  • Re: Honda CBR 250R

    Guys, completed 3k yesterday.
So far the ride has been doing good, except for a few things ,

    1. Gear slippage, at times when i am shifting from 1st gear to 2nd, just a seconds gap after shifting it falls back to neutral , and it can get embarrassing as i would be just starting to give throttle and on falling to neutral it just revs up making a commotion..:-P , also after extended riding the gear shifts seems a bit tough/rough. The oil level is fine and the quality is fine too, still a golden brownish color.
    Any inputs on this ?

2.This is a strange issue, i have not been able to pin point it to anything. When i am accelerating in a few gears, i get this tink tink tink kinda sound..., the sound is very much evident when it is there, and is there only at acceleration at certain gears, like 1st , 2nd and 4th.
I was thinking that maybe the chain is rubbing against the swing-arm, but on inspection couldn't find any scratch marks or anything, need to do a detailed check..
Has anyone else had a similar experience ?

Also, i have this feeling that the bike is a bit sluggish with a pillion on..!! Not a heavy pillion for that matter...but somehow i wasn't expecting that.

    Cheers

Do you see through it? Better put, do you crouch a lot? If no, then simply buy a Carbon Fiber finish sheet (black/transparent types as per your liking) and paste it. It'd look lovely.
        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Thank you!. Is it only the rear tyre?. I see that it is Pilot sporty. However, their website link has no CBR size for this model.

Can some CBR owners confirm if there's any difference felt on the newer lot with respect to power?

          Thanks

I have Feb 2013, but old color. There was some hearsay that, even late 2012 models also had some improvement, but nothing conclusive.
At the most my guess is that, there may be an ECU map change. Only a dyno test on the same dyno under same test conditions may reveal any change as this change is small.
Btw, I couldn't find any changes, when I rode 2011 model compared to mine. Subjective smoothness/vibes depend upon joint/bolt gaps/tightness. I don't know about latest CBRs.
Owners manual has no BHP mentioned. The BHP figure may be a website thingy.

            Hi all,

If some one could help me out with this -

I got my CBR250R last July (2013 version) and have been observing a crackling sound from the radiator (not sure, some where around the radiator). When showed it to the ASC, they responded saying this is "Normal". The sound doesn't come always but at times. Please let me know if someone has faced this and also if this is normal.

            Thanks in Advance!!!
            Lykenz.......
I think the radiator gets warm and when it cools down it makes that " tik tik" sound, its like the cooling down of engines or the muffler after a long ride. It's normal. But that said do keep an eye on the rubber mouints and the hose connectors, being paranoid about your bike is not harmful is it?

            Regards

            Manan.

After i turn on the engine kill switch i hear the fuel pump sound, but still the bike wont start and i again have to turn the switch off and on again or sometimes just have to press it harder. Also the console blue light flickers when the parking lights are on . Both these things happend randomly.
Also my right tail indicator is not wrking and the flickering frequency for right side indicator is higher.

Could it be an idication that the electricals might go kaput later on or just that the switch and console lights are independently malfunctioning.

I might go on a trip of around 3k kms in about a month . Dont want the bike coming up with severe issues then like the ingnition not working.
              1) There might be some loose contact beneath the ignition switch. Take it to SVC.. they will clean it with a fluid.
              2) The console light flickering.. thats because of faulty led. You can get that replaced under warranty.
              3) The right side tail indicator not working results in faster blinking of the front right indicator. Replace the rear right indicator.

change fork oil to a thicker grade... that should make it little firm... but assuming indian roads they tuned the suspension..

I called up Michelin (Corporate office!) and a leading Michelin dealer... both claim to have only 100/80 front and 140/70 rear. The model is Pilot Sporty. Can you please share your Chennai friends' feedback on what model and tyre store location/name? thanks

Does anybody have a list of spare parts prices for the CBR250R? Namely the panels, i.e. the painted portions.

Couldn't find a mention on this thread. Or maybe my search skills are very rusty.

That's why I said you can get one with a CF texture in translucent shade. It won't be completely transparent but you'd get the same texture in whitish glass color.
