Will check with the SVC asap regarding the oil filter.
Well CBR is too my first ride. I get plenty of info and help from xBhp members. Read manual and before going to SVC if you have any doubt clarify that here. BTW which SVC you are going ?

Hi Guys, I have put new chain and sprocket. Now I have covered around 500kms with this new sprocket. I want to clean and maintain the chain for longevity. I heard that Motul C2 Chain clean is good for O-ring chains. Can anyone suggest me about the availability of it. I tried searching online but no help. Or is there any other products available . Please Help !!

So throw away the oil filter whenever you change the engine oil.

Is the Honda Trottle that my SVC uses good enough? Or can I get smoother output from Shell or Motul or something else?
The best real world result I got from an oil when I still the CBR250R was when I was using Motul 7100 10W40. Relatively expensive but well worth it.

The Motul 300V was better than the 7100, but a total waste for normal everyday use. The only time I could feel its benefits was on really long rides, where the gears started performing smoother as the kilometres started to accumulate in multiples of the number 10. It actually became much smoother post a 200km+ ride than when I started the ride. This oil needs high engine temperatures to perform to the optimum. On cold morning starts, before it has had time to warm up, starts the gearshifts tend to be a bit notchy.

I would recommend the Motul 5100, but the recommended rating for the CBR250 is hard to find. This is in my opinion the best all-round oil for a bike. The 7100 strikes a nice balance between the two.

And yes, an oil filter change is recommended every time you change the oil.

Bro, have you used the AX7? Is there a real-world difference between the performance of AX7 and 7100 or 300V?

What's the life of Shell AX7 20W40 when used in a CBR250? I have covered close to 2000 kms/2 months with the AX7 and I feel like the oil is nearing the end of it's life - on hot days, the engine feels exceptionally rough and unrefined and staggers in stop-go traffic, and on longer rides, sustained speeds of anything over 90kph strains the engine.
I usually have to travel to Chennai on business, and that's when I can feel the AX7 failing on me. On my last trip, I had a sustained 110kph ride between Krishnagiri-Vellore (~120kms), I stopped for a break and when I restarted, I could literally feel the internals grinding. Moreover, I also noticed a loss of top-end (down to 130kph from 140) - now thinking of switching back to Throttle 10W30 else switching to 300v.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

At what interval you change engine oil. And I heard from some guy we should top up small amount of engine oil as per need. Is it right ?

Never used Shell, so cannot comment on it. I've only ever used Castrol, Motul, Valvoline, and Elf, but in a two-stroke engine. Only thing I'm aware about the Shell AX-7 is that it is a semi-synthetic mineral-based blend, in comparison to the comparable Motul 5100, which is also semi-synthetic but ester-based. That gives the Motul an advantage in my opinion, though Shell is still way better than Castrol. Also had a good experience with Valvoline.

And the 7100 is a better oil than the 5100, which would mean way better than the Shell AX-7. From your usage pattern, you seem to be a prime candidate for Motul 7100. I found the 300V to be overkill for the CBR250 when I was still using it.

shell ultra : FS over and above motul 300v or honda 10-30.. way smoother engine and cheaper than 300V

Previously I stuck religiously to the OEM schedule - oil change every 6000 kms and previously sticking religiously to Throttle 10W30. I switched to AX7 10W40 in Feb when my ride became unreasonably rough on a ride to Chennai, but now it's time for a fresh change.

Have to think over Shell ultra and 7100. So far, my experience with Shell on the CBR was disappointing. Hoping Ultra FS would do better.

Wanna experiment? Try out Rimula R4 15w40. Drain every 2k kms.

I get my Motul 7100 bottles for around 750 rupees a litre from a little shop here in JC Road, Bangalore.

shell ultra was around 800 when i bought it and is definitely good. not able to check top speed due to road constraints
however engine is far smoother and exhaust note in now little beefed up compared to the hollow (sumeet mixer ) sound

Why did you opt for a SS oil in the first place?
AFAIK, CBR suffers with a SS oil. Shell Advance ultra FS 10W40 is tried n proven best on 250R(even better than motul) by @gopakumar & @aargee

Like I mentioned in my earlier posts, I have never tried Shell so I don't know the real world differences.

Anyway, a buddy of mine does commutes from Hyderabad to Bangalore and vice-versa on his CBR250R, and he uses Motul 300V. Even he says that every time the gearshifts on his bike actually becomes smoother at the end of his journey, that nice click of the gearchange rather than the clunk one would expect at the end of the ride. I can vouch for it because we usually go out for something to eat when he arrives, and the gearshifts are like butter. He likes to maintain a cruise speed of 120kmph on his bike, that should put enough of a load to come to some conclusions.
