Most of the engine problems in CBR bcoz of improper Run-In methods(no body is patient enough to keep the rpm below 5K)..Just close your eyes and go for it wit in 2 months spares will be widely available so no issues..

Use Motul or honda pro chain lube . according to users review it won't attract dust...

As on third day of delivery and just hundred Kms on Odo, i was able to cross 147KMPH. If you dont have a great top end whats the point of paying 2L, we all could have settled with pulsars.

At times chain tension can also lead to such problems.

            Thank You..
I noticed the Bike revvs upto 6k in the first gear... Then dives down drastically in the 2nd gear and theres tremendous vibration here when past 5k rpm needing me to shift to 3rd.
3rd 4th 5th 6th smooth upto 7-8k but vibration sets in after that.
Will do a test run this weekend and see if it gets better if not next week il go back to the ASC

Or do 1 thing, go to your nearest dealer, ask him if spares are readily available for the machine. If he says yes, ask for few spares..like assume you had a fall on either left side of bike, or right side...then chances of following things to get damaged are common:

              1) Mirrors (for sure will go kaput on a fall)
              2) clutch lever/ brake lever
              3) Handle might get bent
              4) brake pedal / gear lever
              5) exhaust head shield etc.

If he has 4 or even 3 of the parts above readily off the shelf, then the spares issue has been addressed by Honda.

[RANT] Honda...are thou listening?...... Fix the spares issues!!!!.. [/RANT]

              • Cbr 2012

                Guys,

I just went to the Honda US site,

                2012 CBR250R Overview - Honda Powersports

and earlier I could see the bike along with the price. In Youtube many customers in US already have the bike. But on the US site now, the bike is referred to as 2012 model and the price is not yet decided. I wonder in 2012 if they intend to have a slightly more refined model?

                Cheers

                • Dear Rishi, Welcome to xbhp. I know you have your set of questions and we are there to help you out. But, all most all the questions you have asked in past 5pages have been disscussed here for 500 pages. So i would suggest you to go through the thread or use the search thread and delete the unneccesary posts. This thread is already very long and now heading nowhere. To conversate with a fellow bhpian, you can use private messages unless its useful for all of us.
You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

                  • Hi All,

I am new to xbhp and have been struggling hard to choose a touring machine.

You can check my thread at http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/what-bik...ng-tourer.html and I would say, I am a lot inclined towards the CBR now.

This is an awesome thread guys, with 500+ pages...I am through with 40+ pages now

I have a question here, pointed towards bikers from Bangalore. Has anyone got their bikes from Haiku Honda (near Indira nagar, Old madras road) or City Honda (Kalyan Nagar, near Banaswadi)? I called up them for fixing a test ride and they mentioned there is no waiting period and I can simply take delivery.

Just checking if these guys are reliable dealers

                    Thanks in advance

I got my bike from Haiku Honda, Domlur (yes the one you are talking about).
Dealer wise they are OK. But if possible try city or Sapphire. Haiku got me the bike but that is all they did. They made me run for special number, do not know how to service a CBR and lot more stuff they need to improve on. If possible, take from Sapphire as they are also the best ASC in bangalore.

                      Regards

                      • Engine Issues? Really???

                        Sree,

Sorry for sounding a little ignorant but i dont feel that there are wide spread engine issues. Except a few isolated incidents (like aargee's) i dont recall anyone else facing engine problem.
Normal wear and tear can not be classified as engine problem.

Please do not propagate false information and in case i am incorrect please provide the names of members who are facing engine problems.

I will be visiting my local City Honda this week, will call up Sapphire as well...

One more query, is it mandatory that you can get your bike serviced only from your dealer or can we drive the bike into any Service Centre and they don't mind?

                            • Finally....... to a test ride

                              Hi,
For all "would be" or prospective buyers of CBR 250. I would like to share my experiences of the test ride.

Went early to the showroom, no crowd at all. Asked for a TR as i saw a registered CBR standing, and they said yes... finally.

Started her up, and was happy with the revv and the feel of a bigger engine (bigger because i ride a Activa).

The roads were loaded with traffic, but did not feel difficult to ride, though it was overwhelming as first, riding a big bike for the first time.

Engine Felt rough, but the bike had done about 200 kms only, dont know if they had done a proper break-in.

Brakes: Front brake was good, rear was like non-existent, but worked well i guess, as it was an ABS bike, could stop where needed.

Pickup felt good, with pillion behind, unlike a 100 CC where there is lack of power

Gears were easy to engage, but i found it difficult as i have never ridden a toe-shifter anytime, but felt good, like riding a SBK (my feeling).

Could not go more than 35-40 kmph or 3-4K RPM as lots of traffic in the morning hours.

Yes the sitting position is different and you may get pain in arms or wrists as its different from riding a scooter which i do, but can get used to it.

Engine did not sound like expected though. They said that the TR vehicle gave them 30-35 KMPL.

It's not mandatory to service your bike from where you have bought your bike. You can give it to any Honda Service Center.
Also, now in most of the Bangalore showrooms, CBR is readily available. Only issue is the availability of spare parts (which seems to be improving, but at a slow pace).
