Dear fellow CBR owners..Does the CBR heat up quite easily even when ridden for just 7-8 kms in moderate traffic? I rode the bike for about 7-8 kms in evening today at a stretch and when i was about to park, i could feel engine quite heated up and a burning smell emanating from the engine bay. Previously too i have noticed the radiator fan coming on very often even when the bike is ridden for short distances. Is this normal? I have only used the bike for a month or so wanted to know whether this is normal or something that needs attention?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Considering it's a B2B and moderate traffic yes, it's normal. The 250 does heat up when riding at slow speeds, you can feel whiff of hot air caressing your calves. Pretty much normal. The fan kicks in swiftly and the temperature is always under check. The CBR has one of the robust cooling systems in the Indian motorcycle scene. Make sure your coolant level is right and if you haven't changed your coolant in more than a year or never checked, now would be the good time to check and top up if necessary. On how to check your coolant level, check your owners' manual.Originally posted by Sp!tfire View PostDear fellow CBR owners..Does the CBR heat up quite easily even when ridden for just 7-8 kms in moderate traffic? Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Hi. I am facing the same issues myself currently. And the burning smell is a shocker to me. Can anybody shade some light about the burning smell for the engine bay?Originally posted by Sp!tfire View PostDear fellow CBR owners..Does the CBR heat up quite easily even when ridden for just 7-8 kms in moderate traffic? Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks VJ. Heating issue seems to be normal then but how about the burning smell, Is that normal too when the engine is quite heated up? I bought the bike pre owned a month back and during service i had the coolant level checked and topped up. I am not sure whether the previous owner has ever changed it..the bike has done about 17k kms. Can the engine heat be also attributed to old used up engine oil?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostConsidering it's a B2B and moderate traffic yes, it's normal. Re: Honda CBR 250R
the 'burning' smell could be anything. could be a sticker or the dirt that sometimes gets baked on to the lower part of the engine case. or it's simply the engine heat reacting with the rubber hoses/metal/painted surfaces causing a mild smell.. nothing to worry. this is what is probably happening in your case. if its a new bike, let it clock a couple 1000km and then check and compare with another cbr.Originally posted by Ave2592 View PostHi. if the smell is very strong & unpleasant it could be coming from the clutch plates.. which shouldn't happen normally. this indicates worn/burnt plates or bad oil. i would personally never run a w30 oil on a motorcycle that's ridden in India. Try switching over to something like the shell ax7/shell advance ultra/motul 7100 10w40 grade.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Burning smell can be induced by a couple of things, mainly, oil residue on the engine and crud on the engine itself which get cooked due to heat produced by the engine. So this is why you smell a pungent, oil burnt smell when the bike stops, it's either due to oil and crud being cooked due to engine heat. Secondly and very importantly, plastic parts naturally emit toxic fumes when heated up, though you can't see them, when heated up by engine, plastic and ABS items in and around the engine too get heated up and emit the type of smell one would find pungent. It's common even on some superbikes and high end bikes.Originally posted by Sp!tfire View PostThanks VJ. I have made this video so that you all could know what i was talking about last time. This sound could be of what? it comes at 4k rpm disappears at 4.5 and no sound above or below 4k rpm.🤔Originally posted by harshil3604 View Post

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I have similar sound starting from 3.5k rpm all the way to 4.5k. I think it is the CCT issue that we all know about. There was a guy who fixed the old CCT but tightening it a little after removing it, I am not sure if it was here or on tbhp. If you find it do let us know.Originally posted by harshil3604 View PostI have made this video so that you all could know what i was talking about last time. Re: Honda CBR 250R
When I said tightening it, I didn't mean the CCT, but once you remove it there is screw inside it that you have to turn left or right to make it elongate/shorten I think.Originally posted by harshil3604 View PostIt didn't work. You try it and tell me[emoji853]

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Done that only bro. Took all the tension out by rotating it to the all the way right and let it go but no significant difference.Originally posted by kannanmr16 View PostWhen I said tightening it, I didn't mean the CCT, but once you remove it there is screw inside it that you have to turn left or right to make it elongate/shorten I think.

In that case, changing it will be the only option unfortunately.Originally posted by harshil3604 View PostDone that only bro. Took all the tension out by rotating it to the all the way right and let it go but no significant difference.
