Surely, would put it up here. My chain has done only 13500 kms. I used Motul cleaner and lube at every 500 - 800kms but thanx to the stupid asc's, they use some oil that too without cleaning the chain. Though I got n alternative on ebay for chain but not sure if can get the sprockets separately. The chain which I saw on ebay costed almost Rs. 4000 as per the current currency exchange.
for a bike of under 2L and making mere 25hp... i would suggest go for the cheapest option unless its for safety purpose..
my best bet will be personally stock chainset with a custom sproket in front..

4k for a chain makes no sense.. it would be more sensible to get the stock chain and spend more on sprockets.. atleast you can play with performance of the vehicle..

you can go for better X ring chains instead of O rings however those chains are on litre class bikes and have a transmission loss of 10 % which is higher than O ring chains..
it wont make you any faster..

rather for a small 250 single cylinder it will be overkill and making you go slow alongside...

i am done with 16k on my chainset and it will run max for another 1k.. and i am going with stock chainset but with a 15T front and keep the stock as backup..
also changing the spark plug to brisk racing plug.. which is basically a multi point plug.. lets see the gains..

as far i can think off you can go with the p220 chain as the pitch is same however for the sprockets you would have to hunt..

stock has 14T front and guess 38/40 rear..

best bet in india .. get the same cbr chain and rear sprocket.. swap the front with either a 13T for accleration else 15T for touring...

      ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

ride it between 4.5k- 5.5k rpm on a highway.. it will be a bore sedate ride but i bet you'd break the 42-43 kmpl barrier too...

Absolutely correct bro, I am not looking forward for a noticable change in performance just by replacing the chain. Its just that I don't want to visit asc too often as I have been doing since I bought this bike to get the chain tightened. Will go for stock chain set if didnot find any thing worth.

Btw I guess the stock sprcket is a 14F/40R set...where from are you getting the 15T sprocket and whats the cost. May be I would be interested.

            here you go ...

            CBR 250R front sprocket

KITACO : Drive for the Front sprocket [530-1818015] both 15T

KITACO : Drive for the Front sprocket [530-1818013] 13T .. regarding chain.. you can go for DID O ring chain.. has far lesser drag than stock ones.. but the whole point boils down to the price.

is it worth the outcome ??

less drag means more power to rear wheel but that might like 5% say 1 hp.. we wont even notice that to be true. and no idea of the life of those chains..

somwhere quoted about custom made 15T in india itself for 1500 bucks.. a few of us did show intrest but no updates on that..

i will be the first one to jump for a 15T to solve the too short 1st gear.. atleast i feel that..

considering the imported ones.. all of em are around 20 $ add another 10 $ for shipping..

the whole chainset from SVC is like 1600-1700..

            adding another 30 $ 30 x 65 ( dollar is high ) another 2k...

total of 4 k .. still better than just getting a chain of 4k...

and will last you another 15k.. however if you are happy with the current gearing then blindly go for OEM...

Stock sprocket is 14/38,chain is .520 pitch,108 links, also the sprockerts are not interchangeble with any other bike.

The 1000RR uses .525 chain, so.520 for 250 is actually overkill but then it is the way it is or import the chain & sprocket set, apart from cost & shipping it will be 30% more for customs, so if you are not seeking any performance gains or changes of any kind in the gearing donot bother to go that way insted learn how to tighten the chain or if you are tired of going to ASC for this job then you can get it done @ your local mechanic also, it is not rocket science, just maintaing the correct slack of 30 mm at the center of the downside of the chain & alligning the chain adjusters marking are the only things to consider. If you run out of O ring chain spray for time being the 90 no. gear oil will also do the job.Go through the owner`s booklet for more info.

Local mech will clean, tighten & lube it for mere 100/- & if you provide him the lube spray it will be 50/- max. They have been doing the chain tightening since eons, no big deal.

It really is a pain in the ass but then spending about 4k for a paddock stand for lubing is more painful.

I was using LS2 diamod which I bought during my ZMA days. Recently bought a Sparx Pow helmet to match with my tri-color CBR. Would suggest to prefer for full face helmet rather than modular.

the best thing about the bike so far is it has just clocked 1950 kms xD

                          check few screenshots...

the bike's giving me a FE of 27 KMPL in city and around 33-35 on highway...
so far no expenses on any part of the bike which makes it so much VFM

only cons about the bike is its exhaust shield which is prone to scratches..

The bike still manages to turn heads in traffic <3

Currently using Studds Jade - a very basic full face helmet. Thinking about Studds scorpion. Already discussed on Helmet thread, just posted here to get a matching helmet for CBR. Problem with DOT and ECE (though I don't know about it) certification is our cops. They only knows ISI so there is a risk factor.

Anyone using some decent model with ISI marked full face helmet like Vega or so.

Vega and studds have ISI markings right..vega has introduced a new model in the market, don't remember its name orrectly, its in the sub 2k price range. Studds rhino and Scorpion are good safe bet too..

But mate, how often does a police person stop you when you have helmet on and check for the ISI mark ?

What is more important? Cops or head?

BTW, you do have decent helmets from Steelbird and Studds too. I hate Vega because they make flimsy helmets.
Search for Studds Scorpion Decor or Steelbird SB 8 series helmets.
                                Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
