Ok, so now I am confused, both of you seem to have different opinion on this.

hehe. as far as i have seen claims going they usually send the evaluator for the clearance to the showroom and if the IDV value of the automobile is less then even for parts the value come down. I might not be updated on the same though. if anyone has claimed after 1-2 years they can probably shed some light on it.

even if you go with real IDV the difference wont be more than 500-600 bucks. its always better to be at peace with such a small difference. got with Zero-dep with real IDV my suggestion.

Hehe. Well that may be the case. May be The Insurance Agent has taken me for a ride. :P . He was afraid, that I might switch to other Insurance with low premiums. I will never advice this to any one, riding an expensive motorcycle.

Can we increase the personal accident cover? My icici Lombard policy gives only 1 lakh cover, which costs 50rs as per the breakup. Can we increase it to 3 or 5 lakh?

Today is really a bad day for me.
My front psd's finally gave up after 20k kms of brilliant ride experience.
The tyres just gave up mid ride completely flat in a matter of seconds ( should have changed it earlier, was planning to change it around the 15 )
Well no harm done to me or the bike just a really close call. Was returning from katraj to pashan, they gave up mid highway. Learnt my lesson "change tyres on time".

Now in search of new tyres
Are the psd's still available remember something near post #15655
If not which would be better coming from psd's Michelin or mrf (nv series). Currently the rears are Michelin and am pretty pleased with it.

This has been a bad stretch of days. My baby was left in the parking for about a month. when in came back the lock set was not functional as in it was shorting out. The asc gave an estimate of 21k (lock set , chain sprocket, disk pads, etc ). Got them to open the lock set and give me a night to tinker with it. Finally the was just some dirt in the lock contacts , cleaned it with wd40 and lock is working fine now.

Saw one today which was manufactured in July 2014; when asked for newer model, owner said, they have newer ones & they're imported & surprisingly none of them had MADE IN INDIA label. Since tire imports are banned, I don't know how the hell these tires are still imported. Really something to think about.

Michelin, Pirelli & MRF are the only best choices; other than that, you've Ceat & Conti (not sure if CEAT sells 110/70-17)

Which battery is used in the CBR 250r?
My horn had conked off , i went to the ASC for regular servicing he said its due to weak battery.
The bike starts in 2 cranks from a cold start , lights etc working fine.
When checked the battery gave a value of 8.
Not sure if it amps or volts.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

A battery when tested using a multimeter would always give its output in volts, If your CCA is 8 VOLTS then your battery is nearing its life. Minimum it should read 12.5 and above when tested. Anything less the battery is partially weak and anything below 11 means the battery is draining very fast. Get it checked. CBR's rated at 12v6Ah
                  @psr sir.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                  The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Well, personally I feel zero depreciation is always a good option for a well-maintained bike. If something goes wrong with your bike, in most cases you will get better benefit with zero depreciation. What's your insurance cost after 2year with zero depreciation?

I had my vehicle valued at appox 1.6L after 1yr and when I had one small crash, with zero depreciation ASVC changed my both of side fairings, front, windscreen, mudguard and other few body parts which costs atleast 8-10K without any money. I had to pay a sum of only Rs. 500 for wheel alignment and some mechanic cost. So, I believe it's worth it.
