  • Hello guys,

I am brand new here(read my first post). I have been reading all the comments in this thread. I have only covered 100 odd pages, so bear with me if I am asking any questions which are answered after 130 page or so.

I am planning to buy a 250CBR ABS version (color not decided yet), I stay in bangalore. I called Dhruvdesh Honda(I got my unicorn here 07 model) he said any bike has a waiting period of 1 week at the most. I called up the HMSI south region to confirm this. I was told that there are no waiting periods.

    I want to know,
    1. Have all the small problems face by the early owners been fixed? are they any new improvements on the bike?
    2. I hope they don't have the shortage of oil filters and other such after sales accessories.
    3. Is there any change in the price or the specs of the bike?

Also this is what the finance he has quoted.

    ABS 1,97,751

    Duration: 23 Months
    EMI: 7,818
    Down payment: 53,000

    This adds up to 2,32,814

    Interst: 9.95

So I am paying close to 35K extra.
I was told NOT to book the bike at the end of the year. So I will wait till end of Jan or so.

Also I have read and heard from friends that new bikes are being launched like KTM and so, sometime in June 2012.
Do I wait till then and hope the CBR250R comes down? I don't think I will look at any other bike, I am pure HONDA guy.

    Please suggest.
I will continue to follow this thread

I am in Bangalore by the way

      • I know this is out of topic but wanted to share, I had been to a market research event on 20/12/11 in a hotel Pune, where they had called CBR250R owners, started with registration(bikes owned, websites & magazines referred to, monthly family income , hich bike you took into consideration before buying CBR in sequence) and sandwiches then group discussion in which they showed us pictures of various designs of bikes like naked, cruisers, off road, sports etc. comments, likes, dislikes and why, followed by pros and cons of CBR with points for each(handling, design, performance, would you advice anyone to buy etc.), then they asked us if they were to introduce a bike with features like ABS (what approximate price should be), projectors only one side(left/right) would work if it had twin lights like R15 with pilot lights on, under seat exhaust or like KTM exhaust, horn (single or double), plastic petrol tank(FZ) and for each feature pros & cons adding questions weather you would definitely buy, don't mind spending, would not buy at all.The group discussion took around two hours and they even paid me Rs.200/-, I thought Honda representatives would be present but it was by a MR firm.

For loan amount of Rs.1,97,751 less down payment Rs.53,000 = Rs.1,44,751 @ 9.95% interest for 23 months - the EMI works out to Rs.6939 and total works out to Rs.1,59,590. So either he is charging you more interest than informed or something is wrong with his calculation.

The best way is to forget about quoted interest rate and concentrate only on EMI amount and period. That way, you would immediately understand which one is a better option.

For EMI to work out to Rs.7,800, the interest rate needs to be somewhere around 23%. Download any Loan Amortization calculator from net.

Always apply for the loan in second half of a month, do not accept the sanction letter till 25th and then negotiate hard. You will be amazed to see either you getting reduced EMI or reduced duration. That is the time of month end closing and each guy wants to achieve his given target.

I assume that you are asking about reducing in CBR price. It is not gonna happen.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

I am an owner of CBR250R.
1.Not very sure but now a days the newer lot of bikes is better. The initial lots had issues. I too had an issue but resolved promptly by ASC and Honda.
2.Oil filters etc are available with many ASCs in Bangalore (tried 2), if anyone does not has, get it from bigger dealers who have better spares stocks.
            3. No change in price and specs since launched.

The finance process itself would take 8-9 days as told by Dhruvadesh guys when I had inquired.
I got the bike in mid Oct without waiting (Not from Dhruvadesh, they had waiting for Red color).

            • The paddock stand here costs Rs. 3.5k. Why is there such a big difference in the price?

              • ^^Yes I was talking about the price of CBR coming down with newer competition.

^I am asking about the fixes because when RE launched its classic range, they had many small problems which were noted by RE and they rectified them in their later models.

Where in bangalore do you stay!
(Off topic are they any Xbhp meets! I would like to be a part, CBR or no CBR)

I stay in Sanjay Nagar North of bangalore.

About the finance, he is from HDFC bank, he told me that the dealer had called him and given my number. He gave me the above quote and when I asked him how much would the interest be he said 9.95%. I will go directly to the dealer and find out my self.

Anyone knows any dealer who will allow a longer test ride! Dhruvdesh Honda has the shortest test ride "track".

                Thank you

                  • what I love about the bike is well its Honda , the tyres are very nice. I don't know how it sounds about 3K rpm, never had the chance to go beyond(test ride) and almost everything else.

I wished the instrumental panel was bigger, at least the LCD. I think the LCD is way to small and requires a little longer look to read the info(correct me if I am wrong) I have a 20/20 vision

This is a usual ploy employed to lure potential customers. Go to a Nationalised bank nearby and ask. The auto loan interest rate should be around 14% - 14.50% pm and now a days you can get disbursement in a week or so.

A dealer gets cut on loans distributed through him so taking loan from him would always be costlier. Same is the case with insurance. Get a separate insurance quote from any company you like and start haggling. (Yes, you can negotiate on the insurance premium) I have personally negotiated about interest rate with nationalised bank & insurance company.

I was not given oil with the kit. Are the SVC guys keeping the oil for themselves!?

Is it true that NOT all companies cover the plastic/fiber parts on the bike! I read it in some forum that only few companies cover the entire bike fiber/plastic parts including. if true can you name those companies? My Unicorn is insured by Bajaj
