CBR and Ninja are best in the league of its own.. Lets keep it this way. and stop comparing.

I second this. Ninja is a specialist while CBR is a general-ist

    • Engine Roughness

      Hi All,

The engine has become a little rough (ODO close to 3.1K).
When i went to Sapphire honda they checked and confirmed that there is roughness and attributed it to shim but as they did not have shims so they told me to contact them back in next few weeks.
Anyone aware of any other ASC (in bangalore) who might have shims?
Also my bike makes sound (from front breaks i guess) when i move for the office in the morning (the handle should be totally turned towards the left side). Sapphire already opened and cleaned the disc break to fix it but the noise is still there.
Any idea what the noise might me be?

      Thanks in advance

      Regards
      Piyush

      • @Piyush - The brake noise might disappear if the pads are cleaned up, but with the squeaking (assume) noise from the handle/steering column, it MAY be a faulty coneset OR just a little lubing might suffice. But, consult with Sudeep before approaching your ASC.

I didn't understand the highlighted part.

          +1

Piyush, please confirm if this from the brakes or from the handle/steering region.
If its from brakes, its just a small job. It would just take 5-10 mins to open the brakes and clean the brake pads. If the problem is with the cone-set, then it would require either replacement or some adjustment and lubing.
If you can't figure out, take it to Sapphire (JP Nagar) and talk to Zeeshan. AFAIK, he is the best CBR 250R mechanic in Bangalore. My cone-set was replaced 2 days back. He knows me well (You can give me reference as well).

Pls do not insult the bike!!!

Go for engine oil change when you observe the roughness in the engine & not specific to anything on ODO.
i am not insulting the bike...i respect her....no need to tell me just wanted to know can i go for first service at 500 kms then at 3000 kms and then at 5500 kms so on.....in service manual they say 1000,6000.....i wanted to say can i follow the same cycle as that of r15....service at every 3000 kms...

CBR is not a generalist.. i do not believe that.. rather i applaud HONDA for a nice 250cc single cylinder engine which is capable to give a head to head competition to a 27 year old evolving bike (N250).

I think everyone will be surprised with the results.. that shows 22 N250 defeated by ONE CBR... very surprising..

Well here is something to counter that point of view

Check this out, these guys raced a 100% stock cbr250 engine and claimed to beat 22 ninja 250r in CMRA E superstock series by 5 seconds.

And after that the same bike won the CMRA 2 hour endurance race by a lap.

                    EX250 = kawasaki ninja 250

Maybe its the rider and not the ride. I am just reading this with an open mind.
The EX250 that is sold in US is a carburetor equipped Ninja that produces 26 Bhp. The ones sold here are Fuel Injected ones that make 33 Odd Bhp.

The rider that competed on the CBR is an expert and has participated in at least 4-5 different events on larger bikes on the same weekend - meaning, familiarity of track.

With a horsepower advantage of just 2-3 Bhp (EX250 to CBR) to, it all boils down to rider talent.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Every bike is different the way it is build and what is inside it. Hence they have a different Service Cycle.
Why do you wanna follow R15's service cycle for CBR? They've mentioned that service cycle for a reason.
It's like saying, this t-shirt fits my younger brother, so I'll wear the same t-shirt. [Sorry if it was a crappy comparison, didn't get examples]

                        • Dyno chart of N250 (green) and CBR250 (red)

Look at the power outputs for both the bikes, ninja has a typical linear output (nothing surprising here, N250 are known for this).

And if we compare that with the cbr it looks like there is a significant bump in the power output between 5k and 6k rpms.

Do you guys feel a bump in power after 5000 rpms?

                          • Minor update - Finally HMSI had shipped the front sprocket & it has reached the dealer yesterday, but wait...if there's perfectness then its not HMSI!!! The rubber damper on the swing arm hasn't reached yet. On speaking with few folks they seem to have dispatched through flight (God only knows) & it should be with the dealer any moment starting tomorrow. So with the anticipation that things would get fixed soon, I've left the bike for service with the ASC. Have specifically asked to write down about 23-25 points to be inspected with specially instructed not to wash the bike completely, but just to clean the radiator while taking care not to bend the fins, not once, but warned several times.

The C250R mechanic is expected to work on it tomorrow & hopefully, I get the bike back in a week's time.

I'm already at the height of frustration; let the ASC do one additional thing other than what I instructed & HMSI had it this time; I'm not only walking to court, will put the bike for sale or simply return it back!!! I'd enough with C250R, its no longer putting a smile on my face!!!

You just ordered for the front sprocket only? Does it come in pack(front & rear sprocket + chain)? Changing these three at a time is a good idea i think.
