Hi while riding back from Goa in rain @ speeds between 80-100 Km/hr the FI light lit up, I took the bike road side waited for 5 seconds & started it went away, what can be the reasons for same, should I take it to SVC? Can the fuel pump be the reason as I rode for 40 kms after the last fuel line started to blink.
    Thank you

the bike actually wanted you to stop and enjoy the rain... kiddin...

i can be the fuel injector else the fuel pump itself. can be fuel pump primarily.. you should avoid riding when the blinkers starts.. nothing more than 20-25 km's..
stil get it checked at the SVC..

did the bike jerk or anything ?? might be some loose connection with the engine kill switch would have triggered the on-off cycle and the light lit up
however if it was a constant light for over 4-5 seconds you should get it checked once before you fry up anything..

so finally my lady is gone for long 9 days before i see her again....
today morning washed her.. polished her to the extent where i could see my skin on the shining tank.. gave her shoes some shiny black rubber..
all wrapped and packed and she will be hibernating until she reaches Mandi (HP) and i will key in on 22nd to wake up the demon in her again.... miss you.. these 9 days will be long...

so i did mention a few days back about the mods i did to the front suspension.... to make it stiffer
          here are the details..

          finally doing it now

          details :

stock cbr fork oil is 10W. thin and with time looses the characteristic soon also with indian roads we rubbing the forks probably 100 times then our western counterparts. this should be ideally an year work for us.. or say every 15k kms... i wanted to get Motul 20W fork oil.. heavier .. hence dampens well and no nose diving under hard braking..however got castrol as was easily available..
the OEM specs state 331ml oil for each fork. however to make it stiffer i pushed it to 350ml each fork..

remove forks.. remove old oil.. flush inside with diesel .. let it dry.. then fill 350ml 20w oil and repack..
make sure the heavier/closer winding of springs goes to bottom. you dont need to get it done at SVC as mandate if you have any good mech who have worked on atleast r15 or similar bikes. he can easily do the work in less than 2 hours..

          pics followed...

          work started...

          dismantle

old fork oil.... yuck.. moisture and what not.. its rotten.. dint smell it though

springs taken out and cleaned and left for drying and dripping the residue.

inside flushed cleaned.. left for drying and let the oil residue flow out..

fresh oil poured. this time 350 ml instead of 331

          lady stripped

          castrol..20W

          repack

front disk setup.. cleaned.lubed and pads rubbed..

          enjoy hard cornering now.....

Making the front forks stiffer like this may not be good . What happens is that while the forks doesn't bottom out on the larger breakers and holes , it becomes slow to respond ( does not compress fast enough ) to the smaller bumps and subtle road undulations . So you get jarring at the handle . There are tiny holes in the inner tube that the oil has to pass thru . These holes are sized correctly for the oil used at the factory and heavier oil simply doesn't pass thru quick enough . Also altering the volume of oil by a tiny amount has a large effect since by increasing the oil you are also reducing the volume of air in there . Forks are a hydraulic system designed for a particular ratio of oil:air inside it .
However , you are right that stiffer forks makes cornering more steady and may help if you are an particularly heavy guy .
Are you sure it took 350ml in each leg ? Or total for both ? Gosh , that's more than twice what my Splendor takes ( 150-160 ml ) each leg .
Seeing that the workshop is so nicely equipped , they should have separated the inner tube ( stanchion ) from the fork bottom and then cleaned . Some dirt settles at the bottom of the bottom tube that cannot be cleaned out without separation . This residual dirt shall spoil your new oil quicker and may also block the tiny oil thru holes . Next time have them do it .

Is it me, or the Rear Left indicator keeps braking on regular basis!!!
Its been twice in last 8 months... Pedestrians keep brushing aside while walking past the parked bike N no of times and eventually breaking it.
Thinking of some serious mods to the rear indicators. They are protruding out too much I guess.

Exactly what I had in mind... Just wanted to know, any body tried it? What mods required for it, as they have relatively small base compared to the CBR.
