Guess what my friend....when my certain people hear that I paid 2.1 Lacs for my bike, 99.99% of them admonish me for not buying a car that would cost marginally more. (and my dad still doesn't know how much I paid for a "new motorcycle"!)

But again, it's about personal choice. We both (Me & my wife) both love biking. And I absolutely, absolutely hate the threadbare 'economy hatchbacks' and the sub-four-metre sedans designed to cut taxes. I love cars only when I see them in my rear view mirror!

Moreover, if I'd have preferred cars, I'd be on team-bhp instead of x-bhp!

ha..ha..ha..same in my case too... i lied my dad that my new bike would cost 85k to 90k... his reply was "why are you going for such costlier bikes. buy something between 50K-60K".. imagine what would have been his reaction if i had told the original price ?

Good choice of ABS bro, riding CBR for more than 18months, this bike brings that smile you always dreamed off... Just back from a Rajasthan trip, ripping in the border roads.. It's a great machine & worthy investment.. Contigo rear tire is not gripping as expected.. U need a warm tire for propper cornering in this bike. Changed to IRC, cornering is very good & easy now.

Now how do I verify if its 2012 or 2013? My Insurance paper states the manufacture date as 2013 itself. I'm pretty sure the same will be on the RC cards too!

I went in for an ABS after reading 700+ pages on this thread - after I started believing that ABS is safer.
But belief and faith are two different entities. Belief comes from knowledge. Faith comes only from real-life experience. This Sunday I was returning at night from a trip with my wife as pillion - it was around 9PM and we were cruising at 100 - when the lovely smooth asphalt suddenly vanished - and there was a long patch of uneven, gravel-dirt track. As the bike began jumping around violently, I panicked and hit the brakes - and it was only after I slowed down safely to 30kph that I realized - had it been the non-ABS, I'd have been writing these lines from a hospital and my bike would have been a write-off.

Expensive? Yes, it is. But not more than my (or my family's) life.
Hey buddy this reminded me of my experience when i bought my bike in nov 2011,actually i had booked a honda aviator scooter from this sub-dealer...after waiting for almost 40 days and tired of making umpteen phone calls i decided of cancelling my booking and went to the dealer to collect cash i had paid him, that's when i saw this red & silver beauty which had arrived for servicing, god it was love at first sight, just casually asked the dealer the cost and the waiting period and he said ....."saar will get it in 3 days for you and its a promise".... any way i took a brochure and went home to show it to my wife ,she could very well see my excitement like a kid holding a candy in his hand and without asking a word she told me with a smile "i want you you to buy that bike"...no word could describe my excitement hearing that statement from my wife.Next morning went to the dealer, handed over the cheque to him and settled for the black non-abs model and then the long wait started........ finally after 3 day got a call from the dealer, went to the showroom with my wife and saw my bike in one corner, the guy there asked me sir you can take a test ride after that we will wash & polish the bike for you...,ok ...i took the keys from him and started the bike ,as i engaged the first gear the bike stalled after the that the bike refused to start even after repeated attempt by the technicians ,my heart sank ...they kept trying to start the bike till the battery lost its charge, then they got another battery and the same think continued, after an hour i was told don't worry will get it started seems like a small problem and they have already called for a service engineer and will give me a call as soon as the problem is sorted out ,after waiting for another day when i did not get a call from them i went to the showroom to check the status of the bike and saw the bike being loaded in a tempo to be taken to the main dealer for repairing and was told by the owner will get it repaired as soon as possible , i said..." whaaaaat get a brand new bike repaired "......could not control my anger and told him enough is enough either give me a new bike or refund me my money....thats when he started making phone calls to the main dealer...after some time he returned to me and said i can give you a silver bike or i can give you a black ABS model or you will have to wait for 2 weeks........i was totally confused ..was not a big fan of silver and also was in no mood to shell out the extra 28K for the ABS model and waiting for another 2 weeks impossible, thought of taking the cheque back from the dealer and approaching some other dealer, called my wife told her the situation ,....the reply i got from my wife was totally unbelievable....she said" when you drive a car with ABS why not a bike " just go for the ABS model ........it was very difficult for me to control my emotion...i said ok.... told the showroom owner about my decision and he assured me he would personally check the bike before picking it from the dealer and told me don't pay me the difference unless & until you are totally satisfied with the bike..now 14 months down the line after doing 7000 plus km on the bike i certainly feel it was an excellent decision to go for the ABS model cause it has certainly bailed me out of tight situations on 3 occasions. Buddy..... even my wife ON MOST OCCASIONS would toss me the bike key instead of car keys when going out together.

