Sorry.. I just am not the photoshop guy n neither do i have a pic that can help you decide. Even if the color is of high quality, a LOT depends on the quality of the workmanship to get it nice and right.
yup... i have seen gold on R15 and infact it looks better on black than on blue..
the issue is mine is tri-colour and the dark colours are all over the tank and front.. the side fairing and rear side is all white which will make the bottom half all light
and non attractive and gold will loose its charm over all light shade..

matte gold looks superb with grey/blue/black..

yes satin black will look awesome but i would want to have extreme good paint job and not wheels like fz on which i find the black paint to be a shoddy job..

Good idea mate. I too was thinking of adding some cosmetic beauty to my babes. As of now have planned for blue colour levers. Colouring the alloys would be a good option. Thank you for the idea buddy.

I have asked a freind to get a photoshopped pic. As soon as i get it would post it here.

      • Re: Honda CBR 250R : CBR rim/wheel paint

Hi, I am writing after a very long time almost 10 Months after my Initial expression about my new CBR250R ABS. My baby has completed the 8K Kms on the Odo and I can say I have mixed emotions about my overall experience. Please give suggestion on the niggling issues I am facing.

        Good Things First

        1. Looks
I love the way the Baby CBR Looks. Initially I did not like it's looks but with time I have started loving it. It's just like the Wine..!! you need to develop a tase for it. The Honda design is very proportionate and it complements my built very well(since I am 6Ft Tall so you can understand). And with the Clear lens projectors it will just look much better. My CBR is the OLd color scheme black. It has silver alloys. I am bit confused if I should paint the alloys to black. I think with black alloys it will look better. The only eye sore in the lokks dept is the huge exhaust.

        2.Outright performance-
Though I have not measured the 0-60 or 0-100 I am sure the CBR is real fast though the power delivery is very linear so you do not get that adrenalin rush which you may epect with a Qrtr lts bike. I have reached the top speed of 145Km/hr max. The abundance of torque makes the ride highway friendly. It's just so fun to ride CBR On highways.

        3.Ride Comfort-
The riding position is quite comfortable for lon rides as well as City traffic.I did have pain in my palms initially but later i realised that was due to the handle grip provided by the Dealer. Once I removed those the handle grips are more comfortable.

4.ABS- This is the best part of the bike. I highly recommend ABS over the Standard breaks. It is very very usful in Indian road conditions. I feel very secure with the ABS at any Speed. No sudden Heart in mouth situation with this. Absolutely loving it.

        Not So Good Things-

        1.Tires-
This bike has got the worst rear tire. It just does not give any kind of complement to the potential the bike has. It does not grip on the uneven surface at all. Specially on the Suburban Mumbai roads whre most of the roads are broken, uneven and made of the cement blocks. On the tarmac it performs OK but on the cement roads its horrible. We can blame the Roads also for this. But it's reaaly frustrating. The rear loses whenever I try to bend and take turn.

        2.Suspension-
Again the Suspension setup with the pathetic rear tires multiplies the handling woes. But again this is only for bad roads like in Mumbai. On highway bike is rock solid and stable. With the ABS the nosediving problem is reduced. You need to apply both rear and fron brakes simultaneously to get the best braking.

        3.Niggling issues--
I have had 6-7 Punctures so far just in the rear tire. One of the puncture is just below the alloy. With lot of difficulties the guy was able to reduce the puncture but still the air keeps passing through it so I need to keep filling the Air every 2 Days. This is really annoying.

Off late I was having issues with the handling of the bike. At slow speeds the handle was swaying either ways in zigzag motion. And in traffic the movement of handle bwcame very stiff. When I showed this to the ASC they said it is due to the cone set. Now I have changed the cone set. After changing the cone set bike has become more flickable and maneuverable. But it still goes in the zigzag motion at speeds below 25Km/hr when riding without holding the handle. I still don't know what is the reason behind this. Need suggestion on this from fellow riders

The Other issue is the rattling sound of the windhield which i chose to ignore.

