That is adequate some idiots fill it to the extent that even after the pads have consderably worn the fluid level doesnt decrease much which would go under the radar and the rider would only know he's screwed once the rotor develops scars.

A lack of a marker isnt an issue, just make sure that the window is never 100% full and make sure to monitor the pads when the fluid drops below the 50% estimate.

Pardon me but that number plate looks like it's going to hit your front mudguard every time you go over a large pothole. Do you have any 'thock' sounds when hitting a pothole or speed bump at speed?

Not yet! I have been using this number plate for the last 1year.

I have a question for bike experts here : can a worn chain and sprocket cause lag on hard acceleration?

Symptom : I'm facing a distinct loss in hard acceleration on my bike for the past 1000 kms. When I twist throttle hard to accelerate from 4000-5000 rpms, i feel it accelerates slower.

The bike still does ~70 kmph at 4500 rpm, though. The chain and sprocket has never been changed, odo at 39000 kms. I have no unusual sounds when riding. Chain slack is still 0.8 to 1.3 inches.

It could cause a hiccup or two at times during acceleration. Without seeing your chain/sprocket, we can't say if it is indeed worn.
Another cause could be clutch slippage at times. At close to 40k km, I would suggest you also get the clutch plates inspected. If not, the next time try a different brand of oil in the 10w40 grade.
And another very common cause for a hiccup would be a dirty airfilter !

Handlebar raised with Apache 200 handlebar. Had to do some chipping on wind screen. But it is a perfect solution for me as I had some issues with the position of stock handlebar

you can get replacement led's in a color of your choice (blue/yellow/red/white). search on ebay for t10 parking bulb.
the stock is a 5w bullb i assume.. so even a 1w led would be much brighter.
This is the basic model: Car 5 LED Parking Replacement White T-10 Adapter Bulb :- 2 PIECES | eBay
I use this (white color)on my ktm duke and it is just as bright as the stock pilot lamp but consumes less than 1W. had to replace the stock bulb since it conked out a couple of months after i bought the bike. The blue ones of the same rating provide better visibility compared to the whites.
There are brighter t10 led's (essentially with more powerful led chips/projector lens etc..), you could use them too.. but try to keep the wattage less than the stock rating.

Any help would mean a great deal: It's been 70k on the odo, my cbr has started producing heavy valve noise, like the rocker arm is literally slapping the valves like a juvenile male on a porn star. Re-shimmed and changed rocker arms, but the sound, although somewhat lesser, starts again after a 100km run. There is no lag in acceleration nor is the fe affected. Checked clearance again after 1000km, still holds good. Left the vehicle at the SVC for almost a week, the mechanic comes up saying, I'd need to change the piston block and valves and valve cover. I did not have the chance to be there on the spot when the valves were inspected, and hence asked them to close the bike back and brought it home. It's been lying idle for a couple if weeks now. Any idea what could be causing the valve noise? Clutch plates were changed 10000kms back, no issues with that. Could it be the timing chain? Clueless..

It is far worse when the chain is not slacked enough, as most of the transmission power is lost due to slack in chain, meaning the power delivery from the tranny is split in the chain before reaching the wheel. Worn sprockets too can cause the same over speed as the chain starts to loosen and the chances of chain jumping of sprocket is a very high, and if it does, may almighty be with you. Have you cut any links? One cheap way people extend chain life is cut a link, though this can be of help in emergency, riding with it only causes excessive wear.

Jon Niranjan Paul, usually when a shim is changed, timing chains and tensioners are also visually inspected for the right tautness. Loose timing chain products a karrr sound which is prominent. Can you post a video or upload a sound clip, so that we can listen to it. I'd be very much interested in this though.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

At 70 K Kms on ODO the Timing chain Tensioner is the likely culprit..check the timing chain also for elongation which would require replacement ...

B7ACKTHORN - nope, I haven't cut any links. There has never been too much slack with my chain, it's always below ~1.5 inches.

I bought a spare chain and sprocket last year from Honda SVC to change it as soon as needed. But since I have no sounds near the sprocket when running, and the slack is always fine, I'm hesitant to do so.

Can the chain jump out of a sprocket even if it's tight as per company recommendations?
