I guess I am one of the last few to have purchased this , considering the new version will be out by year end, or early next year. )

                  Purchase Experience:-
Like I had read everywhere that Honda sales is very bad , got a first hand experience at it. While taking the delivery( which after a lot of fuss) I noticed the radiator fins were damaged , I got it replaced then and there. Then after few days I noticed the abs on instrument console was not there. After complaining they told me the instrument console
is of non ABS (what the hell ! ) . Got it replaced , frustarted I sent a mail to HMSI India regarding all the problems I faced.

Next day got a call from Service centre asking for apologies and told me they will replace the bike altogether (I didnt want to as it wasnt that big a deal, but bad experience ? yes definitely). Just because of the sales alone I regretted my decision of cancelling the KTM RC390 (duke 390 booking converison to RC390 )booking and going for CBR250R.

                  Ride Experience so far :-
I had initially thought of going with duke 390 , with all the 44 horses at your disposal it was drool worthy. My elder brother got his first. I got a chance to rtake it to office for 2 weeks , since he was out of town. After first 2 days of initial euphoria I started realising its short comings( total my personal experience). Was comfortable with ergo at all. Hard clutch gave me muscle cramps in traffic, windblast at high speeds .This is when I started having second thoughts , so thought of waiting it out for RC390.
Meanwhile , when the wait started to get prolonged , I thought of going with whatever best is available , but not D390. Test drove the Ninja 300 , absolutely loved it, but for budget constraint didnt go for it.(may be some day for sure ). Then next best was the CBR250R, potent tourer , which is what I was mainly looking for.
After all the initial horrible sales experience , it all went to dust when i drove this beautiful little machine. Absolutely refined , no vibes and the exhaust note just grows on you (not sure how many of you here will agree ).

Will not bore you any more with my talks anymore , let the pic do the talking.

Second pic was taken on my way to Hubli from Bangalore. While coming back I did non stop drive from Hubli to Nelamangala in 4.5 hours. Just didnt feel like stopping. Engine is more than capable of cruising at high speeds. Hopefully it will be long fruitful relationship from here on.

                  Keep riding!!

I haven't seen those kind of sliders all the ones I have seen are smaller ones but the one you have shown might be helpful.
And shock may look good but somehow i like the current set up they are buttery smooth..

                    HI,
Congrats and welcome to the club and one thing I heard that its better to give 10-15 minutes brake after 2 hrs of ride that's what usually I do I'm not an expert but that's what I heard.
                    Ride safe and have fun.

BTW, anyone else here feel the vibes creeping in at 2nd gear above 5500 rpm mark.? No problem in higher gears though.

I experience the above problem when the bike has been standing in heavy rains. In my case its due to water entering the kill switch. To start I have to toggle the engine kill switch to a mm or two before it stops the fuel pump starts or I have to press down hard till the light comes on and goes off after 2 secs. Nothing a few squirts of wd-40 cant solve.

                          Hi all,

Has anyone added a rear tyre hugger to the cbr250r ? I am referring to something like this :

It would be useful if anyone can let me know which other bike's tyre hugger would be a direct fit. Also, would there be any cons of adding this ?

Any help would be much appreciated !

                          Cheers !
