Thanks shiv and chinmay...the problem is that I cannot reproduce the problem in front of the mechanic when I need to show him - Murphy's 3rd Law you know!

BTW here's the red devil undergoing a makeover. Doesn't she look hot without the plastics? Reminds me of a Speed Triple! :P

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

This is really looking good. Did you change the tank too ? I think the red of the old and new versions are of 2 different shade.

Krish, The tank and side panels are unchanged. Only the headlamp cowl has been changed. There is a difference in color, but it is noticeable only when you see it head-on, and it's not entirely noticeable when seen side-on. Basically it depends on the angle of light on the fairing surface. (I think you will be able to make it out in the front-quarter pic posted above)

Yeah, the 2 angle pics did give me a weird feeling, sometime i felt the colors gel perfectly , sometimes i feel that there is a difference. So just wanted to clear.

            Hi Friends,

My CBR Repsol Edition is due for it's 1st service in 2 days, need your valuable inputs on check-list to be considered before giving it to svc. Most importantly, advice which svc-mech combo in Hyd is best considered (I've purchased bike from Autofin - Himayath nagar).

I am looking forward to change existing headlight bulbs (both primary one & parking lights) to something better illuminating ones. Have heard a lot about Osram brand, suggest me which spec'ed bulbs are to be replaced with current ones.

Also, regarding air-filters : Advice if any tuning can be done to existing filters to produce better pick-up & also some racing sound OR advice if any other filter brand to opt for.

Looking forward to best of the inputs.

You must be the change you wish to see in the world

I need to spend some time to get used to the clutch-throttle combination at low speeds. I didn't cross 4k rpm and it rode well at speeds of 50kmph.

I'll surely try and attend one of the upcoming meets. Thanks a lot...

Please do not keep her below 5k RPM all the time and do not shift below 4k RPM in lower gears and for 5th and 6th gear shift at 5k RPM. You will end up lugging the engine if you stick to 4k rpm for all the gears.

Also take her to higher RPMs with gentle throttle. Please read through the document Argee has put through wish you many happy miles

Osram Night brakers in 55/60 W H4 combination is a direct replacement for CBR, you can look at Philips extreme vision too. Parking light I am not sure, you can check out the LED ones.

Air filter replacement is not recommended and will void your warranty. I would not damage my bike for sound How ever people have experienced more bassy sound by removing the air filter cover which again I would not recommend given the dusty condition we live in.

I have extreme vision on my machine so can tell you about those. You can get a pair of extreme vision for 1000 bucks. You also get matching pillot lamps(non-led) with them.

Hi, I'm looking out for these things for my bike.

                    1. I've read about the 3M paint protection available for bikes, but is that option available in Delhi? I see only one store of theirs and that too in Bangalore. This is a priority and any other good quality paint protection would also do, considering that I've bought the black colour.
                    2. Paddock stand. I checked with a couple of service centres and they dont have it for sale. Any place in Delhi where I can get it?
                    3. What should be used to wash the bike, just water or something like a shampoo solution?
                    4. I fit the tank pad myself, and it is slightly tilted (just a little bit). Can it be taken off and refixed or will it lose its stickiness?
                    5. If the tank pad can't be refixed, i'll have to find a new one and also find someone who could fix it properly.

                    Thanks

It seems, Repsol version is still being sold in India? I have recently asked a dealer in Kanpur, and he suggested quite opposite.

I chose a black CBR 250r because sales guy convinced me that Repsol was limited edition, and I won't get it now. My fault, I should have checked.

I might share my experiences, though I am still learning things. Perhaps, not as good as most of you are. I have been following discussions on xBHP for sometime.

Thanks to everyone, and xBHP (a great resource).

I am yet to look at manual, and ask service folks here.

If I may ask, does passing light work when headlamp is already on hight beam?

I don't notice anything. If that's by design I am ok with that. If it's not, I would get it looked at.

                        Thanks

The pass light is just a pull in switch which activates the high beam.
When you are already riding in high beam, it does not make any difference. In such cases, toggle between the high and low beam lights.

Would you mind sharing your experience with us in terms of:

                              a) Straight line braking

damn good. i give credit to IRC more for this one
                              b) Any wobble at high speed runs

no wobbles. infact any wobbles if any due to suspension or coneset felt only about 80kmph or below. rock steady above that.

                              c) Cornering and extreme lean while cornering

initially was scared of cornering hard due to heart to mouth instances with the conti's. gradually back to cornering now and seems planted but the suspension being saggy
the ride certainly gets wavy on uneven roads. tyres not to blame for this one.

                              d) Performance on dry and wet road conditions

IRC : dry + wet = decent , dunlop dry = good : wet =bad.on the lines of conti.. assuming the tyre is 10k old now and dosen't seem like wearing out.
tread is almost good as new and looks like will go for another 10-15k with ease.. so guessing hard or mid hard compound.

                              e) On hard braking did you feel the tail going out of line or did the vehicle stayed within controllable range.

vehicle does stay in control though never tried braking hard from speeds like 150-160 which i did on conti's as was doing a lot of highways runs back then.
but if your pads are good and not nearing life. no fish tailing yet. not meant for wet roads by any means though..

                              f) Life witnessed so far with this combination

i must say better than conti's . FE is same or say a little bit more as the dunlop has more rounder profile or maybe my placebo effect but touch wood relieved of those unwanted cracks and fissures coming now and then...

next change will be PSD else michelin

Pardon the pun! doing some research hence feedback from CBR owners will be of great help..

                              Cheers,
                              replies in bold..
