Thanks for the tip-off, friend. I have managed some good stoppie angles, but since I have a broken mudguard I guess it didn't touch anywhere. Ne'ertheless, will keep an eye next time. Thanks

P.S. Did I mention your lid looks nice with the bike?
        Thanks mate

Even if under extereme dive it would touch the trye directly just missing the fender and not the fender If i am not wrong.
I was sitting at the rear... and the road was laid recently... no chance of slipping... Maybe I weigh too much so that the bike doesnt lift even if I am in the back.

And yes, the number plate does touch the fender... noticed that on atleast 3 bikes...

        • The Piston Rings of my CBR are gone, its giving smelly blue smoke not every time but many times. The showroom people still think that adjustment of the tappet will cure it but my bike is consuming lot of oil i.e. 600-700 ml every 1000 kms.
They dont even have any spare parts so i am still riding it and will give it to the showroom after the parts arrive.
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

sorry for the sms thingy....my bad, nyways. aargee sir i wanted to say thx for the reply u gave.and icemag too....sir the sound i mentioned was the buzz that u hear under the tank as u switch on the engine on-off switch.iv noticed the buzz has a tick tick sound towards the end...as though its hitting against something or has a obstruction and the other sound iv noticed is when the bike is idling or moving when i raise etc.a sound i didnt notice b4 the fall.the thing is i m noticing these things after the fall or does the bike start to sound different as it clocks more kms??. or my ears are to sharp i dont know...abt the oil i noticed the level difference when i went to pick the bike up.and then asked them to check it out and they topped it up,as of now iv clocked 80kms...im getting used to the bike and i try to keep it at 4k RPM...sir as of surya honda being gud etc i Dont know coz IM NOT SATISFIED...plus the way the CBR techs ride the bike is very rash, they rev hard and ride rash...apart from tht the bike is ok i mean no other problems except for the sounds.....

Screw your courage to the sticking place.

            • Got my CBR 250R Grey ABS in less than a week

Though this is too late and people have come to know a lot on this bike, I know this post is gonna be large for many reasons
              1. This is my first post in a public blog
              2. Wanted to provide information for prospective 250R buyers
              3. More excited after getting my 250R.

Please pardon. Things are good as long as my membership is not cancelled.

After struggling for nearly 7 years (from 2004 dec ) after buying discover 125 DTSi, through various forums, through different motorcycle company websites and reviews, settled on CBR 250R in April when it was launched.

My friend, Navidh, advised not to take initial chances by booking ahead and to wait for some time. Though not sure if Honda cleared all initial issues with this bike, we decided to book this bike last Saturday.

I used to call every HMSI dealership in Chennai for the past 2 months every weekend and enquired about the waiting period for this bike.

Last Saturday, when I called each dealership, there was a difference. The waiting period quoted was half (4 - 5 months) .. may be due to HMSI opening a new plant. Luck struck when I called Manasarovar Honda ..

Having used the Discover DTSi (torquey, vibe-full, sturdy 125 cc engine) I had a liking to relish the smooth and rev happy Honda engines experienced on my father's Activa.

The person at Manasarovar told he has a Black ABS model ready to be delivered ... I choose the one with ABS as I dont want my mistakes in braking to break the bikes fairings. I made a call to Navidh and we decided to check the bike and then decide further. Though we were looking for a red color bike, we made up to just look at the heart of the machine than on its appearance.

I reached Manasarovar and enquired for the Black ABS bike. I was taken to the stock yard where the bike stood with loose seats and couple of scratches and paint peals on the fairings. Also the fender below pillion seat was missing and found it in a box there with a scratch. I was taken back. Then enquired the salesman if he had some other color as I already saw the Grey color bikes which stood in front of the showroom and I glanced while entering.

He said that ABS is available on Grey color bike. I went and looked at the bike. It had zero scratches and it looked good to me than black. Also the painting appeared more metallic than black. I said I will contact on Monday.

Sunday was a horrible day. Deciding with my father whether is it worth to spend ~2lakh on a bike. Why dont we upgrade our car? Thoughts flew and lots of hits to xbhp on that day. Later I decided if not today then never and to book the bike by giving 5K on Monday.

Monday, I paid 5K and asked for Grey ABS. My delivery time was 10 days. I spoke with some financier there and enquired for EMI. On analysis, found the EMI to match my personal loan. Applied for a top up and doing some math with my credit card loan feature, asked my sister to fund me and promised to return back in 2 weeks.

The payment was done on Vijayadasami, after thinking again if this is a worthy investment that morning. I was promised delivery on the next day, Friday. Friday I got a call only at 6.40 PM and I wanted to do the PDI on Xbhp. So told the person that I would visit on the next day.

On Saturday, it was raining that afternoon. Worried about the small mud guard of 250R, decided to leave to showroom with my helmet, umbrella and some papers. When I reached there, they searched for my bike and told my records were not there. Later they made up themselves that I am taking the bike without registration.

