I had to get a new bike due to my relocation to another station and having had implicit trust in Honda, thought that I would go for the CBR and do long tours esp to meet my wife and kids in Pune.

But the bike, IMO, is nothing but a status symbol. The riding posture is awkward on long routes, the circuit-oriented tyres preempt any riding in rain; in fact, they are ATROCIOUS on wet roads, spares are not easily available and the price, as you rightly put it, is twice that of the P220. I am now planning to sell the bike before it puts on too many miles or gets scratched by the horrific traffic here in Rajkot. Any aspiring owners settled in Pune (the bike has a Pune number) pls PM me and we can negotiate the deal.

I regret not getting the P220 now. It would have complemented my P150 Classic very nicely, would have been comfy in town as well as highway riding and to top it all, I could have gone to Leh too. Bad decision this, getting the CBR...

u can't sell your bike here like this ..
now ppl will think that your bike has problem thats why u selling it..
if u need to sell your bike then don't tell u made wrong decision on buying cbr or spare parts prob..

better say-bec of some personal issue i have to sell my bike then only u will get some buyers..

      • My CBR experience

        Hey Guys,

Seeing lots of problems with CBR users on this forum. But I experienced CBR in a totally different way.
Got my CBR on 29th July 2011 (in Jaipur) and completed 1000 on 31st July 2011
After completing 1000 Km, I took my bike from Jaipur to Mumbai on 3rd August, and hence completed 2200 km by 5th of August, I rode all 2200km within 85kmph limit. This trip was covered in couple of newspapers:

After getting my bike serviced again (at 2300 km , oil change and chain adjustments only). I took my bike for a speed test yesterday.
I was able to go upto 141kmph on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway and had to lower the speed due to diversions and road conditions but i felt that it had another 10 kmph potential left after 140 kmph.

I also felt that Honda could have used better gear box for CBR, gears are hard to shift and it is a real bugger in city riding.

In terms of comfort, I would say CBR is quite good ( I am 5'6" and weigh 63 kg).

Mechanic said the sealing between alloy and tyre might have leak, removing and refitting would fix. Guys anyone ever faced such issue with the tubeless?
If it has a leak, why doesn't he put the wheel and tyre in his water trough and show you exactly where it is leaking?

+1000 to your post buddy even just 4 days back i had similar ride From udaipur to mumbai and even after riding 750kias in Rain-mud- slush and what not i was fresh enuf to go for nightout with my friends right after takink bath . Bike is superb on NH8 i was cruising @ 130-132 kmph most of the time and even managed to hit 150+ on couple of times and yet i got Average of 33.33kmpl on normal petrol .

Hey icemag sir no offence to you but trust me CBR is way better than P220 in terms of touring and handling and even quality . Cbr has awesome suspention people may comment that it is too soft and it affects handling but then on long runs it is only because of this super soft suspension setup bike feels like glider and you dont even notice small pothole or uneven surface which in case of other bikes may give you nice hit on your A@#$ . and yea this bike is not menat for top speed and all i think the high torq level is to improve bikes curusing ablity @ high speed (110-120+) . again i dont mean to offend any one .
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

            • Come on guys please dont compare CBR with Pulsar 220.
A bike is not about cost-kmph-kpl-spares only. All those who are commenting about top speed please ride both bikes one after another and then compare, when CBR is at 120 how it feels and how is the feeling on Pulsar220? On CBR it is stress free and relaxed which cant be said about 220, though it sure is capable of 140kmph.

Then coming to dynamic feeling, CBR is much more confidence inspiring at high speeds and breaking than 220 in all regime.

Quality wise may be first lot or two of CBR were bad, its not the case with the fresh lots. I have a CBR ABS Black delivered in aug, so far no problem and first servicing done, 1100 km in 11 days. Whatever saying pulsar quality is better than CBR is a bit more I am sure, yes they may be at par.

Now what ever I have said about the two bikes in comparison is not theory only seeing my CBR, incidentally I also own a Pulsar 220 (Feb 2011).

As bikers we must go beyond only top speed and price when comparing two models. No offence meant, but I strongly feel as I have said.

                      • Facing the same issue as many are facing with their CBRs. The steering cone issue, The steering feels tight at slow speeds, Will take it to the SVC soon and get it confirmed and rectified.

Well said techfreak, I have the first black CBR ABS to roll out to the streets of hyderabad and till date I've got no issues at all. I touched 160kmph on the odo, did 3400 kms till date, done with first servicing, changed oil at 3100 kms again (full synthetic this time). I get good FE aswell 35 KMPL. Went on many long rides, was redlining it, on a recent trip, I averaged 100kmph while going to my destination, did a couple of burnouts, tested my ABS to the maximum extent, cornered and what not. I'm 100% satisfied with the bike. and BTW, I had a aug 2010 P220 before I got my hands on the CBR. P220 has more torque and thats good for the city but on the highways, it really cant take the beating.

Check rubber bushings on bolts which tie fairing to chassis. They may crack / fall off creating sqeeky sound. Alternatively, tighten fairing bolts. They tend to get loose after a high speed dash.
