Re: Honda CBR 250R
Chennai guys will be helpful in this case..Originally posted by whencut86 View PostI have been following the CBR250R ownership thread and your posts regularly. Planning to buy a CBR250R for daily commute to office of 50 kms one way and also few tours in mind. Please help me in few doubts I have.
1. Is it a good idea to buy a CBR250R now or wait for CBR300R?
my mech told me 6 months back.. these guys were breifed about cbr 300 however no news.. its still in dark..
even the 500 was suppose to come in 2014.. if you need a bike now buy it.. if you have a bike already then wait out...
2. Being from Chennai, which dealers are good? Didar, Kun, JSP, Manasarovar? Which dealer has better service facilities of these?
very difficult to figure out.. i got galfer brake pads for 1900 bucks and still in my wardrobe unused packed as they are probably for US spec CBR that use nissin pot..Originally posted by Mail2vasant View PostI am planning to get brake pads for my Cbr std. if you buy it take it from a known seller who is sure that it will work with bybre unit. the difference is a small hump by .5 cm rest identical.."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I read argee's posts from team-bhp and few more posts about ASC in Chennai. Seems Didar Honda T.Nagar and JSP Honda Ambattur are good. Called up Didar Honda T.Nagar and they say they have a 2 month waiting period for CBR250R. Want it ASAP actually since I switch to a new company in 3 weeks time and I need to travel 50 kms one way daily. Will check up with JSP Honda this Saturday.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View PostChennai guys will be helpful in this case..

Re: SAD Story..
Here is the picture of my Air Filter front (which side it sucks the air) and rear, Is it usable or need to replace ?Originally posted by Avenger88 View Post
Two things:
1. Faulty Kill Switch wiring, so inspect that, or
2. Clogged air filter which should be replaced.
After cleaning with soft brush some dirt come out.. though.

Thanks to theironhorse99 replying my queries about leakage tyre at post number #14659
Here is a video which demonstrate the Air leakage as caused by the tiny nail and there 2 out of 3 cuts (one & half inch in size) which also causing the Air Leakage after a nice Air fill up. Below video only 1 cut and the tiny nail visible. There is a whistle sound which will give the idea after Water Spray caused by that cut.
Now when the tyre needed to feel up AIR after week or so (if it standby) , it never goes complete flat (dropped at 10 PSI) or un-drivable, only bike got heavy wobbling and try to go left or right with heavy steering.
If it goes complete flat, it is easier for me to decide it's fate, but now it is very difficult.....as well like to know is it possible shut down those cut leakage ?Last edited by Neel08; 07-25-2014, 05:40 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I suppose Michelin Pilot Sport Radials would be good enough. Someone just did a Ladakh trip using those. I'm also planning to change my stock tyres to Michelins.Originally posted by MAVERICK_m21 View PostWhich are the best tyres for Ladakh ride need to source it in 15 days? thank you

HI,
I would say wait for some time as many models even from KTM,Yamaha etc are about to be launched.
Also I carefully saw online what's the difference between 300R and 250R the entire body is same even the center console is same only difference visually is front fairing with dual headlights. Power wise there's around 3-4 hp difference and even in torque its around 4-5 which is good in a way.
My complaint about 300 is it looks almost same as 250 when it launched in India almost 4 years ago an upgraded digital console atleat would have been better.
On the other hand I have 2011 model still the engine is solid and still starts with just one press of button.
KTM is kind of unriliable bike many people have issue with coolant leaks etc also Chennai service of KTM is terrible from what I heard.
Yamaha R25 looks really tasty but might get priced above 2.5 lakhs since it is two cylinder engine and it revs upto 13000 rpm...
If you still want to go for CBR it will be a good choice but it won't be up to date as other bikes are.
Coming to service I go to Didar in Egmore haerad their T.Nagar also good.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
KTM RC series is sports and super sports bikes. Suspension is hard and suited for tracks only. They have a 9.5L tank and not suited for touring. Can't tour Leh with such a suspension and 9.5L tank. Yamaha 250 is going to come in first via CKD route and will be priced close to 3L on-road. It will become cheaper once Chennai Yamaha plant is functional in a year or two. So KTM and Yamaha are ruled out. Also, during city rides need to take wife as pillion. KTM RC and Yamaha R250R pillions seats won't be very comfortable. Still drool over KTM RC series but practicality is what matters. Wanted to buy CBR from day one. Saved money for it but folks at home knew my plans and made my buy a Honda Brio. Money for CBR was put as first-up payment for Brio. Now because of job switch I have to travel 50 kms one way everyday to work. So my best chance to buy a CBR is now. CBR300R looks like Fireblade series but I guess I will settle for a CBR250R over a bump in few BHPs. CBR250R was and still is a dream bike for me. :-)Originally posted by Dandamudi Mohan Krishna View PostHI,

