Probably because the complainant & the regional office are in the same city I've never ever got a call from HMSI for any of the complaints I raised. BTW, I got my sprocks in about a week from dispatch

      • I visited my ASC - Dharti Autos, Rajkot - to say hi to the Sr Manager and mentioned issues that the bike had been facing. We had a nice chat. I told him that the owner's manual showed 20W40 AND 10W30 as approved oils. He agreed but opined that 10W30 FS would be the ideal lube for the bike.

My bike was showing an oil level slightly lower than what the OM recommended so I filled her up to the given levels. The changes in the vibrations and sound levels was significant. This means that the CBR is VERY sensitive to oil levels - I must have put in less than 100 ml. I suppose it is due to the modernity of the engineering of the engine - it makes do on 1 litre of lube oil despite being a 250 cc.

One more thing. The spare parts, especially the rotables seem to be coming in quite well - Sumitbhai (the Sr Mgr) asked me if I wanted an oil filter as a spare. As per him, fairings are a little problematic especially the black and red ones. He ascribes the earlier spares issue to the SCM issues at Honda. It seems, as per him, that Honda did not expect owners to ride their bikes so extensively immediately after taking delivery and the spares and rotables SCM was caught with its pants down, so to say.

In other news, Got a call an hour back from a guy from Honda regional office. He was asking about the complaint that I raised for the non availability of spares (cone-set) for my bike. He informed me that they had dispatched it on 22nd of last month! So that means its been more than 20 days that they had dispatched it. But I had inquired 2 days back with Sapphire Honda and they didn't have any idea about. Gotta call them tomorrow and check again. But I'm happy hearing that they had dispatched it. I just hope it has arrived or arrives ASAP.
Thanks for this important news, Sudeep, about the brake pads.

By the way, could you describe the issues you faced when your cone set was going kaput.

          Thanks and regards,

          Maneesh

            2)weld incharge - assembly line
            3)overall assembly - assembly line
4)2 service heads for complete bike
5)2 other men (dunno what - but they were with complete 3 page checklists for the cbr)
            6)sales - a girl

            3)arjun
            4)aziz
            4)abhilabh

All the bikes were from first lot & had an average of 7k on odo with the exception of arjun's bike

dealer plus mechanics plus his service head

            events:
1)morning bikes were marked with tag numbers from one to five before their arrival
2)than accordingly a sales interview was arranged with each of the customer.the lady carried an exhaustive feedback sheet of four pages which contained all kinds of details from colors, quality, horn , blah blah blah --
{important info from them was for next bigger bike probably in a year.
            confirmed info was cbr150R by march in the range of 1.2 L in competion to r15}
3)A separate bay for cbr was inaugurated & similar setup is being replicated across all the dealerships now
4)every customer was than personally asked to explain his problem to them alongwith feedback from the dealer's mechanic who was handling tht particular bike
5)a stack of spare parts were brought down by them which had cone sets, disk pads, radiator assembly, mirrors, blinkers, foot pegs, chain sets, shims etc
6)all these things whichever were observed faulty were replaced immediately free of cost
            7) my bike had a multitude of problems in the sense that it was screwed up by my local dealership in terms of servicing - so I got coneset replaced, suspension cleaned & re adjusted,no shims required as vibes were mostly due to bolts & other stuff being loose (I have no idea on this as the work was already done by mech in my absence but they now have disappeared),chain was cleaned, adjusted & lubed (a probable replacement in a month as it jumps a bit),a few trial runs by everyone & some minor adjustments finally gave me the bike I had expected it to be in the first place.
8)others got chain set replaced alongwith radiator assembly (because of fan jammed) as well as cone sets replaced

It was an awesome experience as a whole with every minute thing well planned by the dealer as well as honda reps

I also took the issue of aargee & sudeep who had PMed me & atleast from spares point of view things are going to change radically in metros & suburbs first & than in other areas

They will be at one of the dealerships in pune so anyone can get in touch if required.

I also complained about my dealer & the pathetic response he gives but am least confident anything can be done in that matter since he's a political bigwig

Anyone in mumbai or thane or navi mumbai, please book your bike from vihaan if not already done else get it there for service & experience what customer delight is all about
            Hi guys,

Just back from a similar CBR250 clinic held at Vinayak Honda, Guwahati.

Five CBR250 owners were selected by the dealer and pre informed about this clinic. we were asked to reach there at 9.30am.

Reached there at 10am and the Workshop had a totally 'renovated' look..everything was spic & span... fresh paint on the walls... new tiles on the floor... all the mechanics were in brand new uniforms... and everything looked so organized! I think the HO guys should make it a point to visit each workshop at least 1-2times a year just for this benifit alone

Well, there were about 6-7 guys from the service team and 2guys from the sales team from Honda Gurgaon.

