  • Re: Honda CBR 250R

Usual Sunday morning rides in ECR on comfortable 80kmph.

I overtook a guy riding a FZ 25. It wasn't intentional and not even wanted to race at all.

But the way he overtook unleashed everything.
Drop the gear and race on. We didn't let the hook for at least 10 minutes until we saw a Cop check-post and they were ready to nab us :P

Thankfully the FZ 25 guy guided through a short cut and we both took stopped the bike near a Tea shop and started laughing like we were friends.

He introduced himself and had a good chat, actually good time. we exchanged our bikes and rode for sometime. I really liked FZ 25 response on throttle and comfortable too.

Finally he left to Pondichery bidding a goodbye. Hope we met somewhere down the line again as he wanted to beat me

Just thought that, Which ever Bike we ride we are always Friends....

Happy Friendship day My dear xbhpians
Thank you for all your support

You need to find this bolt on the back side of headlight assembly. It is located on lower right corner and you can access it from below.

        There it is

You need to turn it using a wrench or by putting a screwdriver in those groves. It is for vertical adjustment of beam

For any horizontal movement you need to access another similar type of bolt present on upper left corner on the backside of headlight assembly(which is somewhat hard to access)

does anyone know what the sound may be of?
You can perhaps try this, the jiggling or rattling sound can be from different sources, first, try to put the bike in a paddock stand and rotate the wheel as fast as you can (by hand) and listen if you hear any abnormal sounds. Secondly, at around 6 to 7k you might hear a mild stitching sound that's absolutely normal. If you hear constant jingling sound after the bike has warmed up irrespective of RPM then we have either a faulty CCT or a shim replacement is required. But, if you only hear at a specific RPM 6 to 7k it's normal.

so shall i assume that it is the shims that might me causing it?
If you feel the jingling or swoosh sound going over a pothole, or uneven roads, it's due to a loose chain or an over extended drive chain. Shims or CCT don't vibrate going over certain road conditions, they're constantly load irrespective of road conditions. If you hear swoosh or jingling sound when going over pot holes check your chain tension and check your swingarm bushes too.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

What is the ideal grease for lubing the front brake pistons?

There is something called Rubber grease which can be used for braking components.

You can use silicone grease or red rubber grease and that's used on the slider pins, not on the brake pistons. Brake piston and bore should be clean and smooth without any dust. You can use silicone or red rubber grease that's sold at Maruti Service stations (courtesy black asp) at 13 bucks a sachet and can be used on slider pins.

                  Cheers!

Thanks for the reply... So the brake pistons should not be lubed at all?

Actually, the brake fluid you are using itself is a lube in itself, just small dab on the side of piston with a small exposed side of the piston. All you can do is use brake cleaner spray and clean the bore, use the slide in the O ring and a just small dab in your finger and a circle around the bore and the skirt of the piston and she should slide all the way in. The piston boot is there for a reason, as the piston expands it can ingest fine particles that can score the bore and jam the brakes over time so those boots act like umbrella over them when the slide in and out.

What's the ODO reading? Generally you don't need to change the oil filter but a oil change would be needed if the bike has completed 4k or more after your first service. Apart from that check for other things like chain tightness, lube, and report if you have any issues with the bike. Generally CBR doesn't need much servicing until something bad happens. Just keep a eye on your owners manual and verify that the required things are done periodically.

Odo is showing 5300 km n having 3 days trip next week. Hence thinking to service the bike in current week.
I m not sure abt what to change in 2nd service except than oil. Hence asked here. I read here abt 2nd service n it was much more informative than the service book.

There's nothing to change unless they are faulty.
Go on with the oil and oil filter change along with gasket.
Service your bike well enough and sort out all your complaints on bike and Lube your chain and adjust the chain slack and enjoy the trip.

In addition to the oil and oil filter change, check the coolant level, brake fluid level and top up if necessary. Also check the brake pads for wear. Adjust the chain slack and clean and lube the chain. You are good to go!
