  • Got the bike

    Hi there,

I just picked up my red standard CBR250R today and did about 50 odd kilometers. Dig the bike. Thanks for all the help and information on this thread, it did help me decide.

    I just had one question,

    1. What kind of petrol do you use normally. I got a 1.5 litre petrol voucher from the showroom where they asked me to fill it from the pump within their showroom and it was the regular petrol. Some were mentioning Shell etc, but can we put in regular petrol or we need to put in that Speed stuff?

    2. I got to know that we can adjust the height of the Gears. Can somebody please confirm if the Brake lever height can also be adjusted vertically? I dont see any nut as such.

    Thanks
    Sun

I too face this problem post first service.

On another note: Took the bike to ASC this evening. They checked the bike and said the oil's leaking from the filter/filter area.
        Now this begs a question:
If i remember this right there is a mark on the filter which says which side goes in? COuld it be that the mechanic has fitted my filter with the wrong side going In? I think i remember this happening to someone here. And the leak has been confirmed now so they asked me to get the bike Monday morning for a full day inspection. Not gonna touch my bike.. Just rode it for a few kms and now il just take it straight to the ASC on Monday. Hope its not a big problem

i think its only because u are using another grade eingen oil in your cbr same thing happened wid aargee .
1st try to change the engine oil to 10w30 FS then see the diffrence.
Umm i serviced the bike at the ASC and am pretty sure the oil used with filter change was the 10W30(confirmed)

        • Tomorrow i have my first service. Which oil should be used? i guess a non synthetic oil should be used right? Is the 10W30FS mentioned in the owners manual a fully synthetic oil?...
Please do reply early as i have the service tomorrow itself. thanks

          • Tips for hassle free long drives.

I guess all CBR owners love to go for long drives, but how do we make our journey hassle free? I have started thinking about this and finally come to a plan.
I have bought following things to put my thoughts into reality.
            1) 300 PSI air pump cost around 900 to 1600 depends on quality. Generally they come in smaller sizes so we can keep it in tail bags or backpacks. The one I bought cost me Rs 1400.
            2) Tubeless puncture repair kit cost 300 bugs
            3) Two wheeler 12v power socket. It cost me Rs 450 Xenos brand.
            4) 12V to USB charger costs 400.
Since CBR battery is bigger compare to normal bikes, we can run air pump on this battery for inflating the tires. I have tested this with Volt meter. I have measured the voltage drop when air pump is turned on. Believe me it works great.
Volt reading on standby battery - 12.78 volts
Volt reading when air pump is turned on – 12.30 volts.
CBR battery is capable of inflating tires with ease. We can also charge mobile phones, GPS and other electronic gadgets.

              Congrats!

              1. I use normal petrol. Haven't had any problem so far. You can go ahead with normal petrol.

              2. I guess you meant height of gear lever. Yes, you can adjust its height. Its basically two nuts on the gear lever which you need to adjust. If you're not aware of how to do it, get it done from the SVC. They shouldn't charge anything for that. Its just a simple setting.

              • Yes you can change the height of both the levers. Brake lever van be adjusted by a bot near the mounting of the brake lever.

I got the oil filter but i did not get the 10w30 oil so i used 20w50 oil yesterday. and today morning the bike could not be started by any means. is it because of the oil change?? and for information the outside temperature was around negative 5 degree.
                            thanks in advance.

heat is damaging to the laquer coat... so never EVER USE WARM WATER. the bike will lose the shine much earlier than you expect.
