Can anyone here point me out a smoother gear shift mantra? Oil changed just 900kms ago with Shell 10w40, also changed the oil filter. Gear lever also lubed well, but still the gear shifting is not that smooth, it does a khat-khat sound most of the times.

Also whats the average life of a Contigo tyres which used to come default with 2012/2013 CBR models. My bike is 20K and almost 4 years old now. Front tyre loosing its pressure in a week or two. No punctures ever spotted on the tyres till date. Will check the tyres by removing the wheels possibly over the next weekend, till then any suggestions?

Yes. Motul Motocool Expert can be used on the bike, without any problems. Go back a couple of pages and you can see the part number for thermostat and the thermostat cover that I've mentioned.

1.75 for a 2017 is a very good deal indeed. But before you purchase, make sure you do all the necessary document checks and physical checks on the motorcycle.

That's the lowest replacement cycle I've ever seen for a chain slider to be replaced. What exactly was the fault with your slider?

There isn't any mantra per se, but one technique for a smoother shift is using a technique called rev matching. The way this works is to bring the transmission and the engine speed in unison so the input and output shaft mesh smoother as opposed to thud or kadak, katak sounds. Rev matching is fun, and if done properly will suffice result in smoother gears shifts and prevent wheel locks ups when shifting from high to low gear. Most bikes have gear shifts that produce significant thud and often this is the case when engaging to first from standstill or shifting down from high to low gear on the run. Right amount of rev matching will help reduce this transition sound and engage the gears effectively and smoothly.

          Cheers!

Hi guys. Just did a 200km trip yesterday and now my bike is making some sound from the engine area. Whenever I leave the throttle, there is a sound that takes place when the engine slows down. Which is right after the engine sound. Asked in a SVC, they said its timing/tapid adjustment gone wrong. Any help?

And I apologize once again for not being able to express my issues properly since I am yet to learn what sound is what of a bike.

One of the button like mount which goes into the holes on swing arm which holds the slider in place broke off and slider had slided away from its place due to which the chain was sliding directly over swing arm which made sound when ever bike went over the pot holes.

Hi Blackthorn, you are spot on. My brother has the same exact leak but we are not able to source the part anywhere also his coolant has completely drained and he is running the radiator on plain water.

Running the radiator on water could lead to corrosion of the cooling system. Is the leak heavy or light?

Yes, that small protruding button slots with a small hole in the swingarm and locks it in place. These are very fragile protrusions. One thing you can do is what a fellow member did a few pages back. Just make a hole in the middle of the slider and tie them with a small piece of steel wire or you can use cable ties to to lock them in place, works every well....

If the leak is severe, I'd suggest you to stop using the motorcycle and either go for a temporary fix such as removing the cover and applying gasket maker sealants or you can wait for the part to arrive and then get them installed. If you can always use distilled water, that protectors the radiator from oxidation caused my salts and minerals in normal tap water.

                      Cheers!

It is futile to guess the problem without hearing the sound of the bike in person.

Try another Svc and find out their opinion. What does the noise sound like? Did you have your shims changed recently?

Hi Blackthorn, I made an error with the coolant name. It's Motul Inugel expert which is used in KTM Duke 200. Can we use it on cbr250r as it is glycol based coolant? Also we ordered the thermostat cover and it will take 5 days to arrive at the SVC.