Guess what...I have the same situation. My parents don't know the actual price lol. My freinds suggested to go for nano instead or a Alto or Eon but they don't realise what a bike means to me.

Are you using IRC on both front & rear. I guess IRC is not available in stock size for rear. Which size you using at rear.

                Lucky, dude!
I had committed the mistake of tagging along my wife when I went to the showroom to finalize the bike. When the salesman spurted out the OTR Price of Rs.2,07,800, my wife was like..."Whaaaaaaaat? I thought it was only 1.5 lacs!".
Took me a lot of crafty lies and finally I managed to convince her that 2lacs was the price for the tricolor edition and the red color was 1.7 Lacs "Only" :P
Moreover, having travelled on 2 long trips with me on a P200NS, she instantly found the CBR much more comfortable - which is why she gave in!

Man... I was so desperately searching for a silver ABS version. Didn't find it anywhere in Bangalore. By sheer coincidence, I came across a silver 250ABS at a dealership in my hometown when I was there in December. But again, considering the hassles of transporting it to Bangalore and transferring the registration made me change my mind.

i'm using IRC in rear only-same stock config 140/70 R17- luckily got one just same like Prahsnat Soni- POS , searching options for front now (PSD/IRC/MRF/ atlast COntigo) wished Michelin launches the tires a little sooner than said.

                    Hi BBSRAILFAN & GOPAKUMAR,

Seems you are Married with Bikes & Wifes
Yes I would be joining your company soon.

Had been Riding my White Angel ZMR for 990 Days with 34000 Km till date in Kolkata.
Would be selling this and relocating to Chennai from mid Feb-2013.

Planning to buy a CBR 250R ABS or No CBR at all.
Remains to be seen my finances, Office Location etc before deciding one in Chennai.

Rationally how would you rate the comfort factor for Rider & Pillion on long rides.
Planning to tour extensively the entire South India during my stay in Chennai.

Your much needed inputs will put me in a better frame of mind.

                    Thanks In Advance.

Are there any Good Samaritans who can help me in quoting the waiting period of RED CBR 250R ABS in Chennai?
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

Ha ha ...i totally agree with you satyajit....as far as comfort for both rider & pillion is concerned you can call me biased but i would certainly say its second to none.

Since you are coming from a ZMR, I'm sure you'd have been addicted to the upright riding position. My friend owns a zimmer and I have ridden it extensively. I am sure when you take over a CBR, you'll need a couple of days to adjust to the sporty riding position. That apart, it is very comfortable. The engine smoothness (compared to ZMR) is immediately noticeable.

                        For the pillion:
I'll quote my wife here - "It's like a horse - you'll need practice to climb on to it. But once you're settled on the seat, it feels like home!"
Prior to buying the CBR, I had a lot of reservations about the pillion seat - and the long, flat seat of the ZMR was one of the reasons why I was considering buying a ZMR. But after buying the CBR, my reservations were dispelled and I realized that the pillion seat is actually comfortable. Do remember - It is NOT as spacious as a ZMR seat - it's a cozy but comfortable seat.

i got hold of another CBR today which i will be having for next few days as have to get it serviced.
the machine holds 21,000 km in 7 months .. how bout that ?

the owner did the pan india trip on the same steed for 17k km in 41 days. touching all capitals..
only work done on it yet is the shim replacement at 12k and regular service.

                              Honda is reliable...
