  • @Strikepackage - There's no hard & fast rule; I remember telling you this before, keep under 5-6K until 6th gear, even if you exceed once or twice in a day, its ok.

I'm not aware on this; let me learn on this & get back to you; but from an overall perspective I don't think its going to hamper anything major. Anyway, while I learn, we'll see how other seniors like PSR ji responds.

Extending the clip on , on top of the front fork tubes by screwing down extensions is not adviceable..I had already expressed this due to handling probs, possibility of the extension breaking due to sudden load shift to one side of handle bars, and most importantly the right hand side extension will move ANTI clockwise...ie., loosen the extension at every time the pressure increases on the right handle bar...this will lead to a fatal road condition..

Don't be hard on the engine, when you shift down, ensure the RPM does not go past 4K RPM to begin with.
I had some good time today. I followed these rpm hints and the ride was pleasure. This is also good instead of fastly changing gears and reaching the top whack. This engine is eager to rev, however tried to keep the revs below 6K and speed below 80kmph.
Leave way and then accelarate ... then overtake ....

You're welcome to increase the speed but do it very gradually only in 6th gear so that you aren't revving the engine too much. But after the first oil change (whenever you feel the engine being rough) feel free to open up the RPM levels on any gears but only upto 70% (say 7-7.5K or max 8K RPM) in any gear.

          • Ok just found out....my colt got burnt on the right hand side. There is also a tear. Now it wasn't stuffed and I didn't realise, if atall, whether it hit the tyre or no :S. I still do not know when and how it happened

And this on the right side, where the saree guard should be.

Isn't that left hand side? Right hand side is where you hold the throttle & the exhaust is present isn't it

Or did you swap the RHS with LHS of the saddle bag unintentionally?

              • Due to lack of Oil Filter availability in my place , what is the maximum permissible KM can be clocked after crossing 1000KM without harming the engine ?

                Please let me know.

P.S:- 1st service done a month ago, engine oil changed to Honda 20w40 (which comes in white bottle, don't know it is SS or FS or mineral).

IIRC you got your bike from SHIVA Honda and hope you did your first service there only... Try with TODI, they were having stock of oil filter..

                    • I agree with you icemang, I find it difficult to ride in the city. At the same time, my friend Sudeep N can ride it in the city like a whisker of a cat.
It depends on the usage of a person, damn 2.5 hours of traffic? Does it not get heated up?

Everyone here has a different view!!! Everyone says its an excellent city machine while you say its snarls & jerks!!! Personally all of us are experiencing the vehicle zooming into city roads without a minutest glitch.
Well, I for one don't zoom around on city roads.

The above characteristics refer to the inevitable downside of having a precise FE setup on the engine; you won't find this happening on a carburetted engine. Why, ask me later about digital vs analogue fuel metering. You will find many bikes abroad also exhibit this. It requires extra smooth clutch and throttle operation to prevent this from happening. But then the advantage of FE too is there - fuel efficiency, smooth hold on RPMs in gear, precise fuel-air mixture etc, emission compatibility etc.

All we intended to say is the bike has good torque & everyone from magazine to owners to test riders, nationally & internationally unanimously agree the bike is good for city riding while you're the only person saying jerking & snarling. When asked for clarification you're talking on digital fuel metering, precise FE setup & total OT!!!

                              Nice for Sudeep

That 2.5 hours was about traffic holdups due to inoperational one side of NH8 just after Surat and the second one at the Bharuch bridge. I used to switch her off and push to keep up with the snail's pace crawl of the traffic, else the engine might have heated up. But did not give the chance to do so
