It has kill switch. It doesn't have ABS but the Pirelli tires and the brakes give confidence, still it's a bummer.

This might be a rubbish question but I would like to get clarified. when I bought my cbr 4 months back, dealer didn't fix the saree guard. Personally I planned to remove saree guard after buying becauase it doesnt look good with th bike i feel. So I didnt ask for it. But now i doubt, Many strict rules are implementing by this govt in many areas including traffic. Will there by any time govt demands for compulsory saree guard on all the bikes and I need to get one that time?( I know current rule demands it but not strict anyway). Do I need to talk to dealer and get one? will they give after these many months? confused.

ideally without saree guard you cannot register a motorcycle. if it was done without it then don't bother. most of the faired bike owners remove the guard anyways including me as it looks ugly. unsure of rules in Bangalore but rest of India cops never bothered for a missing saree guard.

Its not strict in Bangalore too. But do u suggest to try getting one from dealer and keep it aside?

i got one when i got the bike and left it there at my first service. never asked them again. just left the new one as it is with them. been 3 years.
no one ever asked for it. also rules are made by RTO. the traffic cop knows .5% of those trust me.

its your will if you have a passenger who sits one sided then please get it if not i won't really bother.

I am little sceptical bcoz the avaitor disc motor I see it as small compare to CBR250. I may be wrong. But have you used it??
And how much cost diff it has?

And If I remember correctly then even P200 disc pad are direct fit to CBR250 nonABS, correct me if I am wrong

P220 rear disc pads are direct fit(costs about 180). Actually i was looking for front disc pads at a shop. The guy offered me to remove the pads and to match them. He was sure that he had the pads but was unsure which ones.

He charged me 220+80(labour). He also told me that these pads are for aviator.

Actually it was not about cost difference but actually i was not getting time to visit asc. But now i know where to get spares for cbr. I saved around 500 last month on chain set from the same shop.

Hello knowledgeable CBR Owners, need a suggestion. I own a Karizma ZMR and have clocked 60k kms in 4yrs and have toured extensively across South India, must say i am a very satisfied owner till date. But, I am planning to upgrade my ride as the old work horse is showing signs of wear. I was patiently waiting for HX250R for 1.5yrs but Hero doesn't seem to be launching it anytime soon.

Then i zeroed in on TNT 300 and even booked the bike after taking a TD, but i was skeptical about the ASS and availability of spare parts and after regularly following the TNT Ownership Thread cancelled the booking as it seemed like a white horse to maintain with many owners reporting breakdowns and niggles with electricals.

I am more of a tourer so the KTM's never made it to my list, the Yamaha R3 made it to my list only to be striked off later seeing its hefty price tag of 4.1L OTR. I was left with the new ZMR 2014, TB350, Pulsar AS 200 and RS 200 which were well with in my budget and suited my needs but none of them would be called an upgrade to my current ZMR in any way. I was not very keen on buying a CBR250 as the difference was just 25cc and it is already 4yrs old in the market, I was anticipating CBR300r to be released shortly, but was disappointed with just a non-sense sticker job showcased at the honda revfest.

I have now decided to buy a used CBR250 which would serve my commuting/touring needs for at least 2 yrs with 7 more horses and a healthy torque compared to ZMR and then upgrade to a proper adventure tourer (triumph tiger, TNT GT....etc)

I took a TD of a 2012 STD CBR 250r with red-silver combo which has 10+ change Kms on its ODO, it is completely scratch less (even on its silencer guard), with OE ContiGo tyres which can last another 15k easily (looks brand new). I couldn't to a proper TD but the bike seems to be in good condition(fingers crossed), no vibrations from the fairing except lil rattle from the visor above 7k rpm. I am keeping my budget low for this buy as I may upgrade to a bigger bike after 2-3yrs.... any suggestions or precautions before buying a used bike? What would be the best buy price for this bike?

                            Check for the following

                            1. Service history
                            2. Accidents, if any
                            3. Take the TD in traffic that is when the bike will show its true color when heated up nicely.
                            4. Check for Radiator fins, Should not be bent
                            5. Check for aftermarket additions. Sometimes these makes a nice bike and sometimes spoil it badly.

Ideal price should be around 1,10,000 rs.

                            Cheers,

Yesterday, I was waiting at a traffic signal. Since I had nothing to look at, I was looking at the tachometer and the needle was hovering between 1.3k to 1.5 k rpm. The bike was fairly heated up.

Today morning I started it and the needle did not move below 1.5K rpm. I don't know wether the behaviour of the tacho needle at traffic signal was normal as it was hovering.

                              Inputs please...

                              Cheers,

thanks for the quick response sanjay,
                                1. As the bike is with dealer coundn't see the documents or manual yet, will check it before making advance.
                                2. As i could not see any major scratches anywhere on the body it seemed like a accident free bike, will check again.
                                3. It pulled nicely in 1-4 gears as i couldn't go beyond that in my short TD, will do a comprehensive TD again.
                                4. Radiator fins were ok
                                5. The owner has installed a small tank pad and have put carbon fiber stickers on the side cowls ( which actually looks cool )

I quoted 1,10,000 but i may finalize the deal for 1,15,000 + 5k for transferring and dealer's commission. Will be very active in this group once I put my hands on the bike
