About to change my engine oil in few days. Now I have 1 new bottle of Shell 1L and another half of it. I'm a bit curious whether that would suffice or not as this time I will change the oil filter. What do you guys suggest? Should I keep another bottle handy in case it requires a bit more oil during filter change?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I have changed the oil + filter by using only 1.5L of oil. So you can go ahead and change without any worries. If you feel that the oil is low after riding, then buy a new bottle and top up to your satisfaction.Originally posted by hypheni View PostAbout to change my engine oil in few days. But i have never filled 1.6L during my entire 6 services done which included oil filter change(unless the service center is generous enough not to bill the 100ml of oil they filled during the oil filter change

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I would suggest keep an extra bottle handy. I think the oil requirements are 1.8 L. Putting in 1.5 L won't be a problem but keeping in mind that you won't need another oil change before 10000 kms, you'll probably have to top it up at 5000 kms. So fill in the required quantity (1.8l) and keep you can mix the remaining with the old container you have for a topup later.Originally posted by hypheni View PostAbout to change my engine oil in few days. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Just an hour back when I started from office cranked the engine and it started as normal then suddenly it stopped, I thought it is due to quick clutch release but I was unsure. After that 4-5 attempts with throttle opening it started. Fuel level was 3 bars, what could be the issue. Bike is 3.3 years old and 17.5k on odo.

Happens to me too. Honda says it's due to flooding of the engine.Originally posted by hypheni View PostJust an hour back when I started from office cranked the engine and it started as normal then suddenly it stopped, I thought it is due to quick clutch release but I was unsure. Re: Honda CBR 250R
1.8l is the total engine oil capacity which is required when you open up the engine. During standard oil changes the recommended amount is 1.4l and with the oil filter replacement is 1.5l as far as i know.Originally posted by quarter_litre_master View PostI would suggest keep an extra bottle handy. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Happened to me once recently. 38k on the odo. Definitely flooding. Rapidly throttling while starting seems to solve the problem.Originally posted by hypheni View PostJust an hour back when I started from office cranked the engine and it started as normal then suddenly it stopped, I thought it is due to quick clutch release but I was unsure. Re: Honda CBR 250R
May I ask which is the magic oil which lasts 10k kms? Are you using those intervals to change the oil in your CBR?Originally posted by quarter_litre_master View PostI would suggest keep an extra bottle handy. I think the oil requirements are 1.8 L. Shell Advance ultra 10W40. Shell boasts for it to double the oil change interval. So I decided to test it. Runs smooth till 10k.Originally posted by leech View PostMay I ask which is the magic oil which lasts 10k kms? Are you using those intervals to change the oil in your CBR?Doing whatever it takes.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Now, that's a revelation. Some guys who use Shell Advance ultra in their Discover and Splendor recommend 4k oil changed intervals. A few zma/zmr owners change their Shell Advance ultra at 2-4k kms. It's so frigging confusing, not to mention hilarious when you question them - they all mention smoothness as the deciding factor on oil change.Originally posted by quarter_litre_master View PostShell Advance ultra 10W40. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Do you really follow 10000kms interval for oil change? Per manual it's 6000kms and most of the ppl change it around 5000kms. I'm using Shell 10w40 too from last time. And now I have done 4500+kms and planning to change it after some where around 5200kms.Originally posted by quarter_litre_master View PostI would suggest keep an extra bottle handy. 10k? How did you determine that the oil hadn't deteriorated by then? Or did you just top up and keep riding?Originally posted by quarter_litre_master View PostShell Advance ultra 10W40. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yah man. I have followed the 10000km interval twice. For the 6000km service I check at the service station. When they gave the OK I checked the oil level and top it up.Originally posted by hypheni View PostDo you really follow 10000kms interval for oil change?