The sales guys had a one to one feedback session with each owner lasting about 30mins each. The feedback list was very exhaustive and well planned. They even wanted feedback on the Ninja 250s pricing and why we chose the Honda over the Ninja I was also asked how much premium was the Ninja worth in comparison to the CBR... My feedback was that the higher price for the Ninja was mainly because its a CBU import and attracts more import duty. If both were manufactured locally, in similar volumes, I'm sure Bajaj would comfortably be able to price it within 50k of the CBR! and that would be a fair premium for the bike.

Then there was a 10mins one on one session with a guy from the R & D team. During this each rider was asked what 3 things we would like to see changed in the bike in terms of design / function. I gave them the following feedback:

            1. The existing front mudguard is too small and when riding in muddy roads like ours during rain, the front tire throws too much muck onto the radiator clogging a substantial portion of it. So would be great to either have a better designed mudguard or a matching mudflap extension for the rainy months.

            2. The present horn is too feeble... so a bigger single horn with more 'bass' or maybe even a twin setup would be welcome change.

            3. The angle of the clipons is fixed... it would be great if the had some amount of adjust-ability built into them... would help different riders attain their sweet spot.

Well, there must have been more important suggestions... but this all I could think of at that time.

Everything was noted down in the form.

Then they took the bike into the new CBR exclusive Service bay. I didn't have any real problems with the bike apart from some 'snatching' noises from the chain and a little rattling from the right side engine fairing.

They had a long checklist with them and opened all the fairings, the tank, radiator, and head cover. Checked the tappet clearance, cleaned & adjusted the chain, topped up the brake oil and coolant. The rattling was due to slipped thread on the allen bolt that holds it near the knee area. Got that replaced.

The allen bolt on my right side rear view mirror was rusted, so they replaced the entire mirror assembly FOC. Another guy got his right side footrest assembly replaced FOC even though it was obviously bent from a fall

They were offering free oil changes, but since I had got my oil changed only 200kms back, i declined the offer. They then offered me a 1ltr bottle of Honda FS oil (MRP 504/-) which i could use during next oil change I remembered that I already had half liter from the last oil change so i accepted it with a smile Good courtesy on their part!

The topic of spares and accessories came up too... and all they had to say was "We know we're in a big mess on this front, but the situation today is much better than what it was 2months back. Give us a little more time (1-2months) and you'll have no reason to complain!"

We were not charged a single penny for anything.

Overall, it was a good experience, and nice effort from Honda... goes to show that they are indeed committed to their customers!

This is truely amazing! Free oil change, parts changed for free, feedback on what changes we would like to see( different thing if its done or not) is just brilliant.

Another beautiful reason why I'll stick to Honda.

Atlast, some positive development for CBR customers.. Hope they visit Cochin soon.. Another concern (apart from the ones Vicky mentioned) that I would raise - 1. quality of parts especially, parts rusting 2. knowledge transfer to ASC mechanics on how to clean the radiator

                  • A group of dogs suddenly started fighting and one of them suddenly hit the front ABS unit of my bike running towards me from right , now the ABS unit is not functioning and the ABS indicator remains on even after 10kmph. Also noticed some vibrations coming from front wheel after the hit. Luckily, nothing else was damaged and the bike stayed upright as I was riding at low speed.
Going to take the bike tomorrow to the dealer and have them check the ABS unit.

I was taken aback as, as per norms, I should have been informed when these happenings took place, but I was informed when I called (the owner in this case) up.

I requested them to get whatever color they can, but insisted on a fresh piece. Though the silver is in transit as requested. I was called & informed about this on Tuesday i.e. on 11th October.

Have shot two notes to the Honda website in their 'Contact Us' link & they are yet to contact me. No mails/sms or call and yes, no acknowledgement too.

Any mail address which would help in this mess? Thanks
may we know in which city you have booked your CBR?? why is ask this is because here in Kolkata I inquired in showroom last week and they said they have bikes ready to be delivered on the same day.. Reason is 2 weeks before they received 2 lots of CBR and each lot contains 44 bikes...

They asked about ninja ? well few weeks back in chennai camp there was a debate about cbr vs ninja pricing with VP,HMSI with one of the owners .. Trust me it was a lengthy discussion where one of the owners told VP " Its just because the parts are imported it shoots up to 3 lakhs ... Imagine if the parts are localized or the kawasaki's start a plant here ... the prices would drastically come down and most of the owners would have Ninja instead of CBR " . May be this irked him to ask for the feedback of what others think !

What an idea Sirji !!! Glad you didn't advice to service the vehicle without touching it

On a serious note - Arjun, I'm not sure if you own a C250R, if you do, please for once go through owner's manual or bare minimum go through HMSI website. I can even pardon your spelling mistake of Carburetor for car-bor-tor (quite rhythmic ), but certainly HMSI folks would if they hear C250R is using car-bor-tor