Re: Honda CBR 250R
neal.. that dust is normal and good that you cleaned it.. i have changed my filters at 6k intervals and 12k as well i.e. 6k run and change.. then tried 12k interval.Originally posted by Neel08 View PostHere is the picture of my Air Filter front (which side it sucks the air) and rear, Is it usable or need to replace ?

Here is a video which demons..... is it possible shut down those cut leakage ?
did not find any diffrence at all and honda specified 12k interval is just apt for the bike. he filter costs 300 bucks .hence nothing expensive. if you ride in extreme dusty conditions
change it at every service : 6k km else stick to 12,000 km ... it will work just fine...
now for a the Tyre.. if you go the initial pages of this whole section some 2 years back.. i was even running with 27 puncutures in my conti's and they were still running.
eventually i changed them due to the hassle of getting them fixed every now and then.. so fixing a cpl of punctures does not call for a 4k bill. use tyre cement and tubeless repair kit
and that will work... if the tyres are done 15k + replace them.. else atleast run them for 10k or more...

my friend replaced his soft compound metletzer's on duke 390 with mrf .. brand new .. and they came out with flying colours too.. no air drop whatsoever..
and trust me.. when i say we abused them... where other bikers were struggling to move.. we were rubbing them over gravel, slush and rocks at speed 70 and above.
we were riding maniac at few places and i had some serious cornering fun...
dunlops have a reputation of not good grip in wet... and i always felt the same.. this whole trip changed my thought process.. Dunlops once warmed up well after 30-40km of ride.
were sticking like gum on road.. and i was cornering hard on even wet roads and they were just there.. no drift... no rear end going out..
never had a wheel lock moment..
similarly the mrf's did well.. ideally anything besides conti's will do..."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

My both tyre done 18K + Kms done & they are 3 years old. As I googled and found RG's Q & A part at the TeamBhp forum, too bad I not able to contact as he left this forum.
I'm looking for Hard Compound Tyre - which translate to less puncture prone nature. My usage is In & Around City with Bad Roads and crawling traffic. So as of now I found two tyres are recommended here
1. Dunlop Tuff Grip <- Doubt of availability in my region
2. MRF ZapperQ
They are Hard Compound Or not ? Are they available in correct Size (140/70 R17 & 110/70 R17) ?
What kind of facility needed to change the CBR tyre ?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I use MRF tubeless front and Michelin Rear... the grip and feel is epic...Originally posted by MAVERICK_m21 View PostMichelin ruled because of pricing as I would have to again change tyres when I come back, MRF front & Conti rear or MRF both or Conti both?
You can use MRF both or Dunlop both maybe.
ContiGos are dry track tyres almost... gravel and wet feel like sleet at higher speeds... but the loss of traction in Conti's also have given me immense pleasure - Fishtailing rear while heavy upshifting, the way I could drag the rear sometimes almost felt like a lightweight naked, burn outs were a breeze, but yeah... very non-confidence inspiring in the wet...

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Tough luck. Went to multiple dealers in Chennai today. Got reply that 3-4 months waiting period for ABS model. Didar Honda guy told me that in 3 months it will have new graphics and spilt head lamps and thats why the waiting period. Asked him if it's the CBR300R but he said its for 250 only. Don't know how to get one at earliest. Thinking of calling up dealers in Kanchipuram and finding out if they have an ABS model available.
