Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi guys, I had a ride to Kanyakumari from Kochi 2 days back.Enjoyed the ride. Though the distance was less compared to kochi Bangalore, I felt tired more this time mostly due to road condition. It was raining heavily on the return trip. Was in rain from Kovalam to Cherthala around 4 hours. Even though I had Philips extreme vision installed in my CBR,I couldn't see a thing when oncoming traffic blinded me in the rain. Request advice from experienced riders regarding lighting in such situations.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Bought this double bubble windscreen from AliExpress for 22$.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostHey guys has anyone put hand guards for their ceeber, just a query ,I understand it doesn't suit the look of the bike but still it helps while touring if I'm not wrong, also any body put on a aftermarket windscreen?
Found zero gravity is tried and tested , anybody else using anything else? Also I have 2 modifications lined up,
1) changing the part on the top of the forks to adjustable ones made in Thailand specifically for the CBR, uncle bought it to make it for his suzuki factory race bike. They are fork adjusters of some sort.
2) Will be changing the ball bearings to tapper rolled bearings which is more flexible and lasts the the life of the bike apparently, will post the pictures tomorrow!

That's lube.Originally posted by leech View PostActually, it's a headache. Yesterday I had to lube the spare chain and sprocket too, individually twerking each link. The factory put in some sticky fluid to prevent corrosion, anybody know what that is?

leech - yes, i own CBR150R. Done 13500 kms on stock chain, nearly half length remaining on chain adjuster. Chain & sprockets are in good condition, no uneven slackness, no jammed rollers/links. It will run for another 6500 kms effortlessly!!Originally posted by leech View Postbala13 - you have a 150 right? How long does the chain last on average? How much kms have you done on the factory fitted chain?
My chain maintenance schedule-
I lube it for every 250-300 kms with 140 grade gear oil. I don't follow 500 kms interval because after 300 kms chain becomes dry.
Clean it for every 2000 kms, by using kerosene & used toothbrush.
Tightening it every 4000 kms!!
Average life of cbr150's well maintained chain may be 20-25k kms.Live To Ride✌

I too had done this, brought the chain sprocket set too early and kept it idle for more than a month, though I didn't lube that like your doing.Originally posted by leech View PostActually, it's a headache. The coating is more like waxy than fluid, so I think it might be wax or grease coated by the manufacturer.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hiya folks!
How are you all doing? Great seeing so many of you riding. Unfortunately I haven't been able to go on any 'real' rides on Suzaku. I do a lot of Bangalore exploration though. I just hit 1400km and I realised that I needed to clean and lube the chain. I had somehow overlooked the fact that the last lubing was during first service that was at 700km! :P Anyhow, the chain is now clean and lubed. The difference in ride quality is palpable. Can't believe I let the chain get that dry. *facepalm*
I also washed him and cleaned him up good. I'm inclined to recommend ReflectON here, again. I can't tell you how easy it was to clean the bike - I used no detergent/shampoo. Just water from an agri-spray bottle. I used a total of 5litres of water for the entire wash. After the wash was done, I didn't need to even use wax for the shine. The paint was like a mirror - it reflected everything! I wish I could take a picture to show this, but my phone camera just couldn't do justice. Even though I put on a coat of wax for protection against the rains, it wasn't needed at all - the ceramic coating was hydrophobic enough! It is already a month and 1000km since I got the coating done on Suzaku. Best 5400 bucks I've spent on the bike till date. The wheels were easy to degrease with just an all purpose cleaner(I use well diluted Amway LOC). Since I was idiot enough not to buy a chain degreaser, I used the LOC on the chain too. Will get the Motul degreaser for next week's lubing.
I bought the robotouch rideon charger to install on Suzaku. Now, the packaging says that it will not drain the battery and that it is designed to protect my battery, but I'm inclined to believe that I might need a switch. I'd like some advice from you folks on the same.
Lastly, since I don't like text only posts - a picture of Suzaku I clicked on one of my Exploration rides.

Yes, I noticed that the individual links weren't moving that freely. Hence I decided to get my hands dirty and lube the spare chain with fresh engine oil which set the chain links free.Originally posted by Iam_Hoodi_CBR View PostI too had done this, brought the chain sprocket set too early and kept it idle for more than a month, though I didn't lube that like your doing.

Guys I think my side stand's bolt had its nut fall off. Can anybody confirm that there is infact a nut missing?

There is a nut and bolt. It may fall off if loose. Not sure of the size of nut, but it was either 10mm or 12mm. Get it ASAP.-----

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Motorcyclists always suffer from the blinding headlights of oncoming traffic, regardless of how good their lighting is, especially because of people who do not know that their vehicles have a dipper setting. This effect is escalated in rain because of the glare and light diffraction from rain particles on your visor or the piercing raindrops on your face if you are riding visor up.Originally posted by shan2306 View PostHi guys, I had a ride to Kanyakumari from Kochi 2 days back.Enjoyed the ride. @Punnamadakkayal.
I would suggest to go for a glare free and hydrophobic coating treatment/ sprays(couple of options are available in the market e.g. RainX, Formula 1) or find someone who could do these in your neighborhood(these would cost you anywhere between 300 and 2000 based on the option). Another cheap option that i personally use since these coatings were not accessible to me is the "finger wiper". Costs 50 rupees but serves the purpose.
Awesome pics by the way!Doing whatever it takes.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thank you for the advice. Will try formula 1 spray. I have removed my hand gloves and was cleaning the helmet visor every 5 seconds to get the visibility of the road.Originally posted by quarter_litre_master View PostMotorcyclists always suffer from the blinding headlights of oncoming traffic, regardless of how good their lighting is, especially because of people who do not know that their vehicles have a dipper setting. Now back to Bangalore. Awesome ride. Now I feel my CBR became very smooth after the odo crossed 4500 kms. Previously I could feel the engine if ride above 90 Kmph, now above 95 Kmph also I am feeling like I have pressed the clutch and bike is running freely. [emoji2]

Re: Honda CBR 250R
madhav766 - it's human nature to forget. I've forgotten to lube my chain for 1500 kms at a stretch two times. It was only one year after buying the bike I made it a habit to lube the chain every weekend.
Neighborhood aunties used to tell others that he is preparing the bike for a race, repairing it every weekend. [emoji57]

Re: Honda CBR 250R
If you installed the nut yourself. Then I'd suggest you get the threadlocker solution, Anabond, apply a drop or it on the threads of the bolt, spread it and tighten the nut, this will make sure there isn't any accidental undoing of the nut.Originally posted by leech View PostReplaced the side stand nut for ₹10. It's a size 17, I think. People who ride on rough, crater filled roads should check if their sidestand nut is tight enough otherwise one day it will fall off like mine.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END
