I have to ride in heavy traffic for most of my daily commute. My usual habit is to shift to second once bike is motion which results in sometimes riding at 2k rpm in 2nd gear.Is this lugging the engine? What is the safe rpm till which the fisrt gear can be used for a daily bumper to bumper traffic ride as it difficult to ascertain whether its straining the engine because of the smooth nature of engine?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Researched this on a number of international forums as well asaargee's & harsimranjitsidhu661's calculations found that revving till 4K rpm in 1st gear is actually what is recommended by most 250R riders. Tried it today on my ride to office and felt like the engine really starts building up post 3K rpm in 1st gear and subsequent up-shifts are also smooth without any trace of hesitation.Originally posted by New guy View PostI have to ride in heavy traffic for most of my daily commute. I also found that I could stay in 2nd as long as the speed was in range of +/- 3 kph of 20 kph. anything lower than that & I have to down-shift to 1st.

In theory, you can ride safely till the red band in first gear!Originally posted by New guy View PostI have to ride in heavy traffic for most of my daily commute. . But as you notice it will appear bit rough after 4.5K in first gear. Try to practice to shift at higher RPMs (4K+ in case of 1st if you think this is rough). Don't immediately shift to 2nd once start moving as you can ride at 10-15kmph without much throttle input in 1st gear. Of course, things approach faster in CBR. Don't brake late as there will be some who will follow you blindly with speed and they won't able to make a stop quickerrr like your CBeRrrr!.

Also please see my signature. I don't reach there abruptly though. If you follow that as mentioned above be careful while braking. Braking very late to enjoy CBR ABS tech, last weeks GP race lingering etc will result in rear damage!. Shifting at 6K RPM is cool, but seems to consume bit more fuel in city. It also is a very good vibe indicator to see if any part is getting loose over time. Again like to take the CBR to higher altitudes w.r.t RPM, it is more alive after 4.5K till 8K where all 25 horses are there for the chariot!. When I ride CBR at lower RPM, I don't see the value. But then it could be just me. I know, it is bit buzzy there, giving therapy massage

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello Guys,
I am Sudipto from kolkata. I recently bought a CBR250R ABS Tri-color 2013 model. Yesterday I went for my first free service at Dugar Honda. The service adviser in the service center insisted me not to change the oil filter. But I asked him to change both the oil and filter as it's written as mandatory in the manual. In the evening when I went to take the bike I found that only oil was changed, not oil filter. I started arguing. Then the service manager came and told me that oil filter for CBR250R is not in stock. Hence they didn't change that.
My question is if they do not have the oil filter in stock, they should tell me beforehand. What is the point in changing the oil without oil filter at the first service? I could have gone to other service center for that matter. Upon saying this the manager told me to call today if the stock comes. When I called today, the manager didn't even bother to talk to me and the lady who received the call started misbehaving.
I have already sent a e-mail to [email protected] stating my issue. Can you guys please help if I need to do anything further?
One more question...what is the severity of not changing the oil filter at first service? If I change it may be at 3K-3.5K kms, will it harm the engine significantly? Please assist guys.

Steel braided brake hoses:
Dear all
Is there a standard (as opposed to local fabricators) supplier of steel braided brake hoses for both front and rear brakes? Willing to ship across India?
What are the prices ? Are the duke's hoses a direct fit ?
Thank youLast edited by rapperswil; 10-04-2013, 05:21 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Never go to dugar for servicing. They used to have good parts stock, you can buy the part needed get it fitted from outside other than that never visit them. They don't know how to service the bike the showroom owner knows how to sell the bike only. Theres only one cbr trained mech and he also remains too much overloaded with work so you be be pretty much sure some untrained mech serviced your bike. Though first service doesn't need much training they just change the oil and wash the bike. And in our region that is kolkata or eastern region you will get nothing out of mailing honda they don't even care to reply you they just forward your mail to svc.HISTORY IS NOT ABOUT WHO IS RIGHT BUT ABOUT WHO WRITES IT.......

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks. Today I was shifting at 5k rpm (which comes to 4K at the actual time of shift) right from the 1st gear. Shifts were smooth and not many shifts were required to move through the crawling traffic. Was able to focus more on manoeuvring the bike.Originally posted by kpvision View PostIn theory, you can ride safely till the red band in first gear!

First, welcome to the club. Do post your experiences here.Originally posted by csudipto View Postsuggest me a good service center
Honda 2 wheelers site is your best source. Do call the SVC before going there to confirm if they service CBRs, and if they do, confirm availability of the parts you are going to replace. Build rapport with the mechanic that services your bike and you'll marvel at how easy and enjoyable the exercise becomes.
Best to get it done asap. Stick to the service schedule. HowStuffWorks.Originally posted by csudipto View PostAnd what is the severity of not changing the oil filter at first service? can I change it after 3K-3.5K kms?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hey guys, had bought a new camera mount for getting on broad videos.
Well, it's not meant for clip on bars..but it can be made done with. I wanted to post the videos too, but as luck would have it, my P&S camera is fried for good and I had a old one lying around and as fate should have it , the video recording feature doesn't work on it.
So for the time being I am posting the photos of the mount for you guys to have a look.

Pic 1- The Fitting is done using velcro straps ,they hold pretty good.Road testing is still pending.

Pic 2-The rubber supports hold them tight and reducing lateral movement, will mask quite a bit of vibration too.

Pic 3-With the camera mounted on

Pic 4-The camera seems to be facing a bit upward. Raising the height of the mount will solve the issue, need to fabricate a support for it.

Pic 6-How it would look from the other side.
Cheers

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi guys
Finally found a red Ceeber ABS with MRFs. Done the payment today and taking delivery on 16th
I have gone through the PDI links. The SA assured that bike will be delivered in top condition. Waiting to lay hands on her now.
. And yes, new ones come with dual horns
He was saying there is a change in registration method. Any one aware of how it works? He had no info yet on the same.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I saw HJC and Galfer steel braided lines available for CBR on ebay. They ship it to India as well. The cost will be almostg like around 5k for both front and rear brakes. Also heard P220 brakeines are direct fit. Don't know about Duke's brakelines.Originally posted by rapperswil View PostSteel braided brake hoses:
