But actually there's slippage (resulting in transmission losses) and this produces noise. Since gears are surface hardened, they wear out very slowly. So transmission 'run-in' is quiet long. Feel the difference between the gearbox of a three year old properly maintained bike and one just out of the showroom and you'll realize that the new one a bit clunkier than the old.

Now, above is my two cents; I don't want to open a Pandora's box regarding mechanical engineering.

That apart, its one of the friendliest motorcycles I've ridden. I 've found that whenever I ride a new bike it takes at least a day or two to ride it confidently, but it took just a 20 kms ride for me to be quite at home on the CBR. And that speaks volumes about the kind of effort that went into designing the ergonomics of this motorcycle.

Felt vibes on the tank where my thighs rest but I'm hoping that would be taken care of when I take it for the Second Free service tomorrow.

Thanks to all the innovative & helpful contributors to this thread, I've acquainted myself with most of the Do's & Dont's with aargee's FAQ deserving a special mention.

Done second free service from Preetam Honda, Parsi panchayat rd, Andheri.Overall experience was OK but at the time of delivery they lived up to the Honda Service standards we have all learnt to be wary of.Reading about the experiences on this thread, I double checked everything about the service schedule and washing process.I checked the bill too and didn't find Engine oil mentioned. Upon asking was told that oil was replaced but not added to bill as an oversight. I asked to confirm if the oil was changed or not and a technician showed me the oil level which was red in the window. I insisted and again remarked that even old oil, if not consumed/leaked, would show in window, upon which he said old would be black whereas this was red.To be sure he took the bike again inside the workshop and I was informed that oil was indeed not replaced.I was later shown the fresh oil in window which was orange in colour.Once again, being forewarned (courtesy this forum) about common errors in servicing saved me precious time and money I would have lost had I continued riding with the old oil for another 5000+ kms till the next service.Even though the staff was very gracious and apologetic about the whole incident, what would happen to a less informed, short on time customer?

I am a fan of Michelins too...infact the last 2 sets of new tyres were Michelins! Yes, the tyres (Mich Pilot Sporty) are available at the dealers in 100/80x17 front and 140/70x17 rear sizes. I didn't enquire the price though....may be I should have.

Well, me too, I used M45's before on the senior. Decent one. Btw, are you going for 100/80x17 when the stock is 110/70x17?. Do they have stock size? Thanks.

Have taken few pics of the tyre @ the dealer but my broadband connection is having some issues so cannot upload it for time being.

                        I bought a used 2011 standard CBR250. I am the third owner.
I understand that bikes manufactured in this year suffer from an issue with the front brake master cylinder assembly. HMSI's website says they will replace it regardless of warranty.
The person who sold me the bike is clueless on this issue. He bought it from an agent and I cannot trace the first buyer.

Unlike Yamaha, which has a database to track warranties and service histories of all bikes serviced with ASCs, Honda has no such nation-wide system. I am being asked to contact the showroom that sold and services the bike.

Any clues, how I can get this sorted out?

P.S: I entered the VIN number (same as chasis #) of the bike on HMSI's site. It gives the previous owner's details. The subsequent 'submit' ( donno what it is supposed to do), gives me a 404 (page not found).

if you go to Honda ASC they will have a Database of bikes for which the recall was made and also for which the cylinder kit was replaced.. check with them.
if they dont listen... email CC and also talk to the manager. recalls are valid for lifetime if the part has not been changed. Honda will validate the request
and should process it under Fair Trade practise.

                            Hi.

From few weeks I am hearing some tik tick sound from the engine. This noise usually comes when I am in 4, 5 or 6 gear and taking race from lower rpm to higher.. and mostly at the speed range between 40 to 65. Last week I went to asc for service and told about this problem then the mechanic said this is coming from the shim and he replaced all the 4 shim. I left my bike for 2 days at asc and when i took delivery and went for the ride then again I noticed they sound is still there. ... This sound is more visible whend I ride with pillon and climbing flyover and taking race.

Can you please tell me where is the problem? After service and shim replacement ride quality is improved but that sound didn't disappeared.

Please suggest. . I took my bike to ganpati Honda gurgaon.
                            Thanks

Hey guyz, anyone tried the other (not Contis) tyres available in the market? can someone do a comparison of PSD vs Mich Pilot Sporty vs Metz (Duke390) vs soft MRF Zappers (Duke200)? I was crying a lot bcos of my Contis...but over time (7000kms now) I have gotten accustomed to its handling. Either way, I m trying to revive my search for new tyres (in Chennai)...any help would be appreciated.