The most irritating of all is the tik tik noise from the engine when the bike is at 4k to 5k at 3rd gear and above. The third Service is due in May I will try and find some solution for this.

Brake Pads- The first pair of Brake pads worn out at 6.5k Kms .However the Brake pads are very average quality it lacks the bike but just does it's job.

Having said all this, I am really happy with my baby. Honda as usual will never dissappoint with the Engine Dept. However the small issues needs to be taken care of otherwise the Gem of a bike feels annoying some times. ( Just like your GFs/Wives...If you dont pay attention to them they start Annoying you...)

this first thought is matte black just like the newer versions which certainly looks amazing and will work out well with my 2012 tri-colour
however posting here to know options ...
I think you should go with the Black Alloys and try out some reflective rim tapes on it. Even I am thinking to change my Alloys to Black but since my bike is just 10Months old not doing it right away.

Here's my query it might be little childish you may say but what I find little annoying is that I have to shift gears alot especially in traffic.
I don't like clutch driving never been my style but my confusion is when to change gears so that I won't damage anything I choose somewhere between 4000 rpm to 5000 rpm.
Is it ok to do the same even in first gear ?
Also I have observed I have very little clutch play (compared to other bikes) like half of it is it normal ?

        Regards,
        Mohan
First of All Congrats for the new ride...!!!

Now regarding the gear Shifts. I have seen that CBR has a very short gear ratio for the first gear. While its is good when you are starting off from 0 but in Traffic it becomes a little painfull. Generally the Speed at bumper to bumper traffic will be somewhere between 25-40Kmph. Since the 1st gear is short you need to immediately up-shift but immidiately after shifting to 2nd gear if there is a need to apply the brake you come to a virtually at a speed of 10Kmph. Now from here bike can not just take off in the second gear since the 2nd gear is little taller. So you need to do that exercise of shifting between the 1st and 2nd gear. You will get used to it in some time. And yes there is absolutely no harm in taking it to 5K rpm in first gear just that you need to pay more attention while running in as the engine tends to get hot during this period.

It is normal to have some clutch play. While my observation is in CBR there is little more clutch play that regular bikes. There should be a concerned if there is absolutely no clutch play.

Here we have to line up between 8-10 for your service work or any work. Else they are kings and they will take the job as per their own will.

Still to be at the few first in the queue then it turns outs to be 7:00 am lining.

Previously din't had issues with Bajaj and Yamaha.

Why don't Honda open more SVCs around the cities ??
I have Visited Preetam Honda (Andheri E)Twice. So far I have got nice response from them. But I am not very sure about the quality of job done. But they took my bike for small repairs without making me wait for long and did the delivery as per the scheduled time.

Do you have any idea which is the Best SVC in Mumbai for CBR? I have read about Vihaan Honda in Thane in RGs post but nothing about Mumbai SVC.

Gold goes well with a Black/White Body IMO. Had painted my white RTR's Wheel Gold, and it suited perfectly. I experiment with coloured alloys frequently since my Star City days .
Currently have my red CBR's alloy painted RED, but I am not satisfied with it. thinking of changing the front wheel to black soon.
For your Tri colour, I can see only one option, Front wheel to matt black. And leave the rear as it is.

            Hello,

Did any one put on a slip on, on their bikes? I am kind of interested in increasing the exhaust noise for highway fun. But I am worried that the AFR would be distorted leading to engine problems later.

Also, because I do not have the dough to buy branded slip ons, a local guy whom I engaged found me a replica of leo vince exhausts, the intake and outtake port diameters are similar to the stock set up, would that be enough to minimize AFR distortion?