As usual, they asked me to sign the delivery challan stating "bike received with good condition". Then allowed to look at the bike. I made the PDI as in the list and happy to see most matched. My only concern is the scratch on the visor becaused of using ordinary cloth. My father asked me to ignore this as he wanted the delivery process to be smooth .. no quarrels .. decided to keep my mouth shut and be a good son.

Lots of deliveries that day and in 30 minutes the delivery incharge for 250R called me and showed my bike. He asked if I wanted to fix the saree guard. Strict No here. Gave it to my father. The bike was washed, small demo given, and I came home that night without any problems. On Sunday morning, found that the bike paint surface to lack something as I have some knowledge on car detailing. Thought a coar of wax should do the trick and applied Meguiars paste wax with micro fiber mitt and towel. The bike shined, took some photos and finished pooja that morning.

Initial experience: Felt the bike to be comfortable and ride quality was good over bumps and big dumps. However pot holes and road crevices, bother my comfort. Engine pick up felt really good and it was easy to ride in city traffic also. I never pushed after 3.5K rpm. Couldnt make good use of ABS but the bike felt stable when i applied the rear brake than front. I was just doing 45 - 50 kmph and never crossed 5th gear.

Issues popped: My left ORVM got loose and there was not square head wrench in the toolkit underneath the seat. Hope I will get them after registration. The mirror will be fixed this weekend.

Unknown issue: I drove the bike like I drive any other bike. Normally when I am driving 30-35 kmph and in third gear, approaching a stop sign, drop my accelaration. But when I did the same in 250R, the noise of the engine changed as though someone is pulling rusted piston in the cylinder. Need to check this with the service personnel. Any idea on this is welcome.

Monday, just started the bike. Dad insisted not to roam without registration. Again good son show off. Booked my desired number at the RTO and gave the paper to the dealership. Will be taking my bike for registration tomorrow.

At last I think my search for a bike with good engine and capable of cruising at 80 - 100 kmph without vibes is achieved. Hope I may have some issues in the initial days as it a mechanical device. I am happy now and relaxed thinking how to test this kid. More happy that mom and sisters too admired the style of this bike; My mom went unhappy when I told she cant sit with saree.

More Info ::: If any one lookin for 250R in chennai, please visit Manasarovar. I hope they still have the Black ABS and hope they deliver with new panels. ALso they have std models too. Check if they are booked by someone else.

Welcome to the thread and congrats on your new possession, and nicely put. I assure you it will impress you everyday.
And some points for you to note:
                  1) Never ride the CBR like you ride your discover, it is entirely different and you need to adjust to it and it cannot pretend like a discover for you . I mean to say forget the discover experience and don't expect it to work like discover.
                  2) The stammering while decelerating you mentioned is usual with the CBR, shift down. Maintain over 3K-4K rpm in every gear you will be pleased.
                  3) You said you have not exceeded 3.5K ?, the real CBR is beyond that band enjoy riding!!!

                  Ride safe! Ride hard! enjoy!

Thanks for the info. Will try this tomorrow. Most of the time, my dad was my pillion and I couldnt stretch the bike. As suggested, will maintain 3K-4K.

Hopefully its the fuel pump motor; it needs to be checked; if you're talking with ASC to demonstrate the issue, show them both from a new C250R as well as your C250R & make them understand there's an issue. They will be reluctant to take this issue because, they're trained only to change shims, wash, dismantle/assemble the bike, change consumables etc.

This is the worst thing to do!!! Open up, its not a old technology engine to keep the revs low. Don't break your engine by lugging it, its much dangerous than revving. Just ensure you don't go past 6-7K RPM on any gears (except 6th). Ride fast if you want to, but don't do sudden acceleration, just do it gradually (like take about 30-40 seconds to reach 80-110 etc)

That's way too much & probably the rings are worn out; BTW, what engine oil are you using? Is it FS, SS or mineral? Is it HMSI supplied engine oil?

Can you try switching to 20W-40 engine oil & see if the smoke still appears?

As I understand bland, icemang just increased the height of clip-ons a few inches. But since he isn't taking part in GP this mod should be OK. Even I'd like to understand as what potential danger you see in this

I knew that the toolkit should have 9 pieces as per xbhp PDI list. But there was only 7. When enquired, I was told that except insurance and invoice copy, everything else will be delivered after registration. So will be knowing the status on this soon today.
You are right; I closed the throttle. Think I should change a little bit of my riding. I did shift the gears lower, from 3 to 2, but engine started roaring as my rpm and gear didnt match. Think I need some practice. Will update on this if I found something else.

                            • And what has tools got to do with registration? Anyway, why hurry up is what I'd ask? Why not wait until the bike is registered? If one can wait for 7-10 days to get the bike, why not wait additional 2-3 more days for getting it registered?

Don't be hard on the engine, when you shift down, ensure the RPM does not go past 4K RPM to begin with.
