About the chain replacement .. I will let you know in two days Bro ...

and to all the first batch owners .. please check your grab rails ... I dont think any owner has complained so far ... but I guess i found out why they are replacing it ... There were few bubbles forming.... when I touched it .. the paint peeled off .. If its replaced ... I dont think so you need to worry about .

If the new grab rails are light, comes in excellent mat finished quality & doesn't chip off everywhere when paint peels off at one place...then I'd certainly worry about

Yes yes, non-abs . Had asked the question after I bought the brake pads! lol. And yes, the newer ones fit perfectly.

BTW, the honda ones come with a break - like a small cut - in between, what is that for??

And how have you stuck the device?

I got the replacement kit and the grab rails were changed but I don't see any difference. I think they have just repainted with a better quality paint..other than that it seems like the older one which I guess is good since the build quality of the older one is descent enough. And yes the paint on the older one does come off. My one side of the grab rail was without any paint on the inside thanks to my helmet lock!

For the chain, I was wondering if third-party ones will fit to save costs? like someone was mentioning the rolon ones are OEMs of Honda so will it be cheaper to buy those but then how to source?

I rode my bike a bit - around 15 kms - and I could feel the utter smoothness of the bike right from the engine to gear shifts and zero jerks and I mean zero jerks. I never had zero jerks even when the bike was brand new so I wonder if Honda shipped the bike with bad quality chains. I even had an argument on this (which I do not know if it was wise or not) with the service centre but paid eventually because I did not want to spoil the relations with them.

          • A short summary of my short ride yesterday..

Run in has been almost done after yesterday night chilling 90km ride....damn the cold chilled my spine.

1352km and I filled the Tank full yesterday morning.

110km since then uptill this morning.

            Summary:

City: 30km - 10-80kmph, moderate traffic considering my riding habits... at max 10km out of this was without a pillion. Rest of the 100km ride was with pillion

Highway: 80km - 50-100kmph (constantly around 90-100kmph on highway for most of the times though)

            Total: 110km

Fuel: 3.15L (I filled the Tank Full again exactly at 110km)

            Efficiency: 34.9kmpl

Now counting until next ~100km, this will be purely city conditions.

Bike feels much smoother now, gotta get it smoother in lower gears. I try to stay on 1st/2nd gear in traffic and maintain 3.5-4.5k rpm in those gears. This has improved smoothness compared to a stock condition.

            • Update after 1400 kms

My fuel efficiency is around 33 - 34 kmpl in city. Once got 39 kmpl on a mixed city-highway drive to Mahabalipuram on ECR. I do a tank full between 200 - 235 km. I am using Motul chain lube and lube generously after cleaning.

How often do you guys lube the chain? I feel the bike to be better for a week after lubrication which counts to 100 -120 km for sure. Then it gets little dull and then bad the next week.

Do you really lube once in 500 km interval as in manual when using motul lube?
Leave way and then accelarate ... then overtake ....

Wow.. really? the best I have gotten is 34kmpl, that too on a NH8 on my way to Bordi.. Am averaging anywhere in between 27-30 kmpl in the city.. I have done 2500 kms. to date and have changed the oil thrice and lubed twice..I lube after a 1000 kms and change oil after 800 kms..Bike is butter smooth

Yes.. It was when the bike was 400km old before the first service. I drove her on 6th gear, 5000 rpm, 80 kmph on the highway.
is it really required to change oil once in 800 km?

                    Talking about 1st service?

or you do so every 800km?

Fuel economy should shall not be a concern if you are indeed spending ~800rupee FS oil every 800km

Great.. I have always changed oil at 800-1000 kms on my previous bikes as well.. Even though the CBR manual states that after the first service u should change ur oil @6000 kms.. I do not agree with this I am sure that a lot of members would have opinion on this but I just feel it ensures better engine life makes it engine run smoother and prevents damage..I am planning to use synthetic after my 2nd service, maybe change that once every 2000-2500 kms..

                      • honda replacing bad parts free of cost

yesterday got a call from ASC stating that honda is replacing some kit free of cost in all cbr's so went to the ASC today. the parts which were replaced are:
mirror holding washers and nuts so no more loose mirrors and vibrations.....
rear hand rests as there were complains of paint peeling off....
front and rear foot rests along with their holding nuts and pins....
all clips of the fairings,no vibrations now.....
handle bar holding nut and bolt...complains were that they were getting rusted...
                        covers for mirror bolts....
fork and bush of the suspension completely replaced so as to end the wobiness and floating effect...
all these parts were replaced freely and quickly, and i was given two papers stating that i have received updated parts and the old parts are replaced and i am satisfied. i then took the test ride of my bike and HOLY COW..these small parts have completly changed the way bike handels...now bike is more planted to the road and handling has also improved a lot this is all due to the fork and bush of the suspension.....i urge you all to go to your nearest ASC and get these parts replaced......

OMG... now I want my bike replaced...

I think some should have a talk with some very senior honda guy and clear out the doubt about which all parts are getting replaced.