            Regards

with conti-go's first 10,000 went fine though grip/performance is poorer than my activa's MRF to be true however after 10k is when the real havoc started.
i had 21 punctures in a span of 2 months and those were not sure to nails or anything else but the tyre itself was giving up. guess defective like many other
CBR owners faced. changed tyres and its been peaceful since then.

at 8k changing con-set is too early. for you and for other FM's i would suggest to open the cone-set and get it lubed/greased again to increase the life span.
now that you have a new set of bearings it is general tendancy for the cone-set to get loose after 100-200 km's when its new. get it tighten by few mm and your
problem shall vanish. also check for fork alignment and correct tyre pressure.

The Other issue is the rattling sound of the windshield which i chose to ignore.

its not the windshield but the gap between the headlight assembly and the inner part of front plastics that cause that rattling.
take a 4x4 in piece of rubber gasket/old tube and ask the Mech to insert it in between the two. its done. no more rattling.

The most irritating of all is the tik tik noise from the engine when the bike is at 4k to 5k at 3rd gear and above. The third Service is due in May I will try and find some solution for this.

thats normal and will reduce with time however for smoother engine and reduced sound change to shell ultra FS oil.you will see the difference.
make sure at first startup you idle the bike for a mandatory 1 minutes and then 30 seconds followed in each start. this makes a difference.

Brake Pads- The first pair of Brake pads worn out at 6.5k Kms .However the Brake pads are very average quality it lacks the bike but just does it's job.

thats too less for ABS bike. Nissin brakes with ABS are far better than brybre non abs trust me and last minimum 13-15k while non abs last 5-8k.
6k means someone fooled you for sure.

Having said all this, I am really happy with my baby. Honda as usual will never dissappoint with the Engine Dept. However the small issues needs to be taken care of otherwise the Gem of a bike feels annoying some times. ( Just like your GFs/Wives...If you dont pay attention to them they start Annoying you...).
minor niggles are always there but then that will be there with anything that has 100's of moving parts inside. feel free to ask any more queries.
8k for 10 months is too low. mine is done 20k+ now in less than 2 years.. ride the wing more often...

and as other FM suggested golden too. i can for sure try it as it wont break a bank.

also as you suggested front Matte Black which will go well with Red mudguard... how bout Glazy candy blue at rear ?
else Golden at rear and matte black at front ?

somen what you stated is true. many cbr's are still coming with conti-go's however i have read and also confirmed that newer batch tyres are better than the previous ones in terms of traction and those defects mentioned. nothing much can be done unless the showroom guys are aware of the same and they have MRF ones in stock. most of the showroom guys itself don't know if cbr's are coming with mrf's

I have taken delivery of my REPSOL EDITION 250R today from Autofin Honda (Himayath Nagar, HYD), it was an unplanned decision as I was getting mad & tortured of my NS which all of a sudden started behaving badly for last couple of days (mostly due to bad servicing done by Deccan Bajaj ASS).

Please brief/instruct me towards foremost changes/precautions to be taken till the 1000 kms reading. Also advice if to change existing Continental tyres set with any better replacements in HYD.

Just rode 20kms approx. hence will not be able to comment initial issues/feedback.

congrats and welcome to the club and indeed its an impulsive buy as you already have an NS. AARGEE has compiled a bible for CBR owners and am sure atleast i cannot add anything to it.

few things to keep in mind

keep the ride under 6k rpm until 1000km.
                      avoid sudden burst.
                      gradually increase speed.
                      maintain tyre pressure.
lube chain every 500-700 km and check chain slack.
get the cone set play checked at first service
beyond that its a pretty solid engine from honda.. enjoy your ride...
new brake pads will take some time like 100 km to dig in completely

keep the lady shining as repsol looks amazing maintained well..

                      over to other FM's

Probably you are right, but I was so fed up when I went to the SVC that I did not have the patience to inquire more about the issue. I might have done a mistake here Besides when I visited the SVC the technician first tightened the bolt which is located at the centre of the handle (I do not know what is it called ) but when I test rode the problem had worsened...Now the bike had started to move towards left. This forced me to take the decision to change the cone set. But When I received my bike I noticed there was lot of grease at the cone-set locations. This might be a standard practice but This made me wonder if they really changed the cone sets or just greased and gave it back? is there any way to check this? And the sad part is my bike still goes in a zigzag motion at speed below 25Kmph ( Without holding the handle). Is this normal? Can u tell me till wat speed you can go in straight line without losing you balance (Without holding te handle)?

