  • CBR250R Reseting.

    Hi All,

I ride CBR250R (Oct-2013) and for the past few days I am facing a weird issue. Last time when I washed the bike I guess lot of water went below the rider seat.
After that whenever I try to park / remove from parking, turning at low speeds, the bike resets (like switch of and switch on).

Any idea, what might have gone wrong. I am thinking if this is because of water getting into some electronics?

    Thanks,
    Ganesh Shanmugalingam

just changed the rubber at both ends of my CBR 250R..Front - Metzeller 120/70/17 and Rear Pirelli - 140/70/17..upgraded the front for better traction at high speed turns..and rear kept as same because i did not want to hamper the performance of the bike..so far so good..please get back here if any one has changed the tyres..had to go through a lot of trouble to get them changed from the dealer..they don't have racing jacks and tyre dealers outside wont do a proper job of fixing everything back together..company people said that they can only provide with Continental only..but i had a real bad experience with Conti GO..there were cracks all through the trades on both the tyres..even after complaining to the dealer as well as the tyre company i got no feedback..that time the tyres were in warranty..so anybody who is going to change the tyres in future, please go for this specification..it will definitely help..

Yesterday replaced the camshaft and rocker arms... both inlet and exhaust cam lobes had worn out.. they also replaced the chain tensioner along with it. And now.. no noise at all... I am so in love with my bike :-)

Both the cams had hairline scratches on it. I think from next service I'll go for semi synthetic oil. Its much more viscous than fully synthetic (throttle).
Hi do you have a rough estimation for the cost involved to replace camshaft, tensioner and the rocker arms or was it done under warranty? I'd like to meet up sometime to see how your bike sounds now. Do let me know if you visit Mlore anytime.
        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

they said since camshaft was replaced even rocker arms and tensioner also have to be replaced. Something about the company directing them to do it that way.
Anyways.. Even after bangalore trip theres no noise. But after a very long run you do here it.

            Hey folks,
My bro just got married to his love, after 7 years of relationship and then he got a gift from his father-in-law, a Honda CBR 250R repsol edition(now that made me jealous )
Now I would like to ask about the run-in, what speed not to cross, and the general maintenance of the bike.

I dont know much about the CBR, thus would like to know

I'm confused between 2013 Sports Red and 2012 Red/Silver. I like Red/silver colour but someone mentioned in this thread that new 2013 CBR has changes like ECU remap, better quality plastics, dual horns etc. Are those upgrades too good that one can compromise on colour?

Also, are there any other changes apart from the ones I had mentioned? I'm going to buy the bike tomorrow or latest by Saturday, kindly help me in this regard.

As much as i like my 2011 Red/Silver, i am a huge sucker for the 2013 colours which are more lively, especially the Tricolor. The 2013 one is at 26hp compared to the old models at 25hp. The throttle feels crisp now with the new/updated ECU.

The BIG question is which showroom is going to sell you a Red/Silver old model ? Even 7 months back I couldn't get one, luckily I got old black one.

You could get the new one and swap out the plastic parts for the old one. Should be a direct fit.

I found one showroom with Red/Silver Model in Hyderabad.

                              Thanks for the info....

The new model is too red and 2012 red/silver model is more strawberry in colour than being pure red... so swapping silver parts may not give a decent outlook which 2012 model has...

I think I'll go for 2012 model only, I'll ask the showroom guys if they can rip up new ECU and install it in 2012 model. Is it a common practice to do such things? I'm also missing out on MRF tyres for the colour, but as it's summer for the next three months and me being a smooth driver, I think it should be fine.

Guys which is coming to India? The new CBR 250 or 300r? & when?
I'm a huge fan of this legendary bike & thought of buying it initially. But, ultimately had to settle for ZMR due to cash constraints.