take a 4x4 in piece of rubber gasket/old tube and ask the Mech to insert it in between the two. its done. no more rattling.
Will surely try this...However the rattling sound is very minute and that is limited at certain rpms so I do not worry about it much

make sure at first startup you idle the bike for a mandatory 1 minutes and then 30 seconds followed in each start. this makes a difference.
I have a slightly different opinion here. The tik tik noice is specifically at 4.5k rpm to 5k rpm at 3rd gear and above that too when I am ascending. The noise is more when I am ascending over a flyover aor the Ghats. The intensity of the noise will be more if there is a pillion. Eversince I have bought the bike I have made the ritual to idle the bike every morning till the rpm needles fall back to the normal position (Min 30Sec to Max 2 Mins). Can this problem be because of the Shims? I will definately try the Shell ultra FS Oil for next Servicing. Is this oil of the same grade as recommended?

Well I had checked the pads myself before changing. In-fact I was the one who suggested the SVC guys to change the pads as the brakes had lost it's bite completely. I had checked the Pic posted by Aargee to see if the pads are worn out or not and trust me it had reached the bottom. Can the cause of early worn out be the fact that 90% of my riding is in the CITY traffic. That too Mumbai traffic? Also what worries me is after every ride I notice that the rear disc is hotter than the front disc. And I Apply Both front and rear brakes together. This has really puzzled me.

Can u tell me till wat speed you can go in straight line without losing you balance (Without holding te handle)?

ideally my bike would started swaying left right by 19 kmph and below and my cbz would do the same at 15kmph and below which is very normal for any bike.
now that your bike is going zig-zag little too early it can be due to multiple reasons..

                          tyre pressure.
cone-set too loose as tight coneset would leave to heavy handling and going either side but not swaying.
                          fork alignment.
a lot of grease is common practise and is used while putting a new ball racer kit/cone-set for smoother operation and avoid rust as due to regular pressure wash the bearings tend to rust causing issues.

to test if the coneset it loose or tight. while on side stand pull the bike to one side as the front wheel is in air. now try to move the handle either side and see if you find any harshness or any dead spot etc .. when you push the handle to either side it should effortlessly go to other side. this will make sure its not tight.

to check if its loose. ask someone to grab both the fork and try to move it front and back and you keep you hand over either clipon and see if you find any jerk/loose feeling if so .
get it tightened. the center bolt you are talking about is the head bolt over the ball racer kit and then below that is another ring which controls the cone set tight/loose settings which is done in few mm.

the tik-tik is generalized as the shim voice or can be engine knocking. try a different fuel pump and see if it disappears. it can be due to bad fuel.
if its happening even while DE-acceleration then it can be the shims however that's pretty common as most of the cbr's have that sound post 5k kms and there is no
sure shot fix for the same . you will have to live with it. if your hands go numb after riding for 15-20 minutes then you are sitting on for 1200 bucks of expense and get shims replaced asap as per the clearance of your valves.

i guess honda FS is 10w-30 however shell is 10w-40 and it just works fine.

6.5k for ABS pads is pretty absurd. if you would have quoted 10k i would have still believed it. this time when you go for service check if the pads are touching the Discs .
also get the disc kit bleeded and check for air bubbles. can be one of set of pads. even if you ride in extreme traffic 6.5k is too less for ABS pads. thats the km rating for non-abs
                          in similar traffic situations.

as its c-abs both the pads get certain amount of pressure for braking . front disk is bigger in size and gets better ventilation compared to rear and hence the temperature
diffrence. this should not be a problem unless you smell pads burning or if its making the motorcycle go slow.

give her some more highway miles and am sure she's make you far more happier.. she stays a lil reserved and frustrated in city roads that exist between pot holes..
